    Average normal strain, also known as axial specific strain, is determined by the lengthening or contraction of a line segment per unit length, that is, the change in length from its initial length. In the case of the exercise in question in the video, the average normal strain is determined by increasing the circumference of the rubber balloon in relation to its initial length of the circumference.
    𝜀 = ∆/L0 = (𝜋df - 𝜋d0)/𝜋d0
    𝜀 = (df - d0)/d0
