Proper cooling in laptops is also a factor in performance. A graphics card won't be able to touch its TGP limit if it is not properly cooled.

Although the TDP is a deciding factor for fps, its only upto a certain point. After reaching the maximum tdp for a laptop 3050, lets say 100W, the difference between 100W and 300W will make virtually no difference
U r right . 70w is adequate above that is diminishing returns with more heat. But 40w is too low.

It also depends on the optimisation. A better optimised laptop with lower tgp can actually perform on par with higher tgp variants.
But optimization of what because you will be running stock windows on the laptop and not custom ui/ux like android phones...

More tgp isn't equal to more power always. Up intil a certain point, it's true but beyond which it'll only be diminishing in returns. That point in particular varies between gpus.
High end Gpu and cpu are tuned down with less power for cooling. Bc laptops don't have those huge heatsink so tuning down would consume less power and hence less heat produced.
More than anything, I always would recommend everyone to research thermal design of the laptop before buying it. No matter how amazeballs the hardware is, if your laptop doesn't have a good thermal design it will give you the biggest regret and disappointment when you see your laptop thermal throttling, hence resulting in constant fps drops, stutters and horrible experience ever.

@@random-llI bought a gaming laptop back 3 years ago and it became a life lesson to never buy a laptop for gaming. It's not comfortable to pay, Zero Upgrade capabilities in just 2 years many new games were unplayable as they needed more speed and Vram. I had to sell it off for a cheaper price and now I have a Mid range PC which outperforms my old gaming laptop which was around 90K when I bought it.
Only play esports game on a laptop. It's not worth to play triple A games.

Pro tip if you are buying anything after RTX 30 series 95w and 140w doesn't matter it then depend on thermal so you'll get 120w out of 95 and 95w out of 140w.
It doesn't even bring a lot of difference.....most laptops gpu dont pull that much power ...in most cases extra tgp means more heat.
Also more tgp cooks ur laptop

I kind of disagree on it there is a thing that asus does when you are on battery it runs on low tgp but when you plug it into the charger it goes to the.max performance mode in which the GPU performs as expected so if u find any cheap laptop with good specs and from a reputed company go for it at the end of the day it's you who will be using the laptop for hours

Main problem is not power. Main problem js heating 😂😂. Even 40 TGP is enough if it has good cooling ❤
Not always the case, 3060, 3070 at 90-140 Watts behave the same, only 80 and 90 ones benefits from higher tgp, as increase in temperature also diminishes the performance
Always plug in a charger while playing resource-intensive games, battery will have a much better life and the game will run smoother.
Unless space or travelling is a big concern I'll never buy a gaming laptop again. They accumulate dust, they overheat, they are less value for money performance wise and they lose their value fast. I don't know why Indian gaming market is so obsessed with phones and gaming laptops.
The thing is rtx 3050 is a trash card and extra tgp wont make much of a difference..for the price dif

Its same as TDP which means it draws more power but specially used for gpu's ...drawing more power doesnt actually convert to be more efficient and certainly not concludes to give more fps....it just means it takes more power .

Furthermore if are going to expensive gpu make sure it has muc switch or your gonna fcked up cuz a gaming laptop has two gpu (igpu and dgpu) and overall graphic power goes to display with the way of igpu and if your igpu(gpu settled in cpu already)is slow i mean if your processor is not a highly preformeing it gonna bottleneck your dgpu power through the igpu. So when you buy a higher power gpu make sure you have a mux switch which directly connects to display and max performance.

My dell g15 5515 has rtx 3050 with 95 W tgp but only draws 45 to 50W maximum. Also CPU reaches 101 degrees. Gave it to onsitego for repair but no luck

@@abderrahmenk Look gaming laptop under 1 Lakh is a myth. There is always going to be some drawbacks in them. If you want most bang for your buck go for a desktop build. If you are however looking for a laptop for office related work, choose laptops which do not have a dedicated graphics card in them.

Dude less power gpus aren’t that much slower. 105w 3070 is faster than 140w 3060 and produce less heat. Less heat equals to less heat in room, and no loss of performance to overheating and no need for cooling pad
