This is the story of two whiskies now produced by the same company J & G Grant which is known for it's famous and historic brand, Glenfarclus. In 2004, J & G Grant purchased the old whisky brokerage firm, William Lundie & Co. known for their Lismore Whisky brand. We are going to compare the Glenfarclus 17 versus the Lismore 18. This is a comparison of an iconic whisky brand to a whisky that has a ridiculously killer price and is owned by the same company. I had previously done the Glenfarclas 21 with the 50 ml mini-bottles I had brought back from Scotland to the Lismore 21 that had been around for a couple years and I had never popped the cork. The interesting thing was I had been planning on picking up a Glenfarclas 21 but could never find it in BC until I noticed one bottle in a liquor store I don't frequent too often. I didn't purchase it at that moment but went back a few days later to find it gone. I checked on their web page as well and it said there was zero in stock. They also had the Lismore brand so when I went back to pick up the Lismore 18 a few weeks later, low and behold there was one green Glenfarclas 21 canister on the shelf. I had to pry the money out of my tight budget pockets and kept telling myself that "This is for future investment". Well at this time it is just being used for props so you will see that canister on my shelf in this video.
Lismore is a brand that I feel should be paid attention to just because it is produced by a company known for their integrity, realistic pricing and the quality of their whiskies. At a time when we are seeing a lot of price gouging by the greedy Spirit Beverage companies, the Lismore brand has some pretty attractive pricing. Let's take in consideration that it is produced by J & G Grant and could probably have some of the Glenfarclas distillery whisky in the bottle so how good is this whisky? That is why we are comparing the two whiskies. Take a seat and let's find out. Enjoy the video. Slàinte Mhath

Pulled out my 10yr Glenfarclas Tyndrum Gold 51.9% to join along, a single barrel with a bit more heft. Sadly sold out now, cheers Noel
