The workings of the cable tipper trailer

A discussion on the angles of the tipper mechanism and how 90 degrees is the critical number.

The brilliance of this is that the initial lifting is being done at the front giving the greatest leverage when the scissors are at it's weakest, then once the scissors open up then it's at it's strongest as well as the load getting easier the further up it goes. Genius.

Thanks for your comment. This concept is not my design, I simply worked out the system and modified it to suit a tandem.

Awesome design mate. I wanna go one better and have the entire mechanism *below* the height of the trailer sides. Ie. No turret or frame standing upright just like the hydraulic ram one's... haven't figured it out yet lol

I made a tipper trailer with a winch but mine had the high arm with a pulley on top I use rope and no problem at all
Must be different with your sisser style

exactly. your lift is constant at the front with the high arm. your main focal point in the see saw fulcrum lever is the high arm itself.

Thanks for your comment Matt. It's a ebay special rated at 14000 lb capacity in dragging weight.
I've worked on 8000 lb as a lifting capacity so not to overrate it.
