    When the Lions toured SA in 1974, I was 10 years old, and had just started playing rugby at school the previous September. I worshipped JPR, he was the reason why I, an English kid, supported Wales in the 5 Nations. Those sideburns, the white hairband, the rolled down socks, he was iconic.

    JPR was a banging player and you could smash him with an artic and he,d jump up and run off no bother,,
    he never lost a game to england ever!
    he was bullet proof, good man sorely missed!
