I used to operate a Dominator 96 in the 1980s,doing custom harvesting here in the UK , at that time they were considered as quite a large combine, great to see them still working.
Another good one Mike!! I like the simplicity of the operators cab. The new rigs rely to heavily on automation. Many thanks to the Pontiac farmer for inviting us to his farm..
I like the sound of the engine I have some sales literature from 1981 on the 76 and 96 combines and on the side panels it says "marketed through Ford dealers". At the 1985 farm progress show at Knightstown IN they had blue and green Class combines on display....good video
Impressed with the patina of the combine, a lot of fuel has been burnt in that engine over the years and it shows :) Also impressed with how well it keeps up with modern day corn plants, back then they where barely half of what they are now a days.
Another great find Mike.We had a Long Agricultural equipment dealer in Denmark Georgia in the 80's.They primarily sold Peanut and Tobacco equipment. They also sold Long tractors and that same Claas combine. There is still one of the combines on the vacant lot.
This was a cool video. I assume the front wheels are more recent Class rims? I would imagine that Ford would have distributed these with white rims like those on the rear.
Great video . Mike in all your travels have you seen anyone that still plows the fields ,disk and cultivate the row crops like a few years ago ? I wondering if everyone has now started no til farming . Always great to see your new videos
the grain bin is visible by looking thrue the window behind the driver, you first have the engine bay and the engine bay than also has a window between it and the graintank.
It looks like they cut the muffler off that machine, but left the straps to hold it on this one! It makes for a noisier machine with a sooty side panel.
@@miketolbot yeah definitely not the other way around like on modern combines where the grain tank sits behind the cab (with a window to look directly into it when the operator turns their head, and a bunch of cameras and sensors for looking at it from other angles and relaying information back to a screen like moisture levels, yield monitoring, and precise numbers on how full the tank actually is), and then behind that is the engine compartment

That is Awesome to see a Older Claas Combine. Something you dont see everyday.

"CLAAS-IC" The old dog is still running with the hounds. Thanks for sharing.
Its great to see that class 96 me and my dad got it and its incredible harvester
That's an awesome combine Mike. Thanks to the farmer for asking you to come out .
Thanks for a very special corn harvest video👍👍 nice to see a dominator out in the field, especially a blue one👍😉
this is awesome, we run a Dominator 108SL here in Holland, great machines!!
Oldie but goodie! 😉
Thanks a lot for the video! 😊👍🏻
Thx Mike, havn't heard that sound for over 30 years :)
My parents have a 1976 pamphlet with various ford equipment and the ford combine looks just like this. Cool to see one run.
en plus elle avale 6 rang !!!! champion
I love the videos of the older equipment
Great awesome video mike
That's a Class looking combine, I like the colours. Nice how they didn't repaint it & let it grow old gracefully 👌
funny how all the big boys have a center cab too nice combine equivalent to a ford 642 nice video
I was an apprentice in Australia from 1979 to 1983 (where they sold Claas combines) and I worked on them from time to time.
Impressed with the patina of the combine, a lot of fuel has been burnt in that engine over the years and it shows :) Also impressed with how well it keeps up with modern day corn plants, back then they where barely half of what they are now a days.
génial on en voit plus beaucoup des Dominator comme ça 👍👍👍

Long have been sold bizon combines from Poland, they were blue color too.

Loving the short to the point less repetitious videos. 😁
I had one of the Ford/Claas combines way back then. Mine was older than the one in the video and was powered by a 6 cylinder gas engine.
Good video farmhand Mike
There was a farmer in our area that had one of these said it was a good machine. Just wore it out.
oh boy, this little german combine and these big fields 😎
we are farming some 40km from Harsewinkel and prefer John Deere 🙄
Love your drone shots I really want to get a drone for our farm to see it from a new view!

Cool video
For its age it's still eatin healthy

Yes still a few guys pulling a moldboard plow. Actually just filmed on in Illinois yesterday.
Yeah, combines have definitely come a long way and have grown in size tremendously, 120 bushels is extremely tiny for a grain tank on a combine
Definitely a lot less computerized compared to more modern combines too.
Dominators were pretty common in the UK back then.
Great video Mike, a very interesting combine. How does farmer know when his grain bin is full. The grain bin is enclosed from what I could see.

Great video footage Mike! What is the open hatch over the grain tank for?
That is the grain tank.
I once saw a red Massey-Ferguson Dominator once in Canada. Did MF sell Claas combines too once?
They did for awhile
Was a Massey combine built by claas I believe
Awsome video mike, were they a rotary machine ?
No this was a conventional straw walker machine.
I belive one of my customers had one!😁
It looks like they cut the muffler off that machine, but left the straps to hold it on this one! It makes for a noisier machine with a sooty side panel.
😎😎
Where's the grain tank and how many bushels does it hold???
The grain tank is under the open hatch on top. Holds approximately 120 bushel. I though I mentioned that in the video.
Right behind the cab just enclosed
What did he say 120 bu. I think.
These cornrows are not semilar to eachother, why?
He's picking the end rows (turn rows) in this video.
how may acres can do per hour?
It's hard to say. As you can see they were not unloading on the go.
10ton/hour
I like Mike less videos on RUclips from the imperial co California 🌽🌽🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🚜🚜
She’s a ole one but still works
I'm no engineer but I think there must be a better direction to route the exhaust.
The engine sits between the cab and the grain tank so thats why. There should also be a silencer on the exhaust originally.
