i think ppl should get a flip flop hub with their fixed gear so that if fixed gear is too hard for them they can try single speed then gradually move to fixed gear again
You raise some good points, and I agree more people need to try it. I also often rely on foot-jamming when on casual rides, but if you're promoting fixed gear perhaps mention some form of retention
@@phlufff_fxd yeah I should’ve touched on the necessity of foot retention (as I currently don’t have any on my bike rn)… I am definitely not the best example for safety on a fixie, but that’s also why I love them so much
@@Aatrox_FLCC fair point, but I’ve ridden 2 centuries on my fixies so I don’t necessarily think there are any restrictions on how or where you can ride fixed gear
@@cyclist2906 I never said that you need to ride with no brakes. That is just how I ride. I am advocating for everyone to ride fixed gear they can use brakes if they want.
Best of both worlds: single speed freewheel. It's simple, lightweight, cheap, less maintenance than fixed or geared. Runs forever and it doesn't make you rethink your life choices everytime you go downhill. It's way more fun when you're just riding a bike and not just actively trying to survive.
hopefully I can buy my first fixed gear this year, been wanting to ride a fixed gear cause I've been borrowing fixed gear from my friends while saving money. I want my own tho lol
Comparing fixies to carbon racing bikes is like comparing apples and oranges. Two different purposes and consumers. Two different riding styles and goals. Riding a non fixed bike a racing cyclist is safer for what youre doing. And if you cant pase yourself without beeign forced by a fixie in communal trafic, well then learn how to or dont ride a bike
@@SoraKazen that’s the great thing about fixies though is you can find them super cheap and they will still be super reliable! You can even convert a vintage road bike frame to a fixed gear as long as it has horizontal drop outs!

this is probably the worst cycling advice on youtube, advocating a fixed gear bike without brakes to people with no experience.

Everybody should ride a fixed gear bike,

i agree well said
You don’t use foot retention?
I do, not so much for pedaling but more for breaking.
where is your straps my friend
Foot retention is a necessary in my eyes i also think that’s why when people try fixed they don’t enjoy it as much or feel safe in certain situations
@@Ilia-t3j yeah I need some… was just lazy when I was building this bike and didn’t buy pedals that allowed for foot straps
I only fixie with pedal straps. Off road I run a front break.
