- It's been almost 5 months since I first headed out with the new Yakima Skyrise medium rooftop tent, so I thought I'd do a update video review of it.
My original review can be found here:

Thanks for doing a follow-up review. This has been very helpful!
Thanks for the updated review. I've been considering purchasing one of these but now I think I'll make something myself.
Thx for the review. I purchase my Skyrise Medium this spring. The only issue I had out of the box was a ladder bracket that didn't have a hole. I drilled a hole and solved the problem. Still a quality product that fits my needs well. We haven't had any leaks or reliability issues. We'll see how it holds up next season.
I purchased this Yakima Skyrise 2 on Japanese Amazon after I watched your video. I am happy to get RTT. I was little worry about rain drop leaks, but it's ok! I don't use this tent in rainy days.
so I don't afraid rain leaks!
Great review! You really did a good job testing everything out and finding solutions. I really like their easy install/removal design but I doesn’t seem like the tent itself is really up to par.
Looking forward to getting my tent tomorrow
Thanks for the advice on using a floor mat under the ladder. Use garbage bags on the foam mattress to get it back in the cover. Slit them up one side, fold two of them over the top edge of the foam. You should be able to slide the cover over the bags easier. After you get the cover on reach inside and pull the garbage bags out. This has always worked for me.
Excellent video. Love the detail. Thank you
Thank you for the review... I purchased the same tent from REI this summer 2018, however I was able to find a green one in color. So far so good! No leaks
Darren Votaw probably is the new model
I really like Yakima RTT but after watching two of your reviews with all them leaks and problems I think I’m gonna go with something with more quality thank you for the good reviews
I got the leaks fixed.

Great review. I watched a set up video of this tent and saw how the rain fly went on and immediately thought that it was going to leak at the corners. Seems so obvious. How did the Yakima engineers miss that? But then again they are a rack company. Not a tent company. Still a decent tent. I bought one. :)
Thanks for the follow up.
But I think I’ll spend a little more going in for a better quality tent.
You’re welcome to let the tent Mfg know.
Again thanks for the follow up review.
I'm aware Yakima has upgraded the tent., and has several versions of it now But I cannot speak towards the quality of those.
I spray mine with the waterproof stuff every spring. I've had mine now for 4 years.. Still live it. The mattress sucks though. I added more padding
Awesome video! Thanks for a good review. So do you know if you have the small or medium size?
Medium.
thank you for your positive/neutral tone in your review.
But a rip in the tent body, a 2 month turn around for customer who purchased a 1500 dollar item and leaking is unacceptable. While i love the looks of this I am moving on to other options.
Thank you for a real and objective review
Handsewn D ring hardware with a caribener on the other end and replace the Velcro.
Selling inside and out is a good idea.
I still don’t know how you got the mattress cover back on! I washed mine and tried to get it back on but it ended up tearing the mattress.
It is a pain! It took a lot of work to wrestle it back in there. A zipper across three ends of the cover would be a godsend.
Back Pack Hack Yes! Exactly!
By the way...where did you get the replacement tension poles for the rainfly?
Anybody who doesn't know to open the tent at home and seal the rain fly is missing it.. No fabric fly is going to be leak free. Pop it out and hose it down real good find the leaks and get plenty of seam seal in tubes at Walmart. Required tent fly experience.
The mat, turn it inside out and then roll it up the foam rather than try to cram it in there
I really like this design, but it could use some tweaks. IMO the frame should be fully on the exterior of the inner fly like an exo skeleton with the exterior fly taught over the top of the frame. The whole thing needs to be seam sealed and it should pitch without those silly rods to hold the fly.
I have a new tent with racks I will sell at a good price
Make worse than probable conditions with your hose at home
Awww man ya should finish testing it in the rain, its 5 months not 5 weeks
I did.

@@BackPackHack thank you!!!!!!
You shouldn’t have to put up with leaks on a new tent, then again this is their new foray, meaning Yakima is known for roof racks and accessories not making tents
If good seam seal fails to weathertight properly then there’s something inherently wrong with the design
The Yakima is the worst RTT on the market. Look elsewhere.
Total shit tent from Yakima. You'd think that a Washington company would know how to make a rain proof tent?
