The complexity of the upgrade system reminds me of another game that was shut down. I think it was called Loadout. You can slap on a bunch of modifications on the guns to get stuff like bouncing missles that becomes proximity mines that explodes into more mines.
@@wanderbots If i remember correctly it was a good game but some weapong were kinda dangerous for both the user and extremely powerful against others but it was fun while it lasted and it's true tat it ressemble bio prototype culture system
Something that helped me is that whatever bullet type you attach an spine/lung/intestine to is now a “summon”. The activation timer starts when the bullet is fired. Same with a summon, so they won’t shoot till spawning and then the spine countdown finishing.
So i'll throw this out based on what you said at the end, having played ~10h of it myself in the past two days. 1)The mini puddle thing you described is something you can absolutely do in game, right now. Something like Boomerangs or Dragon skulls would last long enough for you to throw intestines on, that would be able to spread poison/fire/wither/slow underneath. 2)about things like bounce - tentacles can have varying amounts of projectiles, that can pierce OR bounce (chain) (haven't seen any with both), so there's a lot of little things there with how your build might grow during a run, and 3)difficulty 2 randomizes the right side connections of everything but the brain. Limbs and tentacles (melee and ranged) might not just no vessels or nerve/spine, now they can spawn with something that while the part itself is super useful, only connects to like an intestine. Forces you to be flexible during a run even more so. Otherwise, super glad to see you cover this, and easily a contender for top spot beside Rogue: Genesia for bullet heaven
I think one of the hard concepts for this game is that it’s often better to use super weak, fast attacks at the start of a brain. Because if those are firing rapidly you can use them to activate the big powerful hits way more often. I.e. a jackal spine shooting the swordfish or coral bullets constantly, then a good boxer nerve or the crit nerve to activate the giant limb/other big aoe damage
"Activate Right side Organ while the left side organ deals crit damage" Good God it just made sense. They mean "left" and "right" ALONG THE PROGRESSION PATH, don't they. Sweet Jesus I went 10 minutes assuming it meant you were going to unlock the other SIDE OF YOUR BRAIN. Yeah. Some of these descriptions could use..."localization".
i sort of want a wiserd bullt heven game where you link tiggers/effects to elments that make spells like to make fireball you would need a shot effect lead into a fire element trigger a aoe on hit of fire to make the blast part and you could even have some crazy combos with other elements such as summons and shields even I just think the whole spell building and combing would be more fun then just getting a skill that does the fireball like it could even be a sort of card builder type of game where stacking the same effects and elements make that part stronger like firing more shots of bigger AOEs
I think the reason that you couldn't get offspring to work or think the things that needed a 1 or better to work but started with 0.16, was you didn't really notice the efficiency bonus of certain organs. Certain spines, stomachs, and nerves had an efficiency multiplier percent which increase the effect of the attached organs. That's how you get them to activate. An efficiency percent of 600% will turn a 0.16 into a 1.
Definitely looks Sick and yhea the part about it being a bit like Noita Wand building seems accurate a Little less complex but far more Initialy Rewarding
You should be definitely selling off excess organs you will no longer use to get some of the things like Crit, Life, Brain, and Organ Quality much faster. You can also use the Test Function before each round to test everything you change before starting a round which is handy when figuring out what everything is doing.
Very fun game! But i still wait for a restart option after you died on a run . I dont like that it kicks you back to the main menu after a run . Besides of that it is still a ton of fun
I have been watching your accout for a bit and your Lovecraft games are fun. I wanted to issue a challenge to you. There is a game in steam, I believe really cheap, entitled Darkness Within The pursuit of loath nolder. It's a Lovecraft game and we'll worth your time.
I think the organ mods very very quickly are hard to read for efficacy. Once you put so many things chaining it's more did this arrangement kill things and less is it meaningful.
I just haven't had time to properly rest all year, and due to the nature of my brand of burnout even the rest I get is kinda restless. I'm working on it, but the world doesn't want me to.
So I want to love this game but the regularity of getting crappy builds along with the constant developer updates that nerf aspects is driving me away. There is far too much superior competition in this space. They need to get their acts together.
Lol, I'm sure the game would be more interesting if you didn't kill every enemy before they made it onto the screen. Real victim of your own success there.
@@Skenjin What do you think the difference between the two is then? Because the only time I have heard the term "Swarm Survivor" it's been in reference to this type of game, it's just a different term coined by a different person for the same relatively new genre from what I could tell.
the organ combinations of this game are amazing. the complexity is crazy interesting. I hope to see you play more of this!

I loved loadout. Such a goofy third person shooter that never really found solid footing with potential players.
@@wanderbots Is loadout the game where you could build a quadra-cannon rocketlauncher shooting faster than a machinegun?

Yooo I'm happy you tried this one. Actually looks better than the trailer showed. Def getting this one now
Wander throwing away a 50% damage buff combo with that wings + spine of mammoth combo.
Not that I needed any more damage really.

Nice pick, fun to watch! I think confusion could be mitigated if they allowed you to look at your existing cells when picking up new ones.
This is a weirdly complicated game
Reminds me a bit of Noita and it’s wand creation system.

2:11 I think I'm starting to understand fully how this game works. Oh my child you do not know.
I'm getting Path of Exile vibes from this.
With all the different skill interactions, it looks awesome
There is also the test button, where you can try out a build before starting a wave with it

Basically Noita with a fleshy bullet heaven twist, atleast that's what I get from this
