Installing Viper Coil Mod on Jeep WJ Grand Cherokee | Najar Offroad

  • Today we install the Viper Coil Mod from KSuspensionFab to replace the stock coil pack. Coil Packs tend to fail and make it hard to diagnose issues. The Viper Coil Mod solves the issue and makes diagnosing any issues with the ignition on your Jeep way easier! I would recommend getting this kit instead of another coil pack for that reason! and they are around the same price so might as well upgrade with their complete kit!

I've gotten 16.4 miles to the gallon in my 2002 jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4×4 4.0l6 by using synthetic oil, tripple platinum spark plugs and wires, clean the throttle body and replace the front brake calipers rotors and pads because someone didn't have a clue about doing brakes so I was getting around 10 miles to the gallon because of the dragging of the brakes but All Is great 4 inch lift 33 ×12.5 tires on R17 and I'm happy with the gas mileage power. and I'm going to do that mod for sure so thanks again for Another Great Video

The old style coil pack is also susceptible to oil leak from the valve cover and heat from being directly connected to the engine, this mod will definitely help with the oh-so-fun to trace intermittent misfires. Probably do this on mine once the new lifters and head gasket are installed, also debating doing the washer an coolant jug swap and putting in a second battery for accessories.

I dont feel so bad now getting 16+ mpg. I did just put a new motor in 5k mils ago. I had the bottom of piston 6 explode on the highway. Still made it home 50mils away lol cant go wrong with the inline 6. Also, it only exploded because i got the jeep from my dad, he believes oil changes are a scam. Still lasted 176k miles with maybe two oil changes before i got to it.

I have a 99 Jeep Grand Cherokee and ordered the bracket and wire harness. I did not get the coil because I have a few coils for my 2000 dodge grand caravan with the 3.3 liter engine . I found out that you need a specific year for it to work. You need one from a 2001 to 2010 grand caravan and also the Dodge Viper 1997 to 2006 will work. Went and got the proper coil for it and will install and see if it runs

You mention firing order a few times in the video - the firing order on a 4.0 is 1-5-3-6-2-4. You said 1-2-3-4-5-6; that's the order of the cylinders front-to-back.
It looks like the coil pack handles the firing order internally, so not a big deal functionally as you gave the most important info in the video: which spark plug goes to which post on the coil pack.
    Just FYI.
