It's so weird how Pierre McGuire goes on and on about Tavares after the Eberle goal when Ellis and Eberle made the really impressive plays on that shift.
Tavares goes into three Russians and comes up with the puck, is able to throw it on net. yeah without Ellis the game is done. Without Eberle pretty much just not fucking up the game is done. But the most skill on that play was Tavares.
Haha… typical McGuire tho… Can you believe it? “I CAN…. Blah blah blah ice the puck… the crowd was waiting on Tavares magical play…. Tavares…. MAGICAL PLAY” 😂😂 man listening to Pierre is always so cringe and this made me laugh. Good memories Good job Eberle
Man nobody ever mentions the fact that Ryan Ellis whos about 5’7”.... launched off his feet into the air, with his arm, into the boards, to keep that puck in the offensive zone and made that ENTIRE play possible for Eberle to score what might possibly be the most clutch goal in not only Canadian World Junior’s Hockey.. but IIHF World Junior’s Hockey history ever!!! Unbelievable moment. I was 15 at the time, standing an inch away from my TV the last minute of that game, and went absolutely bananas when Eberle scored that goal!!!
Everyone says that Pierre ruined the moment, but I'm pretty sure everyone cheering for Canada in this thread was going ape shit crazy when he scored and didn't hear a word that Pierre said.
Gotta love Pierre Mcguire ruining the moment. "I CAN!, CUZ KULITOV ICED THE PUCK...BLAH BLAH BLAH." Yea ok, you're a hockey analyst but let us enjoy the moment. I still remember when Eberle scored with 5 seconds left. It took me like 10 seconds to realize what happened lol. Eberle is still one of my favorite players to this day.
I was there that night and it was absolutely insane from start to finish but from Eberle's tying goal to the shootout, not one person in the building sat down. It was so loud, we couldn't even hear the music for the anthem after the game so we were almost a full verse ahead. Absolute madness.
Alexander Shaw haha yea I was just thinking the same, so many long walk in wristers and then that one where he’s not even close to hugging the post when the play is directly beside him.. brutal.
This is probably one of the best hockey games in Canada history. I remember watching t with my family. I thought it was all over but of course Canada would find a way :P
Such a great call on the tying goal by Gord Miller, and then without any shame that turd burger Pierre McGuire has to blow the moment. Glad we don't see him on TSN anymore.
You're right actually, that looks immensely like Zach Parise's equalizer...incidentally that game was an absolute classic! Certainly a much more intense game than that warm-up against Russia that passed for a Quarter-Final
McGuire, such an utter dork... always knew there was something odd about that type of personality in the game of hockey - the oddity? he's from the USofA.
I can, because of the fact that, Klyukin ices the puck, and look at the Russian body language now, they're crushed. Tavares had to step up and make a magical play. The crowd loves it, Tavares' magical play...
On this night, I was driving back to Ontario from Nova Scotia, so I had to listen to this game on the radio, I nearly shat myself when the Russians took the lead. Intense is what this game was to the end.
This was the best tournament I can remember. My dad got me tickets to a few games for Christmas. Including the gold medal game. I told him I didn’t want to go to the gold medal game if Canada wasn’t playing 😂 it was dramatic but everything worked out

Tavares, Benn, Kane, Pietriangelo, Eberle. Man this team was stacked.
the defense too... Subban and Ellis were sooo goof

a moment that every Canadian hockey fan remembers and cherishes and then .... There's Pierre Mcquire.
Getting this recommended after the 2025 disaster hurts all the more. We used to be so good.
this was the best game in world junior hockey history, hands down
Toews scoring 3 times in the same shootout plenty other been so many great ones this is top 5 can't really say it's the greatest
+Jordan Hanson that russia canada game was the best.. man the games in ottawa were the best
Gold medal game 2016 Finland Russia, maybe a candidate for the best? russia tied the game with 6.9seconds to go
ok so if Canada has to be in it, then how bout the quarter final between Finland and canada in 2016 juniors? it ended 6-5 with Laine scoring the GWG
2010 gold medal game was the best hockey game I've ever watched
So we all still get chills every time right?

Wow does watching that game tier ever get my heart racing. Still the greatest moment I've experienced in WJHC
Yeah Tavares' magical play... sure. Ellis made the pinch of the tourney, and Eb's with the skilled hands. I love this shit.

Yet another amazing moment for Canadian hockey. What a goal by Eberle to tie it up with 5.4 seconds on the clock!
"CAN YOU BELIEVE IT" will never get old.

What a game that was! I remember how excited I was when they won
