Here is where I write things to appease the algorithm:
I'm Luna and I make videos about Critical Role, Dungeons and Dragons, and other nerdy things that take my fancy! You'll find theories, hidden details, DM tips, campaign stories, and more! I primarily cover D&D but will occasionally dabble into other RPGs as well.
This project is unofficial fan content and is not approved or endorsed in any way by Critical Role.

CORRECTION LUIS CARAZO PLAYED ZERXUS 😫
(I know it looks like the Matron is coming for me herself - I'm just exhausted after a huge week haha! Hope you enjoy the video! xx)
Get some rest!! And you're good at catching things I miss in crit role episodes.
1. Gloamglut is so charming and I love him.
2. I really loved the direction that Matt went with the Matron's origins. We've all been led to believe she's some kind of usurper, but having her ascension be an act of love was really touching.
3. I love that Travis got the "How do you want to do this?" on Vespin twice.
2. I like the direction he went, but will miss my head canon that Ludinous was secretly the old god of death, pulled into a mortal form by the Matron.
@@zane4218 that is such a cool theory omg
I love that Matt designed the fight to be agains a Wizard, a Sorcerer, and a Warlock. Really allowed him to have fun with high level spellcasters
That moment where Laudna’s thread turned golden as it LITERALLY “tethered” with Imogen is a moment I’ll never forget.
There’s hope for them yet.💜🖤
If I had a nickel for every time that Travis has killed Vespin Chloras, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot but it's awesome it happened twice lol
Dr doofensmirtz is that you?
😂😂😂😂😂
I never had a firm opinion on the Matron of ravens but i have to admit that after the scene we got in Vox machina where she sais to not be afraid of her because "death gives meaning to life" i started seeing her more of a real mother.
She really seems like a god that wants the best for her childrens and even in the last moments she will give them a hug and send them to something else
I had always suspected that the twist would be that the Elder god of death was corrupt or inept and she took his place to restore balance.
I hadn't expected that they were in love and conspired, even though it had been hinted at.
I kind of love it, it's thematically more layered, given the current story and the Elder god's fate.
In an 80s action movie, anyone who talks about what they are going to do after it is all over, dies.
Thank you for everything you do! :)
Thank YOU for your support! 💖
This breakdown was as always fantastic. With all the theories around the Matron, it’s great to have some answers.
I loved that she said she made sure the Rite of Ascension could not be replicated. Maybe BH could’ve asked her for a Rite of Demotion (corporate life kicking in) to make gods or entities (like predathos) mortal/contained in an humanoid form
I am sooooo curious to see if the Matron of Ravens just alluded to the Luxon being that previous process of death! It’d be fascinating if the Kryn Dynasty’s story of creation is, in fact, more or less the truth of it.
THANK GOODNESS! I needed this breakdown, thank you!
You're welcome! Hope it's helpful 💖
It is so nice to have a breakdown, thanks Luna!!
It would be crazy if they could have reunited the existing beacons and somehow brought the Luxon back as a way to fight Predathos. Are we supposed to be rooting for the destruction of the gods now? I can't imagine how that would work out. Great breakdown and recap.
Been waiting for this vid! Was a little confused by the episode so am looking forward to your analysis 😌
Have a great time at pax 😊 we'll be here waiting for the pax recap 😄
Hearing the thought/theory I had about the Matron was right just made me too happy.
As an aside, I really do hope they save Vax and in the end of all this, he and Kiki can actually be together. (yes, I know, the hopium is strong)
It is very intriguing to me that the domain of the matron includes death but also fate and winter, as these were the domains of the fallen gods. I wonder if the last god of death took over those domains first or if he helped the matron take their domains when she took his.
Nice video, i love your breakdowns!
Thankyou!
A novel about the Raven Queen and her divine predecessor would be amazing
Also, I'm very glad that this episode finally confirmed that the Luxon isn't Predathos! I admired the theory but didn't like it very much XD
The bob was bobbin' for the Raven Queen 😂
I'm 100% here for Laudna ascending to replace the Matron...
Thank you for the recap. Have a great time at PAX - stay hydrated, take care of yourself, take some healthy-ish snacks.
Can’t wait to hear all about your panels and encounters.
love you for always Luna!
The way I was SCREAMING this episode!!
Recap and breakdown into one works great too! :)
I'm hoping a certain someone takes the opportunity to thank the Hells for "returning" Bertrand.
I love the recaps, I genuinely had a hard time with figuring out what was going on 😂
My theory is that the Luxon is a myth created by the gods to cover up that they (probably lead by the god of death) created the beacons to contain the process of rebirth. That's why consecution is possible and why the other faiths invite the Kryn Dynasty to their meetings even while shunning many similar ideas.
Was *just* wondering when the next recap vid would be coming!
Also, do you think you’ll talk about vox machina season 3?
Yes I do want to do some season 3 videos but it will be a little while as I’m flat out with pax and life! I haven’t even had time to watch it yet 😭
Travis using Fruit Roll-Up as a verb is so real of him
So much going on, just wait until all 3 campaign characters come together. This a thick soup.
I am so in love with the Matron, and I was so enchanted by the scene in the show. (I don't watch the actual play. it's a little too chaotic for me to be able to follow) But oh my god(dess) the Matron of Ravens. We stan a death positive queen.
Also I genuinely appreciate this because it's a great summary, and I saw people reacting to it and I wanted to know more and this is exactly what I wanted. thanks!
Great video as usual!
I was so pissed that no one asked the matron who she was as a mortal
Or what the old god of death was called
So, the Matron said she made the ability to recreate her ritual gets me wondering, "how did Vespen and The Whispered One manage to recreate it?"
But then I thought:
Well technically Vespen's rite failed, it's just the Lord of the Hells decided to use him as a pawn instead of turning him to paste, like so many before him.
Now as to the Whispered One. What if, just hear me out, a sliver of the previous god of death's power found its way into a mortal shell, similar to what the gods did in Downfall. And that sliver gave him just enough knowledge to recreate the Rite of Ascension (or at least some version of it) to allow him to become a god?
The Matron said that she made sure that the Rite of Ascension cannot be replicated - I wonder if she didn't only need her predecessor's help to craft it, but also performing it needs the consent of the god that it's meant to replace?
@@lottadum1451 That is something I have also wondered, and would be another reason to add to the list of why Vespin failed. Maybe they do have to be willing to be replaced and work together to switch positions.
It’s not Christian’s character, is Luis Carazo.
Engagement for the engagement god!
Thanks for the recap and cutting in the Matron scenes from LOVM, I had forgotten about those. Do you think you will ever put content like this on Spotify?
"...and Orym is just sad" Orym is *always* sad XD
PAX Aus! Well safe travels and welcome to down under. I live in Brisbane so not making it to Melbourne which is rather shameful considering you are travelling 24 hours to be there 😅. Be sure to bring summer, winter and spring clothing because Melbourne will give you all seasons in 1 day
I saw in the cool down section of CR, that they voiced frustration on forgetting to ask the Matron about FCG and if his spirt did pass on?
Luis Carazo played xerzus ilerez
Ahh NO 😫😫😫 that’s what I get for writing my script late at night
@@Luboffin greetings from Venezuela and that happens don't worry still love your recaps
I have always been a fan of the god or goddess of death (depending on setting). Exandria's version of it is my favorite.
The Matron says at one point that they will all meet again. which is normally their reassuring line referring to the afterlife system they will all be in once they die. however they mentioned that the current afterlife system will cease to exist once the gods are gone, and will be replaced by a reincarnation cycle. Given this change they didn’t address what will happen to all the souls already in the afterlife once the gods leave. Will Will be lost to Orym forever when that happens?
I think it will be interesting to see what it looks like if the original cycle reasserts itself. Infinite rebirth and reincarnation. What form would the reborn souls take? Would they be reborn into human bodies or something else?
It might have been during the cooldown, but they were upset that they forgot to ask about FCG...what were they going to ask? Were they going to try to bring him back? I guess I am confused.
I only regret they forgot to ask her about FCG having a soul
I thought they would have asked what is her name and if FCG was able to cross over
Please let them free Vax!! He and Keyleth deserve a happy ending!
