You can tell that if someone thoroughly enjoys hearing about a game they've never played, then the creator has done a great job making the video. What you say is important not just for a game like Psychonauts, but storytelling in games in general. Good work as usual, Razzmatazz.
As a fan of Psychonauts and The Milkman Conspiracy being one of my favourite levels in the game, it's nice to see someone give it an in depth look. In all my time of playing and replaying Psychonauts, I've never thought about it that way. Good work Razbae, keep it up!

God, this shit pulled at my heartstrings. That fucking music, man. Psychonauts being one of my favorite games of all time, I completely agree with everything you said. This was a brilliantly constructed video, dude. God, making me want to play it again, and even make a video on it, something I've always wanted to do. Even though I have no idea how I'd tackle it to do it justice. But that'd be a long way off. Anyway, great video man, you did a great job at explaining the complexities arising from such a simple game.
I can't think of anything else that appeals to such a wide audience in the way that Psychonauts does. This was an amazing commentary on storytelling! Great work Razbae

I think immediately writing off something child-friendly is one of the most immature things one can do.
At the same time I think there's a very noticeable difference in media that is tweaked to be fit for younger audiences and media that at its core can be meaningful to them.
Your opening lines basically covered one of the most frustrating aspect to me, about stereotyping in mediums. Well articulated.

Thank you for giving my stuff a look. My advice to you is just start making stuff as soon as you can. If you lead a busy life, set aside like 30 minutes every day to start writing/brainstorming something. There is no better time to start something like this than right now.

Hey, awesome video man! Took a chunk to succinctly analyze the whole. Also, I like how you brought up Pixar. This is their signature storytelling technique, and the South Park guys similarly fawned over it. Taking a super simple concept, but finding the unique interstices. Inside Out’s about a young girl acclimating to a new school. Pixar takes the idea to the moon. Similarly, Psychonauts takes the nostalgia of summer camp to another planet entirely. Totally fresh but warm and familiar like a childhood blanket. Keep up the good work, I’ll be watching!
Fantastic video. I love the analysis. However, I feel you definitely could have and should have expanded to more examples from the game. I agree that the level is fantastic and popular but it's just one level. All of the end game levels focus heavily on inner demons controlling the self. This is evident with all of the asylum patients and especially oleander himself. And only when raz overcame even his own inner demons (which he did with emotional support) did the player win the game. The mechanics, story, and gameplay all heavily mesh with the themes. Having blasts and pyrokinesis where fun but they didn't work on most of the bosses and stronger enemies. This seems like an obvious gameplay choice to make the game more enjoyable and difficult but it also serves to show that there are other ways to solve a problem rather than immediate violence. All this is merely this man's opinion. I appreciate your video. Subscribed and liked and look forward to more. Keep it up :)
