This was absolutely fucking magical, (G)I-DLE has done it again, there's literally NOTHING that these girls CAN'T do! I got some E.T/Fifth Element and even Wall-E vibes from this haha but those are just some of the thoughts that popped into my head during the first impression portion, my mind was all over the place so it's gonna be fun to read your comments as everything settles and we get to watch this a few more times :) Can't wait for the English album, September feels so far away!!
The "barcode" is actually the I-DLE logo. I choose to believe that, like E.T., she managed to "phone home", and that the I-DLE logo she was standing on was her teleport signal location; that she didn't sacrifice herself, just went back to where she belongs, now with bittersweet memories of Earth. I don't know or care what she did with the soldiers. :P
As far as me calling the "act" a "Sacrifice", as you guys mentioned it's more of them going back home but it's still kind of a sacrifice because they can't be with the kid and they have to go home otherwise the kid will get hurt, plus much like E.T they HAVE to go home not just because of the danger they bring but maybe much like E.T they're not compatible with earth, maybe I'm reading too much into it lol. But yes, on a first impression, I definitely thought "sacrifice" in the dark and gloomy sense, but everyone's alive in the end, well, other than the bad guys, but who cares about them muhahah.
My interpretation of this MV is that the man is the symbolic of (G)I-DLE members and the alien is Soojin. They shared great memories together, but at the end the alien had to leave him to not only from the face of the earth but to not put him in any danger from the Fed, or anti fans.
This is one of my favorite Kpop MVs for sure. It is so beautiful, I actually got a bit teary when I've watched it for the first time. It's so beautiful, idle never disappoints❤ thank you for reacting to it!

someone likely has mentioned but 88rising the label handling the English side of the promotion filmed a thai mv for this which is overkill but it does have a lovely storyboard The song and music video are simply amazing. The director did a fantastic job and told a story that could easily work on television. Additionally, all the members of the group did an excellent job with their acting. If I were a director or producer working on a webtoon adaptation, I would definitely consider these talented ladies for the project.
@drww1 Miyeon has already been on a webtoon series. "Replay: The Moment." From what I heard was that the directing was horrible that even some of the cast mentioned it, (Can't confirm if true, just based of reviews.) Everyone who watched it was only because Miyeon was one of the MC of the show. I personally watched it as well just for her. Story was predictable and I agree that it could've done better. Also read reviews that it was a pretty lower budget end for a webtoon adaptation, (also can't confirm if true.)
this mv in my opinion, when you just met someone you dont know.. they are "Alien" to you, their emotional,behavior,knowlegde was new to you. some how you need to learn from them or teach to them to complete each other. and the bad guys appear just like a 3rd person in real life...they disturb,hunt,kill and want you to far appart from your love. the ending, the "Alien" have to sacrifice herself to letgo all the trouble because she dont want you to get hurt. what a beautiful mv.
So in term of english releases, I think this one is coming in my Top 3 with "The Feels" and "Moonlight Sunrise" (tho "Dynamite" is up there too) and it feels soooo good to finally see more groups having solid english releases cause it's always interesting to see K-pop's take on english songs imo. Ofc, no need to talk about how amazingly good the girls did on this one, it's IDLE we know that they're unmatched so yeah, just a crazy good release from them once again, can't wait for the album now :D

The beginning said something was causing violence on the planet. I think she took away the violence, pain, sadness when she disappeared. She saw and felt the goodness humans were capable.
The MV is a real masterpiece and if it comes to Soojin i think that they are slowly checking public reactuon to her comming back as a celebrity so Maybe in the end she will comeback plus Minnie and Soojin had very similar posts and people say they were togehter bc of bubbles in the caption.
I think there might be a chance that the girls, while leaving, have to wipe out all the memories of them from the kid. Hence the kid seems confused instead of grieving in the end.
I think at the end she didn’t blow herself up/sacrificed herself but it seemed more like she teleported back to the planet she’s from, at least that’s what I chose to believe cause the other option is too devastating for me 😅

"A collaboration with 88rising"! This did not seem like a gidle/Soyeon song/mv to me, the lack of real instruments was obvious. I could be 100 % wrong, but I think it was 88rising's concept, music, lyrics, and production and our girls were just the actresses. I still enjoyed it but it just didn't feel like gidle's style.
hmm... love (G)I-DLE, love the concept, love the MV... but the song itself... at least after first listen... generic forgettable western indie pop sound (not unlike Allergy with its generic Avril Lavigne sound but Allergy at least had a very strong message). I'm also not the biggest fan when K-Pop groups release all English title tracks. Many K-Pop fans where drawn to K-Pop because its different (and Korean). So going all English and generic western pop might sacrifice the very thing, that made K-Pop special for many people. A bit disappointed in this one especially compared to past releases from them. This song is not for me. Maybe it will grow on me.
