Just did this. It is quite refreshing to have a quality mod that goes on fast. For me, the toughest part was undoing the connector at the coil rail. With about 5 inches of lift and bigger tires, it is perfect height to make this job unnecessarily difficult. I learned that on mine there is enough slack rhat I can rotate the coil rail so that spark plugs boots are facing up and I was able to pull on the connector while pushing down on the releasing tab. That was strangely difficult to do in the original position. HTH!
What year of caravan are the wires from? When i bought my cherokee it already had a coil pack like that a black one. The bracket is painted black steel. I dont want to buy a cut to length wire kit but need to replace my wires.

Found problem with the 2000 coil pack. Plug wire have to be swapped 1 and 3 and 4 and 6 have to be moved to work with this coil pack. Jeep runs fine now
I have a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee and I got one of your brackets and wire harness. I thought I would be able to use my spare coil pack from my 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan it didn’t work. I check the plug wires and I had them on right and it still doesn’t run. I ordered the coil you recommended and found they are from a 2001 to 2010 grand caravan or 1997 to 2006 Dodge Viper and a few other models. Will find out if it runs when it comes in
looks like the 00 grand caravan uses the same plug, but firing order is different. you'd have to play with the orientation of the firing order, or pull up a diagram to figure out which legs fire on which circuit to the harness to make it work. That said, the new one should work properly w/out issue.
The basic kit comes with the bracket, harness, hardware, coil pack, plug wires. Everything you need for a simple and quick installation. There is also options for DIY builder parts where you can buy just one part or whatever other parts you need individually.
So, it's easier to diagnose misfires & check spark plugs cuz of the singular wires but if something happens to the coil pack, you still have to replace the whole thing. Same as the coil rail.
correct, however it is much cheaper than the rail and more readily available as they're a more common part due to the newer vehicles using them that are on the market.

I know my 1996 ECU/ECM has a LOT of problems adjusting to an aftermarket coil as Chrysler made the ignition system VERY sensitive. Is the 2000/2001 better? I'm replacing the head on 2001 and since I'm in there...
Google "2000 Jeep XJ coil rail". This viper coil pack replaces that monstrosity with something that is very similar to having a distributor. More reliable, easier to troubleshoot. This is only for Jeeps that have the coil rail setup. If you have a distributor, you're already better off!

If I buy the complete kit from you, does it come with xj fitted spark plug wires, or are they the longer Grand Caravan wires? Is there any benefit to the RIPP coil on a stock xj?
They are XJ plug wires, we've found that they fit a bit nicer with a lot less slack for a cleaner finish. the RIPPmods coil pack is a performance pack that offers a hotter spark, helps the engine run much more efficiently.
Do you mean the harness extension to plug into the new coil? We have them on our website as just a harness only option under the Viper Mod Product Description. We are working on a bracket and whole kit for TJ's as well right now.
Deletes rail, no more issues troubleshooting spark or ignition problems. Easier to access plugs, easier to test individual circuits. Cheaper to replace anything down the line if anything fails, no more accidental “whoops” because you tore a boot removing the rail. Take your pick on reasoning for the swap. If it works, go for it, but for most users, it’s a great swap
KSuspension I just wired up the coil on mine with the same wires to the same position in the new coil and the Jeep don’t run. I used a coil off of a 2008 3.8l off of a town and country

KSuspension well I did not order the kit from you. I took inspiration from your set up and tried to do my own by purchasing a coil, wires, and a plug for the new coil. I made my own plate, and mounted everything up. When I went to wire the coil up, I cut and spliced the wires into the new connector in the same orientation as the old one. And it did not run.
does it matter if the viper coil has different numbers on it? Yours is 1 - 3 on the left side and 4-6 on the right. Mine as one in the middle then two on bottom side and so forth. Can i follow your firing order?
the viper coil itself is marked like you described because it's a V10 engine. uses a 6 coil pack and a 4 coil pack to make up all 10 cylinders. the firing order changes to what we described to make it work with your 6cyl engine.

Why not individual coil packs and what about an individual controller like MSD or other? It seems like the replacement coil would still be hard to diagnose?
There is no individual coil pack option, otherwise we would have gone that route. And a single coil pack is very easy to diagnose over a rail. And same for each plug now as everything is exposed.

Very sorry, I don’t understand your question. The firing order as we explained it is the correct path for the I6 engine. The viper coil works off of a V10 system in the Viper or a V6 for the Wranglers. So the printed firing order is incorrect for a straight six, you’ll have to change the order to match the 4.0 firing order.

luke ahh, now I get where you’re coming from. My apologies So the jumper is pinned the same as the oem circuit. For the WJ models. We have a modified jumper that changes the pin out since the WJ requires that to run an aftermarket coil. So we have 2 different wire sets

That’s correct. We got red for ourselves. They are normally black.

indeed they do! they use 2 coil packs to deliver ignition spark. 1 pack has 6 coils and the other has 4
