@ipmala Ya both he and Tiger were just relentlessly determined..its amazing how they made it look so easy during their primes..It seemed like Jack was gonna win every major he played in and it seemed like Tiger was never gonna stop domimating..14-0 with a 54 hole lead in majors (until the 2009 PGA) is the definition of clutch..especially in golf where there is no one to help you..Thats why I view Tiger as the clutchest athlete of all time..Sorry Jordan

Hard to imagine how close he is / was to the career grand slam at such an early age and now struggling.
He’s the only one that gave me tiger feels while watching him.... he was just so clutch when he needed to be back then.

thanks for the video! i just went back and watched 2015 masters and 2016 masters. so incredible to watch! his swing was so natural and relaxed in 2015; you could see wobbles early in the final round of 2016 before disaster on 12. i don't think he's ever fully recovered from that. i agree w/ many of the comments that his putting used to bail out his poor ball striking; no way he could keep making 20+ footers forever. i think he needs a new coach and maybe a switch @ caddie; he seems overly dependent on his caddie, whom i like but jordan needs to stand on his own and figure this out.
When you hear it all at once, you realize how insane his 2015-2017 was. In 69 events, 10 wins, 3 majors, 35 top tens.
Tiger had by far way more in the season in 1999 to 2001

Exactly dude...but think about it...when you have a run like that and your expectstion is to keep it going, that basically means your bar of success is to be "the best golfer ever" on par with woods and nicklaus...im sorry if that is the bar thats set, unless you are one of maybe 10 people in the world that check all the boxes to do that in ANY sport, ur going to be disappointed...guys like that, well, they don't really exist most of the time...thats why guys like Michael jordan, tiger woods, Jack nicklaus, michael Phelps, Lance Armstrong, cael Sanderson, Dan gable, etc...guys that when you watch them, it actually defies what you thought was even possible in a given sport...in fact its so so rare that many sports haven't yet even seen someone like that...he came out thought and then regressed to his average, which is #80ish in the world...but now the bar is set so high that this young talented kid had to endure constant media reports of how washed up he is...please...hes not washed, hes very very good...hes just not the greatest golfer ever, even tho he played like it for a couple years...hes a very elite golfer, capable of winning majors, but won't win them all the time and will have huge gaps between them...and will have long periods of highs and lows... but there are only 79 people in the world better than him, id say hes definitely elite, but he's just not the best in the world...big deal, stop saying hes washed, when ur "low" is dropping to #80 on earth, id say ur still doing fine
I really think that his early success and all the expectations have fucked with head, the talent doesn't disappear...again tho, thats why the goats are so special, they never had a problem with pressure or expectation or disappointment in the eyes of the public...they love it, it gives them a chance to show them up, and they just relish in it like they "know" they're the best, and whatever they do, even they themselves isn't good enough so they just keep going...im seriously convinced at any given time on earth there are less than 10 people that even exist like that

I agree with others that his pursuit of more distance but I can pinpoint the event. His downfall started after his playoff loss to Dustin Johnson at the 2017 Northern Trust. Dustin hit a huge drive over the lake leaving himself a short wedge to the green while Jordon was left with a mid to long iron. Shortly after that loss, it appeared to me that Jordon started to make swing changes to pursue more distance. Hope he gets back to his natural swing and starts winning again.

I'm only a casual fan of golf but i really can't believe it was 5 years ago that he had his patch of incredible form.... i know time goes by faster and faster the more you age but that really blows my mind.

See that's the thing about golf. A lot of talented golfers don't even make it to the tour until their late 20's. Jordan is 27 and has already risen to the top, struggled through a 3+ year slump, had people make "what happened to" documentaries about them, and then risen back to the top. In just this year he has gone from 80th in the world back up to 23rd, won a tournament and banked nearly 5 million dollars in tournament earnings (not counting endorsements) in the 20-21 season.

That's what I don't get, why go from the top of the world stage to changing your swing, makes no sense. Does anyone really think they're capable of all holes in one on par 3's, all double eagles on par 4's, and all albatrosses on par 5's.
@@imnotabotrlyimnot he was forced to change his swing. It came out earlier this year that he had a hand/finger issue that caused so much pain that he had to loosen grip up and change it so he could play.
Tiger changed his swing to preserve himself. The one thing these players need to do is keep their lives uncomplicated, especially when your life started simple. Tiger's life got chaotic and his game stunk.

If you told him in 2017 while he was holding the claret jug that it would be his last win for 3 and a half years he’d have got you taken away in a straight jacket. Let’s hope he can’t clutch up a win tomorrow, once he gets one title he’ll take off again. He’s won the lot was so close to doing the grand slam in 2015 absolutely insane in this era!!!
Nice vid. Many comments about his disaster on#12 at the Masters. Tiger made a ‘10’ there @ this month’s Masters. Golf is hard. Spieth will rebound. Butch is a great suggestion.
Only one who knows is Jordan. We all saw Tiger struggle at times throughout his career with swing changes so it could just be that. I can only imagine at that level the trust needed in yourself in what you’re doing so when you change something you’ve done all your life, it’s natural for it to take a while to ingrain it into the old golf noggin. From what i see, he’s working so hard on fixing one thing that the rest of his game, particularly his chipping and putting, have also suffered as a result. I hope he figures it out as it was a joy watching another potential great career blossom. Reality is, golf is freaking hard even for the best of them and staying at the highest level for long periods of time is extremely difficult.

Same thing that happens to every young golf superstar...they play constantly all through High School and College... then win on tour and become independent millionaires in their early 20's.... what do ya think is happening there, lol
putter went cold, plain and simple..you cannot putt at 20% from 20' when average is 11%, you will come back to the average, and now he has...fun while it lasted? yeah, look at all the should have beens who can't putt and are history...Michelle Wi is biggest example
Jordan is great around the greens. He will be back as soon as he figures out tee to green. Tee to green can be taught, but a magical feel around the greens is a talent few people have.

He started trying to "fix" his unorthodox swing, because it wasn't pretty enough.
He chased distance and forgot that his putter won him all his championships.
I have this theory that the universe gives out gifts of super magical abilities in all areas of life. Sport, art, music etc. In order to get those gifts one has to have certain criteria. First they have to be born with the right DNA. Second, the right parents and environmental conditions. Third, the will to win, and finally, the right intentions. If one of these is not there then one can still achieve much, but greatness will elude them. Golf is the best example of how these magical gifts work because golf is so difficult that; when the player has this gift, it shines out so brightly and so clearly. The modern game has evolved to the point in which we know so much about the mechanics of the swing that anyone with talent can learn to play well if they work hard at it. There is also so much money in the sport that even the lower end players can earn a decent living. But for those who are the cream at the top, the only thing dividing them is two things; the will and the intention. If either of those things are wrong then the universe will take the magic away and hand it to another. If one believes that the universe is a moral universe then one's intentions has to fit morally. For example, if in your heart you want to win for the family, or because you simply love the game, or because you appreciate the fans, and so on, then the universe sees that you are not only wining for your own ego and glory. And so, the moment your ego creeps into your intention; in other words, you start to believe the hype that you are a God, then the universe will take away the gift. If your drive to win is only money, then that too is not strong enough a motivation, for as soon as you become a multi millionaire; then what? I am not saying this is what has happened to Spieth or others as I do not know, all I am saying is, I believe there is a reason that players lose the magic. It happened to all the greats. It's as though it just vanishes. Perhaps there is also limited time each can hold the gift. As I said, it's just a theory. Either way, golf is a unique example of this dynamic of "greatness."

I have heard people say that he does not work hard on his game. He does not practice a lot is what some say. Not sure of the validity of that but seems to make sense.

He's become preoccupied with swing mechanics - the mind killer. Thinking about the swing engages the left brain, whereas golf is a sport and a right brain activity. He needs to take a decent break. Find Jordan again. The dudes unstoppable when he's on. He's absolutely incredible. Good little doco, big ups.
He got married and has a life now. From the day he was born all he has known is golf. Hes won a bunch of tournaments including majors. He took a breath, and if he wants to win again then he will.

Not exactly. He just recently said in an interview that hes practicing more than ever. Wants to reclaim number 1 ranking. Still wants 10 more majors. He just doesnt have it. Hes trying but it's gone. Yani tseng, lydia ko, ian Baker finch, bobby clampett, luke donald, and the list goes on. Top of the sport for a long time and then bam. Lights go out

Would’ve rather learned a little about “why” he’s struggling, rather than having his results read to me off the PGA website. Jordan himself, has publicly stated that he was distracted off the course getting married, he made some bad changes with his swing which led to working with Butch Harman, and then his putter started struggling. In a press conference, he told the world he thinks he rode a 5 year hot streak with the putter, and finally he reverted to the mean. Now he’s lost his confidence on the greens as well, which is never a good place for a touring pro.
It all came from his swing though, I did state the changes he made in an interview, there’s lots more I could of said your right but I wanted a short Doc more info the longer the video sorry, he’s putting game had so much pressure on it because his long game was poor

I liked the video, but it wasn't what I was looking for. It's mostly a, accomplishments and what made Jordan great rather than the title.
Don't go chasing the perfect swing guys! We have seen it ruin so many. Imagine if Tiger didn't constantly tinker with his swing? He may have 25 majors right now. Spieth tried to get a little longer, a little more technical and it has cost him big. I'm sure he will find his way back but he has to ingrain completely new feels and that is never something you want to do in your prime. There is something to be said about playing with feel and athleticism, instead of trying to be perfect technically.
What happened to him is the same thing that happens to many great players...he stopped playing golf and started thinking about his swing. It's not about making a swing but creating and making shots to get the ball in the hole.
When he was at his best he putted at a historic level, it was impossible to sustain his rate of success especially for someone who doesn’t bomb the ball
right, although he had the most uncanny ability to hit the green from off the fairway of any player in recent memory. That combined with the putting vaulted him to heights that were Tiger like.
His power was in his hair, which is now gone.

Jordan reminds me of Johnny Miller in the early 70s .He won a lot of tournaments like he was in a zone.
So, he breaks all manner of records and decides on "swing changes"? This choice has seemed to that of many in many fields (ruined voices in opera for instance). I wonder as well how "interesting" 10 hour practice days can be for anyone once "newly married". One might hope commitments had shifted a bit....especially when there's no need for a few more millions.

Harrington done it too after winning 3 majors in 18 months. He faded off into just another player after doing that. It beggars belief why they do it when at their peak.

Because of that Masters blow up and because he doesn't have that same caddy. I called it just watching how close they were and how much they talked and joked. It was the magical combination and it won't come back.
Bad swing changes. Needs a new coach with some new ideas. He's a phenomenal player but he has an awful double miss off the tee. Even gives Phil a run for his money in that department. Hope he gets back to his best

You can tell he's in his head on his tee shots. He stands over the ball fidgeting for 20 seconds before he hits it most of the time. He needs a more repeatable setup.
Its pretty simple what happened to him. Married 2018, first winless season 2018.
Hey God gives you good times and times that are going to test you. You got to meditate and relax step back and go.
Couple of thoughts. He made a ton of long putts and hole outs enroute to wins. That doesn’t last forever. Secondly, he was always a little wild off the tee and in his effort to change his swing to increase distance, it seemed to hurt him at key times. Third, while success breeds more success, so does failure. And finally, getting married. It’s got to be difficult to balance that. He always seemed like a guy who played a lot and got into a groove. Appears to have pared back that schedule and maybe that has affected his game.
Ever since the Phoenix open in 2021 has been playing well. Hopefully he can do good in the next few majors as he has been playing good recently minus the pga championship this past week.
I wanted him to be the next best player of our era and he still has the chance to do that in the next 10-15 years but it's going to take a LOT of work to get there. Seems he's on the track to success following his most recent win. Only time will tell.

30 under wow never knew that was possible. He may be in a slump now, but with #1 ranking under his belt he will come out of it and still be able to make another 50 million in half the time. Come on Jordan always loved to watch your game bring it.
He left his game at the 12th at Augusta and has spent way too much time obsessing over his swing with coaches who’ve never won anything. I see he’s putting cross grip - that right there shows he’s a mental case
He needs a new putter I feel like. Lots of players are ex-ing the blades and moving to more forgiving putters

It's much more common for golfers to go on a 1-3 year run then never recapture that run of form ever again. Players who can sustain excellence for a decade or more are few and far between.
So what happened to Jordan Spieth is the same thing that happened to the vast majority of golfers who were at the top of the game.
I think everyone is expecting the next dominant player like Tiger Woods or Jack Nicklaus. People were eager to say Rory would be that guy after a great year. Then it was Spieth and DJ. Truth is, it maybe a long time before we see another Tiger type player. It’s not Dechambeau and it’s not Rahm which isn’t a bad thing for golf. It’s more competitive out there now.
But, but, but - he was the next Tiger!!
So they said..of course he was bc golf is desperate to find the next Tiger..what they fail to realize is that there will NEVER be another Tiger..he was a once in a lifetime player

Holy Crap.. 10:30 Honestly sounds IDENTICAL to my swing. Crap this is better than a lesson. I'm stiff with my right arm and set up open and have to tume the ball. When I'm on I'm on and when I'm off I am a cooked Goose all day. I have to go to the range now.
