For me the "box" represents what society, the media, the standard that people in general want to transform you into. Today, if IU and V decided to start dating, for example, thousands of "boxes" would emerge to try to fit them into their own molds and would go to extremes for this, when for some people love is simply two people who are enough for each other.
I can definitely see how that makes sense!! also, how the popular saying "people try to force others into boxes" fits with this theme as well. the pile of clothes in the MV that belong to the dead people can represent people who've been forced into a box and thrown away/lost their true selves. The two characters in the MV tried to hide and escape from the box but in the end they were helpless too, just like how it's hard to not be forced into society's expectations of you.

I would love this to be made into a full blown kdrama with these 2. It doesn't need to be a very long drama, only 8 episodes could be enough, or even 6. A mini series.

One theory I read, the couple represents aging people who are close to death and the cube represents the inevitable death. IU’s character is deaf and Taehyung’s one eye is blind. That’s why she uses sign language when they’re eating and she covered Taehyung’s left eye at the end to protect it. One theory I read, the couple represents aging people who are close to death and the cube represents the inevitable death. They were reminiscing their youth through the cam recorder which is all cheerful, bright and colorful. However, the reality is not as beautiful, when it’s time for you to go, you have to go. They spent their time together loving each other until their last breath.

As I'm sure you know, IU recorded the studio version of this song while suffering from flu. How she had enough breath -- let alone stamina -- to record is beyond me.

There was a movie from the 40's called "Enchanted Cottage" thst this reminds me of. The couple in that had imperfections but in the cottage they looked perfect to each othet because they were in love.
