  • In conditions such as a stroke, brain injury or brain tumor, the brain's ability to control the body is impaired.
As a result, involuntary contractions of the muscles may occur. We call these involuntary contractions spasticity.
Spasticity is the involuntary contraction response of the muscle when we move the hand, arm and leg quickly. Spasticity prevents the active use of the arm and impairs the quality of walking. It can result in closed toes, outward bending of the leg, or drooping of the ankle.
We apply methods such as physiotherapy, stretching exercises and cold applications to prevent spasticity. On the other hand, sometimes botulinum toxin may be required to overcome spasticity.
Botox application can be done in various ways, but the most successful method is the application with ultrasound guidance. We can see which muscle and where the needle is injected and in this way, we can apply the injection to the right place.
In the treatment of spasticity, the success rate of botox application under US guidance is quite high.
