Didn't know the vw type 1 valve compressor tool, also worked on type 4 heads. I read that the tool needed to be modified to work with the type 4 heads.
Great video! Do you use something to sand or clean up the ridge inside the combustion chamber where the jug sits? Also maybe we can do some videos with both of our 67 firebirds when we move there around May. I should have my frame rails and trunk pan done by then.
Yes, I will take each jug or cylinder barrel and put the same valve lapping stuff on them.. then spin then around the head to make a perfect seal. Unlike our Pontiacs the Porsche/VW motors don't use a head gasket.. Crazy Germans lol Heck ya I can't wait to see your Bird and do some videos together!!!
Great job brother now get the 400 pontiac engine done you can do it
As soon as the machine shop lets me know the block is ready... its 400 time

No mods needed as you can see in the video, it works great!
@@ArrowheadGarage You're the only one, that made video, using that type 1 tool, on a type 4 head on RUclips.👍👍
Great how to video. Do you use the same spring compressor on the Pontiac heads? You make it look easy. Thanks for sharing this.👍
Hey guys, no I will use a hand held spring compressor for the Pontiac heads... don't worry its coming!!!!

Thank you JB!!!
What about the spring compressor tool?
The ones with the twist knob won't work for Porsche or VW, however the old style c clamp ones will!
What about the valve stem seals
Mine are still good, so we left them until a full rebuild on the motor down the road.
