Welcome to Australia, I've been here since 1987 and never went back. Life is kinder here, much kinder, and a great place for raising children, you won't want to leave. In West Australia we still have a lockout, but we function overall quite well though high street shops in Perth have suffered, that was happening thanks to online shopping anyway. You'll love it here, I think you fit in already.
Nice one Surina, good to see you getting a good break from your career, and just go where the mood takes you! You are giving good advice for fellow clinicians who may follow your path.
Personally, I would change career every 10 years or so and go whatever direction I wished. No matter where I worked, there is always 'office politics' in every profession, it is unavoidable. As such - I just could not be a manager, I was always happier doing hands on stuff. Hopefully your channel will give you some contacts and sage advice from other clinicians to determine your next sareer progression. I could never be a clinician, I just could not stand blood or needles, and I would never get the grades required anyway.
Enjoy Oz, and look at all avenues over the next year or so. Who knows where it will lead, and by the time you are ready to move on, SARS 2 may be a distant memory. Or until SARS 3 pops up....lol.

True, the NHS was overwhelmed and over extorted during COVID. And government didn't even give them a proper pay rise nor support

I just enter NHS system. I knew that there are problems within itself just like and so do my home country's health care system.
Can you do a video sharing your personal opinion on what are the problems? And compare about NHS with Australia health care...

For F3, I am planning to apply for a clinical research F3 job in ophthalmology or a F3 in Australia. Can you directly apply for residency after completing F3 in Australia? Can you make a video about that process too? Thank you so much for your help.
Your videos have been such a help, super informative and enjoyable. Could you if possible in the next video talk a bit about the application processes of different specialties after foundation years? I know GP and Psychiatry are considerably lesser as opposed to a residency in General surgery or Gynecology. If I heard correctly the former ones being only 3 years followed by few exit exams and the latter ones being 8 years including the CST. Is that all across the board? What's the residency training period for say internal medicine or Anesthesiology?
Glad to hear!! I don’t have knowledge of all of the specialities but all info available if you google “[speciality] training pathway UK” (I don’t want to give you wrong/out of date info!) however may look into this with the help of some colleagues if a video like this would be useful.
O&G is separate to CST I’m not sure of the length of training. GP is 3 years that’s correct.
I think you were lucky to be moving to Australia in the latter half of 2021. You avoided the worst of COVID in this country, albeit with a lot of paperwork to get into Australia. As a doctor working in the public system, you will become aware over time of the growing inequity in Australia between patients who have good private health insurance which enables them to access elective procedures in the private sector in much shorter time periods than those who go onto the public waiting list. As an Australian who saw the introduction of Medibank, the precursor of Medicare, in 1975, I have long hoped for an equitable health system but it has eluded Australia. Where there is life, there is hope!
I am a medical student in india and thinking of giving exams. Plab, usmle, amc and stuff. Can you tell me about the exposure you got as junior doctor in terms of patient load and everything
So will you be doing a placement in a certain speciality there or just locuming?
Doing rotations in a mixture of surgical specialists plus some ED too

Will do a full video on this soon for sure. I emailed a lot of hospitals which required a lot of paperwork and interviews but there are plenty of jobs available for GMC registered doctors :)

Hi Doctor. I just watched your CST application video. What happened to your CST application and MRCS part A? Did you manage to secure for CST? if you get it, you will still consider staying in Australia.

I got a job but didn’t want to go straight into training so still decided to come to Australia! I passed MRCS in Sept 2020.

Good for you, go and enjoy life and dont look back. I always believe people should never become a doctor for compassionate reasons but for financial reasons because healthcare should reward good money to those who learn and know how to treat people. If your a doctor for moral reasons you will be destroyed by the job. Focus on your own needs, and never worry what others think, if you can get good money working private or abroad do it. If not then find a better more rewarding job.

Gets the best training in the world and then leaves the NHS!! all doctors who use the NHS should give at least 5 years service once they are qualified.
Im sure youll find something else to moan and complain about!
Dude when your going to be taking away 100k a year eventually I don’t think you would have any room to complain about such little things. Your a doc. There are people who earn less than 20k a year in the U.K. and complain less. Lol
These aren't little things to me or to many of my colleagues. I specifically haven't complained about hours worked or salary earned. This isn't a job you do purely for the money.
