I have a 1981 Colnago Mexico. It is the most beautiful (and temperamental ) bike I have ever owned. Lighting response and speed, but definitely a summer ride.
Can't believe the guy wraps the handle bar tape THE SAME WAY I DO!!!! I never see anyone wrap the bar from top headed down. Everyone starts at the end of THE HOOK and works up. Nice build... the old steel frames are nice..... I have a 1991 Masi Gran Criterium and a 1990 Eddy Merckx SLX.
Hi John-The frame arrived last week. Now so far I've ordered white Time RXS pedals, a white Deda set of handlebars, white Deda seatpost, and next on the list is an Athena Campy Triple in silver. I'm going with the Triple since the lung disease destroyed 25% of my lungs. I don't climb like used to, but I still climb :-)
Dag! Guys are doing this like in a museum. We did it in the living room with pliers. Back then we were just aching to ride. If this is ''classic' me and my Campi Record (prior to Super Record) are friggin' Stone Age!
I know what you mean about the aesthetics. My current fav ride is a 97 blue Mondonico Nemo with Campy Record from the same year. It is just luscious and the Campy parts just frame and enhance the whole look. But to deal with some of the steeper climbs and keep up with all the compacts I've decided to go with an Athena Triple. BTW I spent 3 weeks touring Scotland and Northern England. My most memorable ride was from the Kyle of Lochalsh to Kinlochewe. Just beautiful and it rained a bit.
Beautiful job! The only thing that I don't really like is the wheelset but this is just my opinion. :) Anyway it's beautiful. A Colnago Master(piece). When u say road bike I say Colnago, when you say mountain bike I say Scott! 👍😁
Iain Chudleigh : I totally agree. Looks totally shit such a classic steel frame with the deep section wheels and black components. And then tan handlebar tape and saddle...wtf?! Much better build would be an all chrome component groupset, such as Campag Centaur, a pair of hand built low profile rim wheels, chrome handlebar stem and handlebar, then finished with white saddle and handlebar tape. Retro pimpin’
tried it.. and i was very enthusiastic about it too but: you rub of your hands agains the edges of the tape.. it was not really comfortable for me .. and the tape got really fucked after like month.
The tape is wound correctly, If you start from the top of the bar you don't need the ugly "electrical " tape to hold it in place. Mike Stallard of British cyclo-cross fame www.cyclingarchives.com/coureurfiche.php?coureurid=26286 taught me how to do this in the early 80's when I worked in his bike shop as a kid!
Great bike. But. The only original Master tube was and should be GILCODESIGN. .. lately the Master is no longer up to its fame and in fact we do not know what happened but the Gilcodesign label on the bike is gone :-(
these full carbon seat post will die-they are not for these old frames-the weight leans against 2 sharp edges, and those will cause damage by the steady movement.....päng!--but i agree on the bike, had a red mexico myself!👍🙏
3 different aesthetics going on here that shouldn't be mixed: modern carbon, classic steel racer, and british leather touring - each on their own is great but not in tandem
I feel the classic steel racer looks ok with the British leather touring look, since they're from a similar era, but I agree with you about not mixing the modern carbon.
I think it would look just fine with a black seat and black bar tape...The contrast between the frame and the more modern components would be interesting, but the leather is indeed too much.
Everything was going so well up until the carbon wheels. I can appreciate a modern group set on a vintage frame, but the carbon wheels just look so out of place aesthetically.
@@moi7748 built already. Went with silver accent finish on the groupset and wheelset. Veloflex with tan side. I get compliments when I took it out for a ride.
hello, i have campaniolo karrera, on ahimano 105. frame columbus bating sistem. wheels rigida, made in france. saddle san marco, titanium. cinelli handlebar. i want sale it, no one want bey?
music sux like it was 10yrs ago.. camera sux and shakes and color look wrong - bad lighting, c'mon guys 2k$ frame and video like if it were made by my parents on vacation
ok.. i didn't know it was in chile.. sorry i guess technological and culturar (western wise taken) conditions there won't be like 100% too. video is ok, but these things matter here in Europe and for this you will get a bad rep.
This video editing sucked, cannot you just slow down a bit so we can make out the details and appreciate the bike more? Why have to zoom and pan so much?

This bike is awesome! My heart beats like the wings of a hummingbird for these kinda bicycles!
Frame and italian equipments \o/ love it!
the best re-"cycling" of a steel frame ever seen. Top video !

what a beauty! now I want to go back to a steel bike, like my old Tommasini or Guerciotti
Wow! nice and beautiful !
Most beautiful bike in the world.....
So true Bro!
This vid is the sole reason why I built my own colnago master in sarroni red.
A classical looking groupset in silver would suit this frame much better.
Italians makes dreams🇮🇹🇮🇹!!
Tener este cuadro Colnago es como tener de novia a una top model
las bicicletas son la maquina perfecta
That was stunning
Nice and tasteful production
Screams for Campy Super Record.
This is what I would call a proper bike porn....

Bought a saronni red because of this video.
hello tell me what brand of chrome molybdenum steel is the bicycle frame made of
wow
Would look a lot nicer with classic parts i think.
I think what actually makes it beautiful is the mix between vintage and modern, like a hot rod...

backward taping?
No electrical tape needed, much classier
tried it.. and i was very enthusiastic about it too but: you rub of your hands agains the edges of the tape.. it was not really comfortable for me .. and the tape got really fucked after like month.
Shocking
yes, left-hand thread
Didn't pay attention at handlebar winding school.

@@paulrhancock correctly to you, but not to most.
What kind of bottom braket used in this?
Such a shame about the saddle and tape!! Black / Black would have just looked gorgeous. Or white / white for that matter.
Shure! This is my opinion!.But ideed I do not like the stem, too much modern.
Excuse me,but is the seatpost CHORUS or RECORD Campagnolo?I I suppose yes.
Hi, can you tell me the seat post model? Thanks
is this video editor the one who did "how it's made" series on Discovery?
What saddle it that? It's pretty nice.
my dream
where can I get a saddle like that?
Great bike. But. The only original Master tube was and should be GILCODESIGN. .. lately the Master is no longer up to its fame and in fact we do not know what happened but the Gilcodesign label on the bike is gone :-(
Built this bike then sold it several years ago!! WHY??
Bianchi all the way.........

nice frame and paint but its not cool with new look wheels keep it real
Kinda agree with this.
I like it better with newer components, looks good and works good
yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
To dream
i'll take 7 please ;-)
goes off to do the lotto.
The stem does not fit with the rest of the bike.
Its Super Hands
Let us know it is when you get it!

I agree. This is wrong on so many levels.
I think steel racers can look great with modern components
I do agree with you about the bar tape being a poor choice

pedro pj 😂😂😂
Brown bar tape and saddle ,🤮The rest is niceish 👍🏻
these deep dish wheels are very bad for the look of this old school bike!
I'm a buyer for $179.99... is it for sale?
Mitch 1977 yes not this particular bike but the frameset. In addition to that rhe frameset is going to set you back to 2000 somthing dollars
street N' Dirt fighters wow thanks. It's a nice one. I knew they were big money. Didn't quite know they were that much.

Yup. Have to be alloy.
I have this frame
