- yes we can hear everything you say while you're sitting in your car in front of the speaker

- we stopped making sweet tea at 9 and we run out of it by 11 do not come in at 11:45 and order a God damn sweet tea

I work in a drive thru, and WORSE than the credit card scene has happened to me before:
My drive-thru is one of those that has the charity box outside the window that you can just drop your change into. I went to grab this guy's card. . . and knocked it out of his hand and INTO THE CHARITY BOX. And it wasn't just sitting just inside the mouth of it either, it went ALL THE WAY IN. All the way down to the bottom of this thing. We both panic. I call for a manager. The manager comes and tries to get it out with a spatula. It doesn't work. We end up asking the guy to pull off to the side so we can take down his information, and my manager tells him we'll give him a call when we can get it out. I got the rest of the story from one of my co-workers the next day that after I went home, my store manager managed to pry open the little door to the charity box on our side of the wall with (? some kind of tool, I can't remember what).
The next time that guy came through, we both exchanged this look, like, Ok, we're going to do this now, and he very deliberately, very firmly, handed his card to me, and waited until I had a firm grip on it before he let go. We had a good laugh there. :p
As a former drive thru employee, paying it forward is honestly the most annoying thing to deal with.

Make sure they can't trace it back to real life, now proceed to tell us all the secrets
I mean, personally i work in a drive thru too but I don't find it annoying. You just recall the next order after they're done paying for theirs
I've never thought it was? You just need the manager to approve using the same card twice. At least at McDonalds
So I worked at a Starbucks and when you’re working window, you just kind of get in the habit of bumping orders after people drive off and that meant having to look up their order on the pos. The pos screen, when clicking on a completed order was much smaller than the display on the bumper so for the larger orders you’d have to scroll through a tiny screen to verify you had their whole order in front of you. Which honestly doesn’t sound that bad, but our district pushed 40 second window times very strictly. So that, on top of the extra dialogue of “Hey so the person in front paid for your order yada yada” and then the customer questioning how much the next order was, then debating whether it was too much and then finding more cash if it was more than theirs... it’s just a lot of small things that add up to getting yelled at by management for taking too long. Also, some people would get real upset with us because they felt “obligated” to keep it going for some reason and would complain to management constantly for us making them feel bad or w/e. So maybe it’s just a unique situation for my annoyance, but it was still there non the less.
