- Style Speaks 3 Hats You Should Know About For The Spring And Summer
I’m not going to lie while I enjoy the winter and it’s opportunity to layer looks and play with fabrics. I’m over the winter and ready for the warmth of spring and summer. And with the spring and summer come summer hats. When it comes to summer hat styles we could jump down a rabbit hole with the types but we won’t today.
Today we’re going to talk about the three main hat styles you should know about to keep you protected from the sun while maintaining your cool, what they say about your style and when you should wear them. The Three hats styles are the panama, the straw fedora, and the boater. And there are two other caps you should know about.
The Panama Hat- The Panama hat is actually made in Ecuador and they woven from the fibers of the paja toquila (pa-ha toe kee ha) palm tree leaves. The way they are woven keeps the head cool and is often a whitish or egg shell color. Because of the color and the lightness its often associated with more casual wear, like something you would take on your vacation or when you’re spending time around the the pool or hanging out at a bar b que. But don’t get it twisted these crowns still express a level of sophistication when you are wearing it.
Straw Fedora while a fedora can be made with felt they can also be made of straw as well with the different weights and thickness of straw speaking to it’s casualness or formality but its the most versatile style of the group. You a can easily wear it to the office or wear it to happy hour or a casual engagement after. To get the most versatility out of one, buy a tan or brown one.
The straw boater, basher, skimmer, cady, katie, canotier, somer, sennit hat, or in Japan, can-can hat) is a kind of summer hat worn by men, regarded as somewhat formal, even though most men aren’t wearing evening suits and dinner jackets they still give the appearance of relaxed elegance.
Over the next few days we’ll explore these more in the depth but for those of you who aren’t interested in these styles you do have the options of flat caps and baseball caps just that can be used in casual situations but I’m not a fan of wearing baseball hats with suits it’s just not a look that I prefer, however with society becoming more casual it is an option.
Love the vid I need them straw hats bro!!! the boater is my fav!!!
The boater is pimpin
Good afternoon Brother, just subscribed, great content 👍
Nice video and well presented. What brand of hat are you rockin' here?
You need to move the camara back to get a full view of the hat.
I'll work on that fam.
Thanks for the info , Michael.
The straw fedora seems the most versatile so I would go that route. I definitely dig it. How do you know how tall the crown should be?
I did some research on this, and found a youtube channel called The Gentleman's Gazette. They have a video based on information from vintage hat magazines which used to educate men on how to find the correct brim size and crown height, based solely on the shape of one's face. Type 'How To Find The Right Hat' in the search bar, and you'll see the video with a light green background on the thumbnail. I hope this helps. It's another great channel, all about classic menswear that will stand the test of time.
You have style !!
Thank you fam. I look forward to your contributions with future videos
Greetings! Where can I order the hat that you are wearing?
Thanks in Advance!
This is actually a custom piece you can get at BM Franklin Co
What do match your hat color with? Or do you let it complement your ensemble?
Ryan Terry apologies for the delay Ryan. It actually depends on the day sometimes it with shoes or jacket. But sometimes it’s a compliment to the ensemble.
I like a Guatemalan palm straw with a 3” brim. You my friend are suave.
Thank you for the love and compliment.
The main hat that you're wearing, where can I find that hat? That bad boy is fly. #TiltGame
Ron From Columbus this is Stetson I believe thank you for the love
I’m looking for a hat for my husband and I think he’ll look nice in the straw Fadora or the Panama hat. He’s a medium size man about 5’7.
My Apologies for the delay Diane. What did you end up going with?
@@StyleArchitexts he chose a straw Fadora size small from the Village hat shop we found online. He has a really small head, and we really need a hat shop here in West Palm Beach, Florida. Thank you for responding back to me.
Hey Diane
I'm 5'5 and I am the absolute minimum height to pull off those Bruno Capelo Cali Collection as well as the Bruno Capelo Tarik Collections. Here is the Disclaimer: we short guys 5'5 to 5'8 CANNOT AND I MEAN, WE can not go over 2 1/2 inches on the brim/rim or else we look the damn fool.
Fortunately Bruno Capelo had to be aware of this and the two Collections mentioned above get me constant compliments on the fit. Although I would rather a Large ( 3+ inch brims) I must stay with the Medium head size (2.5inch).
I have collected 15 Summer Cali styles this year and 7 Winter Wool Monarch Collections and the new Summer Boater Skimmer Collections: in 3 colors: all white, all red and the sharp faded white top to red on red brim- d'amn!....
