    You guys are lucky to have those stores near you. My town only has Walmart for boardgames so we rely on the internet lol. Times up is great!! Sometimes we play by having everyone do their own cards with index cards that way everyone feels like they contributed something of their own. Push is a lot of fun! glad it's getting some exposure with your channel haha.

      You are also lucky because I live in Taiwan so all the stores only sell board games in Chinese, and shipping over here is a bit complicated but we make it work.

    If you like Time's Up you should definitely try Monikers! It's the same game but the prompts are even better! Also Tuscany is a great expansion!

    401 Games has always been a Magic the Gathering stronghold. When it was a convenience store at 401 Yonge St. back in the 90s, M:TG slowly took over their business. I moved away from Toronto and stopped playing Magic but would pop in every couple of years when I was visiting family. It was interesting seeing their store morph as all the other game stores in downtown slowly shutdown and they picked the slack.

    Cool!! I've not shopped in-store there since the pandemic began yet it's still my primary choice for online purchases. My dad used to take me to play M:tg back when they were at their original location at 401 Yonge St. (hence the name).

    I LOVE the garden on wheels. Thanks again for taking us with you on another great trip to your FLGS. That clearance shelf was so tempting. I wish I had game stores like this near me. Though maybe it's good I don't.
    Northguard....I want that one! And Frances, you just need to get Robinson Crusoe. It's good solo, yes, but equally good at 2p, 3p, and 4p.
    Times Up sounds exactly like Monikers. I wonder which came first.

  • @stephens2401
    @stephens2401 2 года назад +3

    Robinson Crusoe is amazing solo and also at 2 but probably no more than that. It's incredibly thematic and a ton of fun even when you lose.

    • @LudoTechWorld

      I agree.
      "even when you loose", yeah, and that happens a lot :D But I agree it's so thematic that it doesn't matter, just experiencing the game is tons of fun!

  • @CG_Hali
    @CG_Hali 2 года назад +1

    Thanks, I order there the most and it's interesting to see. Good tips. Yeah, very loud. One should shop there with earbuds and nice music :) I prefer 401 in general, I have achieved Silver Loyalty which gives me an extra 2% off. Check at the bottom of their page to find the rewards program. You get 1% for Bronze, 2% off for Silver and if you bought a ton (like over $5000) you get 3% Gold. So most games that are already the lowest prices in the country there get a tiny bit cheaper that way.
    Oh and good choice on A&W! Jealous!

    Tuscany is a really interesting expansion to Viticulture, I just picked it up recently, primarily for solo. While it opens up the game and makes it a bit easier in a way, it also increases the AI target score so makes it harder in that sense. Hope you enjoy it!

    I noticed you eyeing up Aquatica…. Great game! I really like it. I’m a big deckbuilder fan and it has a bit of that, but the way you explore/conquer locations, raising them from the deep, sliding the up on your board to trigger actions, etc, is such a cool mechanic and is very satisfying. Definitely worth looking into.

    What you described with your 'grail' find: that is the ABSOLUTE BEST FEELING in gaming. *I* felt it when you described it! I'm so glad you found you that! Ortus Regni...the expansion that you found is a great card game but it's not one that I always recommend. It's very hard to grasp because there are about 12 different cards, no writing on the cards and they do like 5 different things each. Beautiful game but I think it's geared to people who really enjoy the 2 player head to head games. I was just marveling that even the expansion was there. Great video!

    Back when I was just getting into the hobby, about ten years ago or so, my friends and I played Times Up and I didn’t even know it. We called it bowls because we used bowls to pass our made up topics to use for the game. It plays exactly like you mentioned, even if you don’t know of something specific, the word association helps in the second round. I’m glad I know that now, it’s a fun game.
