  • PROBLEM 2.2: The length of an unstretched thin elastic tape is 375 mm. If the tape is stretched around a pipe with an outside diameter of 125 mm, determine the normal strain in the tape.
    ✅ My ebook with + 1400 exercises. resolved from ResMat: go.hotmart.com...
    The average normal strain in the elastic tape is given by the variation in the length of the tape from its initial length. In the case of the problem in question, what would this variation in the length of the tape be?
    Now, as the tape was stretched around a pipe, so its final length will be equal to the length of the pipe's circumference, right?
    Therefore, the average normal strain of the elastic band is given by:
    𝜀 = ∆L/L = 𝜋d/L - 1, where:
    d = outside diameter of the pipe;
    L = tape length.
