Finally! A review of the new Corolla Altis same looks with the PH version. Thanks for doing this! But I really hoped that you also include infotainment and showed how big the trunk space of this baby! But hey you did the leg room and the head room test that I was looking for a review. Kudos! And thank you very much!!!
Wow!!! The rear seats can be reclined!! Taiwanese version doesn't have this feature, and all the safety features we can get are.......VSC (only in the highest trim) and 2 airbags (even in the highest).
It's not just the back lit optitron clusters that sort of "fool" owners into thinking that the head lights are on, but the daytime running lamps too, I have noticed drivers also misused them as headlights at night. I do welcome the soft touches on the dashboard as a design element as the likes of top segment saloons/suvs. With that, the clock looks somewhat awkward.
I like yr review alot, you are doing very good. Just some recommendation, it would be nice if you would touch or scatch or knock the interior just to let the audiences know what is the build quality of the car.
Thanks for doing a review on it, I need some others opinions too. Aside that the exterior is more sophisticated compared to the previous generation, it has a better speed power which is really good and I personally have tried it. I couldn't agree more about the out-of-fashion clock (I can't believe it still exist in this world and it irritates me a lot when test drove it). The interior material wise is not even up to a good quality standard, it feels like it is made of plastic and it's like i'm sitting in a Malaysia locally-made car, not a Japanese car. In short, exterior superb but sorry to say that interior is kinda disappointing to me.
Van Houtte Oh poor you if you live in North America.. The rest of the world enjoys the much better version. btw, It's marketed in Asia as the Corolla Altis.
had a corolla le eco here in canada. it's a 1.8 liter valvematic engine. getting 16 km/l average on a 30/70 city/hiway. got a best 20 on a good traffic and a worst 11.5 on a 1 hour crawl to the bridge because of an accident.
Does it have that, simple & practicality in a sedan, like what they used to have in previous Corolla? I used to love Corollas, but I don't know why, Toyota keep pushing this car into much "older" / mature audience, then they used to... Am I right?
toyota service in SIngapore is non existence as the team would bring me in circle. I got no answers to why there are "knocking" noises when I drive off, the GPS is not accurate, many times failed ignition because of "Keys not detected", noise when reversing. Worse is the mileage is out by about 25%
Just tested the new altis, and i have to say, the power is ridiculously horrible. Thanks to the new cvt. On top of that, in sports mode paddle shift, if you hold the revs long enough and accidentally hit the limiter, it will automatically up shift for you and if so happen you intended to shift at the same time, you will end up double up shifts...whats the point of having pedal shifters if its going to shift for you?..Nice car, poor performance, and the flat dashboard? totally rubbish
The clock remind me of Proton Saga and Iswara. Toyota are really targeting those who owned that car when was young. Old style for old man. Wake up Toyota. The image rejuvenation should impact every aspect of the car and not just exterior design.
Me watching this 8 years later
quite possibly one of the best reviews out thereon youtube ... thanks Chris !
Anyone that knows toyota vehicles knows about the clock ... it's a trademark

you're right! the car looks great but the clock isn't modern
I agree with the clock.
the reclining rear seat is impressive and the clock is actually looks like 90% similar with the old model, anyway is a good practical car

Hi Vincent! I have to agree with you!
The Altis is the Corolla S version in the US.
Atlas looks so much better than Corolla S not fair that they get a 2.0 liter as well. I bet Asia will get the first Turbocharged ones too.
Why wouldn't you want soft touch materials in your car? It's a sign of quality. You wouldn't use hard plastics in a Ferrari, would you?
Awesome review bro. Keep it up. :)
