I'm a 54 y/o music-loving mom in the US & had never been exposed to any Korean music, until I heard BTS on a commercial. I was intrigued with their beautiful harmony & they looked so happy! It didn't take long to get hooked. Their music, their story, & their personalities have changed my life for the better. They give me hope for the younger generations, hope for change in accepting others as they are, hope for the world, & hope for humanity. I don't know if I've ever seen Pierre this excited as a little kid even before the start of the reaction hahah My heart feels so warm wacthing him loving the boys!!! One people realise they made this song during the worst time of the pandemic to try and cheer people up, so there is no deep meaning, just a fun vibe to get people smiling, you can appreciate how good it is for that purpose and really enjoy it. Since lots of western reactors tend to treat BTS as just another typical boy band after hearing only one song, I generally don't recommend an English song as the first BTS track for reactors. But knowing that you've seen a BTS guide video, I was sure you wouldn't hold such biases, and I joyfully watched your video. However, the true essence of their original music lies in their Korean songs. Next, I suggest listening to "On (Kinetic Manifesto Film)," "Mic Drop," and "Black Swan." You'll be surprised and feel a completely different vibe. Oh BTS only has 3 songs in English (dynamite, butter and permission to dance) I think they didn't even think about releasing songs at that time but due to the pandemic their tour was canceled and the world in general was on pause so they decided to release an english trilogy as a gift that could give us a little of hope and joy during that time, these are songs are all fun and easy to vibe. BTS's discography is very extensive and I find it very interesting to see their growth and different colors over the years, they can make any musical genre at this point (the fact that each member has their own style is a big contributor to this) maybe you could react to mic drop, run bts, outro: tear, ugh!, chyphers 1,2,3,4 (hip hop vibes) black swan, fake love, louder than bombs, house of cards (kinda dark vibes idk?) Jungkook's solo album is in English but he also has korean solos on BTS albums and singles that he has given us as gifts.

Hi Pierre, I am a 45 yo Indian mom and discovered BTS only very recently. While my younger sis at 40 has already lived them for the last decade. I am just so glad they finally came in my life too. I am a very spiritual and a prayer person ……. But BYS stands out to me for the sheer hardwork, positivity and their unwavering commitment to their fans. They have put their lives up for their fans. V was going through a difficult stage to fit his Patreon voice with the rest of his band's voices, but he exceeded all expectations and had the widest range. Unfortunately in Korea they do not appreciate Patreon very much but this thing did not prevent him from being creative, so I appreciate Taehyung very much for not giving up and his self-esteem He has operatic singing and he has a growle in rock And Roll he has a deep soulful voice and captivating high notes. Dynamite, Butter, and Permission To Dance were released during the pandemic so they purposely made them all in English as they wanted to comfort Army and the world during a very depressing period. But these 3 do not really represent their discography which is mostly in Korean-English as well as Japanese. I am excited to follow your journey as you deep-dive into their songs. Be prepared. Their songs are far different from the K-pop songs you may be used to. Their lyricism and wordplay runs deep, conveys their deepest emotions, has psycho-social references, and weaves a storyline through some of their earlier albums (the Bangtan Universe is another rabbit hole). But if you think they are always cerebral, I invite you to watch their variety show (Run BTS) episodes. You will find out that these highly intelligent boys are also some of the funniest and humble human beings on this planet. Yes, we all around 50 years old rememberede our Disco nights. So much fun. Butter and Dynamite are their most "Western" songs. I personally love them singing in Korean and their Japanese catalogue is also fantastic. Their vocals shine on their J>apanese songs. You can do a rap line song like "UGH" and a vocal line song like "House of cards" and the you can go anywhere. It is all great stuff. "Dope", "Mic Drop", "Idol", Not Today" are some of my favorite hits.

I cried when I heard Dynamite for the first time because the world was in such a difficult time and there was so much uncertainty, but having a song and an MV that took me away from that made me so happy that I cried. little did they know that this song would EXPLODE worldwide, it was the first #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, and their first grammy nomination. thsi song and this mv broke so many records.
If you like funky beats, check out "Ma City" -- one of my favorites because I love funk. They performed it live at their Busan concert in Oct 2022 and there are earlier live performances, too,

The song was written and composed by the Westerners, so naturally it doesn't sound like a typical K-pop. Their songs in Korean often challenge the notion of K-pop too but will probably sound more familiar to you (as someone who listens to K-pop). What is typical though is that often K-pop takes inspiration from the current trends in the West and make them in their own way, but in BTS' music you'll most often find that whatever type of music they're making, the inspiration is mostly taken from the roots of that genre, especially in the hip-hop tracks.
This one is "lightweight retro", just one of their many genres. This was the first song fully in English and intentionally Western style. Dig deep! If you like rap, try Mic Drop, or ON Kinetic Manifesto. Usually each member has a few bars or lines, and the rappers are included. Sometimes more rap, sometimes more vocals. Or one or the other. There are 230+ group songs and about 100 solos. All the voices are real, not adjust or autotuned, so you should find some live. This one is played on a Tiny Desk concert. All the other groups you're listening to owe their success in many ways to BTS, and BTS is the foundation. If you watched the guide you know a little bit. Please spend time with us, it's worth every minute.

Dynamite is a bop! I would say it's more on the mainstream side in comparison to most of their discography so I'm really looking forward to you reacting to more of their songs because it's so diverse genre wise and they have amazing lyrics (I know this song was to cheer people up so don't get me wrong there is just a lot of BTS songs with very deep, thought provoking, critical and poetic lyrics)
Not sure if someone suggested it, but if you want a sample of their songs check out 2021 BTS festa. They sing about a minute of their songs around 7 in total. You get to hear some of their raps, and it’s live so you get to see how they interact with each other and their vocals.. it’s really good. They have so much to offer. They have an amazing rap line, you can’t go wrong with Ugh, Ddaaeng, OUTRO:Tear, and the 4 Cyphers. The vocal line I’d recommend House of Cards, Zero O’Clock, and The Truth Untold. For the group, Fake Love, Film Out,Black Swan, Jump, Baepsae, and Blood, Sweet, and Tears are some of my favorites. BTS usually have deep meaningful lyrics. Yes they can do pop songs, but I find that reading their lyrics has made me really appreciate the thought that they put into their song and videos..
Oh Pierre, you're gone! BTS is a kpop legend. It's true that PSY showed the world what this type of music is, but BTS... I'm from po Polish u and believe me, when I saw a newspaper in a store in 2017 that said something about some Korean idols, I ignored it. It was my sisters who introduced me to kpop "for fun". Although BTS came first, I gave my heart to EXO. But as they say, "Once an ARMY, always an ARMY." When EXO slowed down for the army, I returned to BTS. 2019 and BOY WHIT LOV. And... I was hooked. And they think it's a myth that you can't be a loyal fan as both ARMY and EXO-L. I can cope perfectly well in this condition. 😂😂😂I think you should start over from the debut and "see" how BTS grew from strength to strength. You will have a full cross-section of their careers. Hi Pierre, good reaction :) Some answers to your questions - BTS discography is 99% in Korean (with some English sentences mixed in the lyrics here and there) which is a blessing, as I think as Koreans, they shine the most in their native language, and also the language itself allows for so much more layers, wordplays and meanings than the simplistic English (no offense intended towards the English language) For Dynamite I highly recommend you to watch NPR tiny desk home concert with BTS (look for a version with subtitles) as they sing live with a band, and an amazing guitarist. I was a baby ARMY when I saw the Tiny desk concert and it was when I realized, OK - no turning back from this point, I'm in this BTS world for live. Another very good video to watch is Boracity magazines Ranking Dynamite live performances. It will give you a very good example on the creativity and talent of BTS and Big Hit (their label company)

No they don't always sing in english. Is only like 2 or 3 tracks that were in full english. The other 200+ songs are in korean and totally different vibes and genres.

She sent me a link to the Dynamite video when it came out in 2020, and it was like lightening struck my head and my heart. I was an INSTANT fan after hearing this song one time. Hi Pierre, I am a 45 yo Indian mom and discovered BTS only very recently. While my younger sis at 40 has already lived them for the last decade. I am just so glad they finally came in my life too. I am a very spiritual and a prayer person ……. But BYS stands out to me for the sheer hardwork, positivity and their unwavering commitment to their fans. They have put their lives up for their fans. Isn’t it something like what a guru does. Nurtures his disciples and shows them the path. BTS is doing the same…. Albeit in a different millennial style❤

V was going through a difficult stage to fit his Patreon voice with the rest of his band's voices, but he exceeded all expectations and had the widest range. Unfortunately in Korea they do not appreciate Patreon very much but this thing did not prevent him from being creative, so I appreciate Taehyung very much for not giving up and his self-esteem He has operatic singing and he has a growle in rock And Roll he has a deep soulful voice and captivating high notes. The journey in discovering his voice is very enjoyable

Being a musician myself I tend to look at music differently and mostly enjoy it for what it is. Of course there are some things I don't like but I nevertheless try to be respectful and just state my opinion without hate. I am very excited for this BTS journey....
Dynamite, Butter, and Permission To Dance were released during the pandemic so they purposely made them all in English as they wanted to comfort Army and the world during a very depressing period. But these 3 do not really represent their discography which is mostly in Korean-English as well as Japanese. I am excited to follow your journey as you deep-dive into their songs. Be prepared. Their songs are far different from the K-pop songs you may be used to. Their lyricism and wordplay runs deep, conveys their deepest emotions, has psycho-social references, and weaves a storyline through some of their earlier albums (the Bangtan Universe is another rabbit hole). But if you think they are always cerebral, I invite you to watch their variety show (Run BTS) episodes. You will find out that these highly intelligent boys are also some of the funniest and humble human beings on this planet.
I can’t wait for you to discover the rap line’s songs, performed together or separately. Some examples: the Cyphers 1 to 4, Mic Drop, UGH! Outro: Tear, Ddaeng, Suga/Agust D’s trilogy (Daechwita, Haegeum, Amygdala), J-Hope (Arson, More), HUH?!

Yes, we all around 50 years old rememberede our Disco nights. So much fun. Butter and Dynamite are their most "Western" songs. I personally love them singing in Korean and their Japanese catalogue is also fantastic. Their vocals shine on their J>apanese songs. You can do a rap line song like "UGH" and a vocal line song like "House of cards" and the you can go anywhere. It is all great stuff. "Dope", "Mic Drop", "Idol", Not Today" are some of my favorite hits.

they only have 4 full songs in english, the first was in 2018. but dynamite was the pioneer of the trio of songs they released in english during the pandemic to cheer us up, and it really worked. I cried when I heard Dynamite for the first time because the world was in such a difficult time and there was so much uncertainty, but having a song and an MV that took me away from that made me so happy that I cried. little did they know that this song would EXPLODE worldwide, it was the first #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, and their first grammy nomination. thsi song and this mv broke so many records.

If you like funky beats, check out "Ma City" -- one of my favorites because I love funk. They performed it live at their Busan concert in Oct 2022 and there are earlier live performances, too,

They do intersperse English words in their Korean songs -- RM is a master at rhyming Korean and English, so impressive -- but their best songs, IMO, are the Korean ones. Please consider reacting to Spring Day (a ballad that ARMY call "the queen") -- it has been charting in the top 100 on Melon for seven solid years.

The song was written and composed by the Westerners, so naturally it doesn't sound like a typical K-pop. Their songs in Korean often challenge the notion of K-pop too but will probably sound more familiar to you (as someone who listens to K-pop). What is typical though is that often K-pop takes inspiration from the current trends in the West and make them in their own way, but in BTS' music you'll most often find that whatever type of music they're making, the inspiration is mostly taken from the roots of that genre, especially in the hip-hop tracks.

This one is "lightweight retro", just one of their many genres. This was the first song fully in English and intentionally Western style. Dig deep! If you like rap, try Mic Drop, or ON Kinetic Manifesto. Usually each member has a few bars or lines, and the rappers are included. Sometimes more rap, sometimes more vocals. Or one or the other. There are 230+ group songs and about 100 solos. All the voices are real, not adjust or autotuned, so you should find some live. This one is played on a Tiny Desk concert. All the other groups you're listening to owe their success in many ways to BTS, and BTS is the foundation. If you watched the guide you know a little bit. Please spend time with us, it's worth every minute.

Dynamite is a bop! I would say it's more on the mainstream side in comparison to most of their discography so I'm really looking forward to you reacting to more of their songs because it's so diverse genre wise and they have amazing lyrics (I know this song was to cheer people up so don't get me wrong there is just a lot of BTS songs with very deep, thought provoking, critical and poetic lyrics)

Not sure if someone suggested it, but if you want a sample of their songs check out 2021 BTS festa. They sing about a minute of their songs around 7 in total. You get to hear some of their raps, and it’s live so you get to see how they interact with each other and their vocals.. it’s really good. They have so much to offer. They have an amazing rap line, you can’t go wrong with Ugh, Ddaaeng, OUTRO:Tear, and the 4 Cyphers. The vocal line I’d recommend House of Cards, Zero O’Clock, and The Truth Untold. For the group, Fake Love, Film Out,Black Swan, Jump, Baepsae, and Blood, Sweet, and Tears are some of my favorites. BTS usually have deep meaningful lyrics. Yes they can do pop songs, but I find that reading their lyrics has made me really appreciate the thought that they put into their song and videos..

Oh Pierre, you're gone! BTS is a kpop legend. It's true that PSY showed the world what this type of music is, but BTS... I'm from po Polish u and believe me, when I saw a newspaper in a store in 2017 that said something about some Korean idols, I ignored it. It was my sisters who introduced me to kpop "for fun". Although BTS came first, I gave my heart to EXO. But as they say, "Once an ARMY, always an ARMY." When EXO slowed down for the army, I returned to BTS. 2019 and BOY WHIT LOV. And... I was hooked. And they think it's a myth that you can't be a loyal fan as both ARMY and EXO-L. I can cope perfectly well in this condition. 😂😂😂I think you should start over from the debut and "see" how BTS grew from strength to strength. You will have a full cross-section of their careers. It is a beautiful journey. Good luck.

Hi Pierre, good reaction :) Some answers to your questions - BTS discography is 99% in Korean (with some English sentences mixed in the lyrics here and there) which is a blessing, as I think as Koreans, they shine the most in their native language, and also the language itself allows for so much more layers, wordplays and meanings than the simplistic English (no offense intended towards the English language)
For Dynamite I highly recommend you to watch NPR tiny desk home concert with BTS (look for a version with subtitles) as they sing live with a band, and an amazing guitarist.
I was a baby ARMY when I saw the Tiny desk concert and it was when I realized, OK - no turning back from this point, I'm in this BTS world for live.
Another very good video to watch is Boracity magazines Ranking Dynamite live performances. It will give you a very good example on the creativity and talent of BTS and Big Hit (their label company)

No they don't always sing in english. Is only like 2 or 3 tracks that were in full english. The other 200+ songs are in korean and totally different vibes and genres.
