I have not tried Nigerian food, but I was a little worried about how the cousin would react. He definitely needs to mature. Yall are filming and eating in these people's establishment, try to be respectful. A few of these fans don't want to hear any type of criticism for the people they like and admire. There is nothing wrong with constructive criticism.

I'm a Black American who left America in July 2021 to travel around the continent of Africa and I have never looked back. It was the best decision I have ever made. I am currently in Rwanda, Eastern Africa. I love all types of African food, but I especially love Nigerian food. My favorites are Jollof and Egusi. Just a side note...I don't expect you all to like everything you taste...no one does, but please be respectful. I have never seen your cousin act that way towards other cuisines. It is okay not to like some foods, but please be mature about it.

Cam is very young which is the only reason I’m excusing his behavior in this video. As a foodie and someone who genuinely loves food shows, my advice would be to have Cam watch some of the greats! Anthony Bourdain, Andrew Zimmern, Guy Fieri, Philip Rosenthal…to name a few. All have tried foods they weren’t accustomed to and still gave their honest opinion without offending cultures. That would be a good assignment for him. You BOTH have so much potential to have commercial success…I don’t agree with the comments tearing him down. I'm South African and what I can say is that African cuisine is an acquired taste.
It makes total sense why it would taste funny to an American trying it for the first time.
The texture of egusi soup also threw me off the first time I had it but I love it now after trying it a couple of times.

The Fufu can be made from pounded yam (white sweet potato, which is the one you ate), plantain, cassava, semolina, and others.
The nutty taste is either melon seeds, ground up, or natural pumpkin seeds ground up.

This is a foodie channel, they were just in LA tasting a variety of Japanese noodles at different establishments. They gave their honest opinions at each restaurant so what's the issue? They just happen to be passing through a Nigerian establishment but the channel is not solely based on Nigerian food. You're not forced to even watch their videos so why don't you grow up.............⬆️ that way

You look Igbo for sure....Light short and stocky with a Big head. Igbo's dont play about their Bread (Guap) they are Shrewd business people. The slimy soup you was eating , is okra mixed with ogbono soup (. Egusi is basically grounded melon seeds . Each tribe cooks differently .... you have to try your tribe way ,Igbo This is coming from a Edo Girl, which is one of the 250 tribes in Nigeria . Remember this ....Once you step into Nigeria , its about your Tribe , Nigeria is the name British people give the country. Look up Igbo History in Nigeria . Your mouth will open.

Yep, fufu is an acquired taste. Jollof rice is my go to meal when ordering Nigerian food 😋 but make sure to ask how spicy it is. Some restaurants make it extra spicy which i can't handle 😂

If you are trying Nigerian food you have to try Liberian food. Collared greens and pepper soup for starters.
Facts! Liberian food is great. In addition to those two dishes, I think check rice and gravy, fried Spinach, and jollof rice w/pepper chicken are good starters as well. Can even add potato greens in there.

You will notice similarities in Southern cuisine and Liberian cuisine because of this return to Africa. However, it was Africanized by the native people leaving their before their arrival and settlement. I'm of the Americo-Liberian and Bassa ethnic groups in Liberia.

If you want to try good Nigerian food in the US, you have to go to Texas or NY. Even northern NJ. There could be other places but I have never heard of LA being even close to “it” when it comes to our food in the states. Def hop on a plane and do this one over. Nigerian food is like no other. Even though i lwas born in the uk i grew up on it, it's like comfort/soul food to me. The food auntie served you guys looked so good! Your friend over there being disrespectful as heck tho, you can have an opinion but keep it classy. Food is a massive part of any culture, it hella hurtful for it to be disrespected.

Fufu is made from casaba root that is similar to mashed potatoes in consistency…… not all people of Africa can cook just like all people here can’t……the slime is from okra….. but it needs to be spicy for most Americans to enjoy and Mr camera man … grow up a little ok😇
Most cultures come to USA and modify their recipes to drab western states because average westerners can't handle the real spices! If you wanted it spicy ask for it! When you're used to real food, eating fried greasy food is a joke to you!

I had some Sierra Leonine fish dish at my cousins wedding and boy was it 🔥 🔥🔥🔥 I have to ask her what it was called. As an Ethiopian we rarely venture out for food that’s not our own national dish, but Sierra Leone definitely helped me open up to new foods🥰🥰
You have definately had African food before. Although, there are many variations of West Africa food in the American cuisine. Dirty Rice is a variation of Jollof. Then there is Gumbo, Jambalaya, Black eyed peas, Greens, Yams, Plaintains even rice itself (low country Carolinas)
