I enjoy your repair videos, thank you. I have been watching for about a year. I have noticed an area that I might be able to offer a little of my years of wisdom. When I served in the Navy as an electrician, I had to repair very dirty circuit boards. I experimented with using steam to clean these circuit boards. Steam cleaning was fast and very effective in removing years of crud from the boards. I had hundreds to do, I needed fast and effective. I found a few twenty turn potentiometers that did not like the moisture. A hair dryer fixed those quickly. When I watch you try to repair a key fob with liquid corrosive damage, I would use an ultrasonic cleaner. I do not think it would cause damage and surely would stop further damage to the board. I am sixty-six years old, and I was in the Navy forty years ago.
I love watching your repairs videos. Ive been repairing electrics for over 25 years mostly car audio. I just started repairing games consoles thank to the teacher.
I have a switch with a good battery and good charge port, no water damage or any singe/burn marks around any of the capacitors or other chips(haven't had the time to keep testing it)and yet still no power/black screen but hell I'm almost betting it's going to be that chip now that i watched this. Thank you for the quality diag, and showing how you diag and repair.
@Northridgefix whenever you get a switch not powering on, always check the serial number online to see if it is unpatched or possibly patched. If it is either of those plug it into a pc and check if it is going into RCM Mode. I've had this happen at least 6 times where customers have enabled this feature and didn't realize it. Obviously in this video it was not the case
I was expecting you to say "Higher chance of survival" I enjoy the videos. I have a switch lite board that I ruined. It was working but not charging. Alex makes this look so easy so I thought I could fix it. I moved too many parts on it and then found a spot where it looked like someone else was altering something under one of the covers. It is not as easy as Alex makes it look. I did enjoy trying and have added the board to my parts/practice department.
“The Switch wanna play games? We can play games too.” Pure poetry. 😂 Your quotes are epic. Get them on t-shirts and merchandise, and get some well deserved additional exposure and some new revenue streams 👍💪
@Gary Rendano The quote you're referring to is the 2nd movie quote he said at the end. The quote I'm referencing was the quote he said in the beginning about playing games.
I said to myself, I don't own a Nintendo Switch and have no interest in repairing them, why watch this. I decided to anyways, since it was only 8 minutes. Perfect. Super glad I watched it lol.
You fix them like I do. I hate wasting time on a board as time is money. I usually suspect that chip as well if capacitors are not shorted and everything test good. That chip just likes to fail, besides the video chip which also likes to fails.
@@NorthridgeFix However you missed a great opportunity to end the video with "nothing personal, just business, who's next?", hahaha. You are great, we love you, keep it up, a real example for all of us in all, not just electronics!
I also noticed that on my meter with the same as yours when I plug the phone the backlight turns off and when I disconnect the phone to the meter the backlight of the meter lit up. Im pretty sure that it has to do with shorted charging area.
Can someone explain what exactly he did to deduce it was that particular spot? It just seemed like a random guess that those parts tend to be the ones to malfunction when everything appears right
I have back massagers that won't turn on. It's brand new but sitting in the box for a long time. Can I send a couple to you to see if you can fix them and post a video of what the problem was? You can keep them after they are repaired and I can mail it to you for free if you live in USA. Please let me know.
I'm attempting a "no power Switch" that also won't charge. At 1:50, that component reads 5 volts in and 1 volt out. You measured 12 volts in and out, so what could be the issue on mine? Thanks in advance!
Hello congratulations you are good , I have a switch with error equal to your video I replaced the connector type c and IC charging m92 now the error screen and go away the console works but instead of charging the battery is discharged despite on the display indicates the lightning charge, in your opinion what could it be?
Hello. I have question is there any fuse or what chip on the switch main PCB is responsible for the right joy-con? Couple days ago my brother use RCM to check my switch and from that time my right joy-con is not working, it's not problem with broken rail or connector, i replace them both and check them in other switch (works) i found the point just under the right joy-con ribbon connector that is equivalent of RCM pin 10, i try to ground it and check if the hardware button work to turn console it in rcm mode but even from this point it's don't do nothing. I check the joy-con i the different console and it's work.
Hi, awesome channel!! I have one question, my nintendo switch won't boot into system, the only things i see is a black screen, so i decide to install a mod chip to rebuild the emmc, but the custom firmware do the same thing On your experience its probably an hardware isse after bootup on emmc? The Switch turn on and i can see hekate, but when i try to launch the SO i cant see nothing Thanks
have one with the same problem, there is no short in the M92 chip but its not taking voltage. So im replacing it and see if it works. Thanks for the video.
Cool. It's probably my only option at this point. No shorts. Tried a new battery, and USB looks pretty good I think. Almost a week of diagnosing, then I found this video.
Working on the same devices before. We can build a pattern. Going straight to the point and don't waste time. We dont play games. Tony montana scarface. Haha. Thanks again sir for the words of wisdom.
I have a motherboard with the same symptoms. Nothing short-circuited. All perfect. I have changed the chip that you mention with the hope that it was that and surprise. Still the same 😮💨😐 what can it be? video chip? What is your opinion?
Help. Switch turns off and stays off. I unplug battery, plug it back in and it turns on. Try plugging it into dock but dock is blinking fast. Don't know what's wrong.
Always a pleasure to see how happy u get when something is working immediatly after fixing.

Your no bullshit attitude is incredibly refreshing.

I’m having a similar issue on my son’s switch. Were you able to fix yours?

Nice job, thats really all about your experience. Sometimes its just faster to change the charging-ic than measuring around. Great 👍
excellent work as always. look so easy yet so hard. not easy to troubleshoot board without symtoms.
اتعلم منك الكثييييير وصدقني لك الفضل بعد الله اني حبيت هالمجال
شكرا لك
The most powerful soldering iron in the whole world, it can blow those chips right off, the question is do you feel lucky, well do you PUNK???
Your videos are therapy at the end of a day!
😂😂say hello to my soldering iron , scarface fix should be your new company name😂
Love all of your vid's and all the work you do but one thing why do you press down on the chip if all the legs and pins are soldered into place !?
“The Switch wanna play games? We can play games too.”
Pure poetry. 😂
Your quotes are epic. Get them on t-shirts and merchandise, and get some well deserved additional exposure and some new revenue streams 👍💪
The issue is "The Switch doesn't wanna play games? If it did play games it won't need to be repaired?
Lol, I started laughing when you said that Scarface quote, ha ha.
@Gary Rendano The quote you're referring to is the 2nd movie quote he said at the end. The quote I'm referencing was the quote he said in the beginning about playing games.
That quote actual belongs to Clint Eastwood "Do you feel luky punk ? "
Remake of the movie Casino with the man from Northridge Fix. Yeah baby!
Great vid Alex. You say like from factory but you clean the flux off so....better than factory, lol
You're the man Alex!! Thank you for all the great info you give us
I said to myself, I don't own a Nintendo Switch and have no interest in repairing them, why watch this. I decided to anyways, since it was only 8 minutes. Perfect. Super glad I watched it lol.
Awesome work Alex. I just sent a email for a ticket on my Nin Switch
Ta raaa!! it's working. excellent job like always! Hi from Uruguay

Thank you , we have your great expiriance with your share.
:) hahaha, I love your threatening attitude toward the stubborn PCB. Hahahaha!!
Motherboards have to fear you, otherwise you won't make it in this business.

I am so curious about fixing electrinix and i would like to learn it . Where can i start to understand the basics guys ? Thank you
Great work. Always enjoy watching your videos, informative.
Watching you is like watching Leonardo Da Vinci paint
This Nintendo switch wants to play games, we could play games too! That switch life was in stake with them words, lol.🤣🤣🤣
Can someone explain what exactly he did to deduce it was that particular spot?
It just seemed like a random guess that those parts tend to be the ones to malfunction when everything appears right
Glad to know I'm not the only one that quotes scarface when I fix devices
3:57, "this Switch wanna play games? We can play games too!"

Same with my switch. No shorts at all and dont know where to start. Ill order a max chip and see if i can fix my switch

You are my inspiration love u from India
You give me so much reason to keep trying, but how can i talk to you one on one
Where are you located? I have a 2011 Macbook Pro that is in need of repair.
What setting is your multimeter on when you test the capacitors at 1:38?
What temperature do you use the soldering iron and the air soldering iron?
Wow! Another amazing repair.
What size of bent conical tip are you using on this video?
Very cool I have that issue doesn't charge or turn on
What are you using to test the capacitors at 1:38 Is it just a multi meter?
Please fix one switch with bluescreen you makes nice videos 👍
have one with the same problem, there is no short in the M92 chip but its not taking voltage. So im replacing it and see if it works. Thanks for the video.
Did it work?
Yep. It does. The problem was the M92 chip. Just Replace it and thats all
Cool. It's probably my only option at this point. No shorts. Tried a new battery, and USB looks pretty good I think. Almost a week of diagnosing, then I found this video.
Is that chip program for the switch or it's just a standard non program chip?
can you link the model of FLIR camera you use?
What was the cost, minus the shipping?
The worst kind of problem - one you cannot measure, but only know it's there from experience.
you know its getting serious when you are quoting scarface to a board XD
I have a Nintendo Switch that requires Charging IC replacement. How can I identify fake chips?
how do you know when a chip is original and not fake?
So how much would this repair cost for no power?
Thank you for the videos. What percentage of devices are no fix in your shop?
Is the desolder of the chip in real time ?
You are an inspiration to us.
Working on the same devices before. We can build a pattern. Going straight to the point and don't waste time. We dont play games. Tony montana scarface. Haha. Thanks again sir for the words of wisdom.
Which chip was that? The charging IC?
Good video,
Can your store ship merchandise to Mexico?
What does that gun do at 3:50?
great job sir 👍
Where do You Buy the IC s?
M92T36's new perk unlocked: _Pretend to be Working._
Hussein be like : You need people like me 🤣, very good video like always thank you
How much does this repair cost? If you could speak to that more thay would be great.
Im hear to know the answer
Man, when you've checked charging, you had throwed the usb cable like if it is your enemy😂
Where can i find this IC ship?
I have a motherboard with the same symptoms. Nothing short-circuited. All perfect. I have changed the chip that you mention with the hope that it was that and surprise. Still the same 😮💨😐 what can it be? video chip? What is your opinion?

Forgot to mention first started happening after software update 😮
