- In this week's episode of Insights, host Eric Hacopian analyzes the latest developments in Azerbaijan and calls out the lack of consequences for those responsible for the Artsakh crisis.
First, Eric discusses Azerbaijan’s illegal kidnapping of former Artsakh presidential cabinet members after the fall of Karabakh. Analyzing Aliyev's authoritarian tactics, he examines why this is a gross violation of international law that cannot be ignored.
Second, Eric shares his thoughts on Armenian Prime Minister Pashinyan's watershed speech to the European Parliament in Strasbourg.
Finally, Eric covers the ongoing demands from Armenians worldwide for real accountability over the mismanagement that surrendered Karabakh. He argues for transparency and justice to avoid similar outcomes in the future.

I loved the first half of this video.
The second half, I'll just say this. The truth is that Armenias leaders have not been allowed by Russia to modernize and protect Artsakh. What started as an insurgency was not allowed to be self defensible. It was meant to be dependent on Russia by design-militarily. Holding them to account would mean acknowledging Russias influence at the detriment of the claim to Armenias independence. At the heavy cost of a generation of Armenian men, and those who lived in Artsakh, Armenia finally seems to be getting its independence for real in 2023. I'm sure Azeris are jealous, and Aliyev is nervous.
I agree, something should be said by someone. And Armenia does need a vision, other than "diverse".
Pashinian made the speech! Great! When will he submit the official request for Armenia’s acceptance into European Union?!
No, Mr Hacopian, the church and all the former leaders of Armenia or Artsakh, including those imprisoned, , had a clear vision - serving Russia.
Correct. Eric himself is one of them.....
As an Armenian living in Europe (Italy), having Pashinyan speak at the European Union was incredibly exciting and probably also one of the most important moments in Armenia's post-Soviet history. 🇦🇲❤
you are proud of someone that lost Artsakh and now is getting ready to give Syunik to enemy? why?
@@eric6616you are proud of some corrupt guys who sold Armenia out to Russia and did nothing over the last decade to strengthen the capability of the country to diversify it's security, diplomacy and economy? It's easy to blame the current pm. I am not a fan of him but in comparison to others, he is trying to do something as to be in Turko Russo slavery. Russia sold Armenians out, years before.
Artsakh was an autonomous oblast responsible for itself in terms of military defense, the CSTO couldn't provide to assistance
Nobody listened to Nikol Pashas empty words.
Empty words? PM Pashinyan gave several excellent speeches ,the speech to the parliament was the lead to $ 95 million dollars for the Artsakh refugee. The world has a better understanding of the magnitude of the situation because of those speeches. And just because you don't agree with all of his politics doesn't mean you have to stab him in the back while he's trying to get help with the victim's of ethnic cleansing. Trying to incorporate 100000 refugees into your system can be difficult and costly,
give the man a opportunity to make it happen.
Also I stand by the Armenian Quarter.
Very well said bravo
Armenia must fight for the release of all Artzakh officials! Whatever they did, if they are guilty before the people of Artzakh, they must face the trial in Armenia
I agree ☝️
The actors escorting the kidnapped leaders really need to rewatch the movies they got the push head down from, it's for when you put them in cars to avoid them hurting them selfs not to lead them anywhere. Azeri clowns.
why no one listening to Eric? He is the only genius living on earth. Every word he utters is brilliant))
I love your irony.
Armenian diaspora and their fightingspirit is destroyed because of the tons of failures of pashinyan that led to the destruction of our state.. Its sad but its true...
What?PM Pashinyan
8:02 - 9:25 maybe the "opposition" should say something like that, if they want to distance themselves from the Russian hands up their puppet arses.
imaging a president that blames today's crisis on past leaders, it's unheard of and it leads to the same attitude or irresponsibility of political leaders. such a person should either resign or be made to resign
It's not unheard of. And today's crisis is mostly to blame on the former government by making the army from being the strongest to the weakest of the Caucasus.
@@debozebuurman when he came in 2018, his henchmen were protesting in front of the Armenian Apostolic Church for 9 months threatening Christians and clergy.
His first guest was Elton John he must have been entertain him instead of declaring Artsakh a part of Armenia. prior to 2020 it would have been possible to acheive this. he lost Artsakh and that belongs to him.
@@eric6616 We were gonna lose Artsakh one way or the other. We had our last chance in ~2013 when Serzh's second term started.
Are you saying that the actions of politicians only affect their lifetime in office?
Yes! Accountability for all!
Armenia moving to theWest and then EU then inevitably to NATO. recipe for disaster sounds like the road to Ukraine for me
Russia can send it's laptop in Baku for the the called zangezur corridor but that will be definitely the end of the Russian presence and sympathy in Armenia. That's for sure. Armenia is not going to expell Russia, just diversify it's security Options.
@@owlmirror178Exactly!
We don’t have a border with Russia!
Eric you been prasing Russian government before...... What happened????
You have memory loss ?????
I generally agree with you Eric, but I disagree that the current administration is MORE to blame for the current situation than the previous. This war was coming, and the only way to have avoided it altogether was to give up land for "peace" without a fight, which was really not an option. So really there was no alternative to war.... but who failed to prepare for war? The former regime who spent 25 years of "victorious" peace looting the military? or Pashinyan who had 2 years time to build what he could?
You're correct but the current government had time to adjust their security options and let US help them out and they also didn't do a good enough job of cracking down on the corrupt. Instead they just relied everything on Russia, whereas the azeris got all kinds of western weapons. Point is the current govt had a chance to prevent this. Doesn't mean the former regimes were better
@@hovsepouzounian3399 ehh maybe... But for some reason Idon't think the US was rushing to send Armenia weapons, especially with us being a former close ally to Russia, with Trump in power in the US.
I know it’s hard for us Armenians. But why giving up the land for some autonomy was not an option? I guess we all knew this was coming. Unfortunately we sacrificed thousands of our young people for nothing. I still hear some of my older relatives and friends talk about us taking back Artsakh back in the future. Not sure if people in Hayastan have similar aspirations.
Pashinyan is definitely the ideal leader. But I think he tries hard. He knows that we need to make peace with our enemies and secure our borders.
I personally blame diaspora more than previous governments
@@DeepLineDesignActually Trump is pro Russia.
Eric seems to live in his own fantasy world largely detached from reality.
The EU council has signed an MOU with the autocratic regime in Baku to “serve” 18% of Europe’s Gas demand by 2027, currently at just 3% , BUT, for this petty 3% Charles M. , EU president and the all too infamous Ursula of the EU Commission, to name few, danced with the tyrant of Baku a tango , or cha cha cha .. decanting the morality of western values to the latrine .. and now eagerly awaiting what would the decanted proclaimed morality of Europe stands against the PM’s speech in Brussels highlighting the moral human liberty being blatantly undermined by tyranny , in this day of age .. Moment of truth between the masqueraded 3% Gas worth of western democracy , ..OR.., rightful human morals stand … time to tell , and hopefully history to bear witness and decisive accountability..
