I’m interested in the girl from Madagascar. Apart from French they speak Malagasy which is an Austronesian language related to Malayo-Polynesian languages . There are some very similar words
Yeah, they came from the same family of languages. It is really interesting cause it is in Africa and the other members of the language are in South east Asia.
@@aljohnpolyglot when Austronesians migrated from Southern Taiwan they travelled south populating what is now the Philippines, Indonesia, Borneo and Malaysia. They also travelled East, populating Micronesia. Those that travelled west finally landed in Madagascar merging with the indigenous African people. Part of that Austronesian wave that didn’t assimilate that much with the indigenous peoples settled in the central highland part of Madagascar. Their language is Austronesian in origin because they are the DNA cousins of the Filipinos, Indonesians and Malaysians of today.

True. If a foreigner goes to Cebu, don't talk to locals in Tagalog bec you'll be raising a lot of eyebrows so better speak to them in English if you cannot speak Cebuano yet. Of course, Cebuanos know how to speak Tagalog but they rather speak their native tongue over Tagalog.
hahahah the rivalry between Tagalog speakers and Bisaya (cebuano) speakers. But I don't mind to speak in English, it will help me a lot in my English skills. I guess I get their point why they hate to speak in Tagalog, the mockery and stereotypes that they receive from the media and the people. I'm Ilonggo through my parents (Antique and Iloilo) but born and raised here in Metro Manila (Pasig). I get offended sometimes when they mock my parents' language that isn't funny and so on.
@@TeaDrinker-eq3md I think it's the other way around. You can see and observe that in the media, and public. The stereotypes towards them are quite saddening. Plus, the mockery of their accents as they speak Tagalog. Not all Tagalog people are bad, but some of them are. It also happens to any group of people.
@@hirayamanawari3583 contrary to your belief, we're not like that. it's because of the media, movies, social media that you think ALL people from luzon are discriminatory when in fact were not. my gf is from aklan, she speaks aklanon and tagalog ofcourse she speaks tagalog with me but I don't chastise her for her little accent slips coz I understand that she's not from around here. honestly, when I went to cebu It felt like I wasn't in the Philippines because they refuse to speak tagalog with me, they conversate in English and it's just sad. we're all Filipinos, our national language is tagalog we should embrace it accent and all.
It the same with us ilonggo/hiligaynon people we prefer speak English straight or just speak the native tongue. One time my family from manila take vacation here in my hometown in visayas they all make fun of my tagalog bcuz it has ilonggo accent then in the next day i just speak English with a little of ilonggo omg the reaction 😮😂 it's payback time.
Those Tagalog people don't represent us all. I'm 50% Tagalog and 50% Visayan (25% from Capiz and 25% from Bohol) and it's just sad how fellow Filipinos are hating on each other simply due to regional differences.
@@TeaDrinker-eq3md at first it was sad that they make fun of us for having thick accent specially ilonggo and bisaya and then call us "the probinsyana" for insult I'm a gamer i always encounter insult in the chat but later on im use to it.
THIS!!! Yes, those people are likely from the city from Metro Manila unlike other Tagalog Speaking people from the provinces like for example here in Laguna, there are a lot of migrant workers coming from all parts of the Philippines and we don't discriminate fellow Filipinos even if they have a heavy accents.
I grew up in manila but went to school in the Visayas. Classmates would make fun of how i spoke. They would say why buy si kel, when it’s pronounced buy si kul here. Why pop sikel, and not pop sikul? Do you pronounce High School as High Skel?? Of course it was not malicious but kids giving other kids a hard time. So ilonggos and cebuanos don’t take it personal because when given the opportunity you would do it too.
so if you know Spanish and French seems like you can travel more countries around the world and you can survive unlike you are just relying on English.
