Lessons from last year's trip (1) West side lakes have suckers and you should check for them after wet portages with sandals. (2) Katadihn gravity filter was garbage and clogged after 3 days and could not be cleaned (3) campsites filled up early (maybe lots of no permit folks b/c 2020?) so if you plan an itinerary with long days, you will struggle to find campsites.

Use a backpack with a waist belt. Granite Gear packs are awesome but not cheap.

As of March 2021, the cot is NOT "approaching" $200 unless by approaching you mean $50 more than $200. Still worth it. Too many roots and rocks for me over the years.

Chris Knopf's often repeated phrase: "creating equity in the Boundary Waters" (after 1:26 minutes) is so ambiguous and vague that it fails to communicate a meaningful message. Does this phrase have a coded meaning perhaps? Is it a dog whistle expression or idiom being used to signal a show support from one group without alerting the opposition ?
