Desertification is a huge problem in many places all around the world. Gives you hope when you see so many volunteers willing to work decades to do something about it!
This is the ultimate love at play. Sacrificing an entire lifetime so that the next generation can have a better future. The day will come, where women and men of this amazing ancestry can stand on the vast green oasis beyond the eye can consume and celebrate amongst the spirits that guided them.
Such hard backbreaking task by so many for so long. Digging Planting grass in such harsh conditions. Looks almost a lost cause n no fruits or grain to reap. Yet they do it n see the need to fight desertification. The foresight, the resolve, to get people doing it day in day out for decades. Respect them is an understatement. In my country we are blessed with jungles n we are cutting them down indiscriminately. Sigh.
You want the sand to become sticky to prevent it being blown by winds. Grasses have detergent properties and can emulsify water into oils/fats lipids. If that soil had sulphur added (such as by planting alliums), it could cause cross-linking in the molecules of vegetable oils (which also can be used as a cash crop for biodiesel) to deliberately clog soil and to prevent oils in the soil from repelling water (and an example of that becoming a problem elsewhere is from biochar). The advantage of alliums (like onions) is that they have large cell structures and are yet more ways to trap a large amount of water mass per cellulose biomass. Some of the onions can be left to degrade back into the soil to rerelease that sulphur. The large onion cells also trap heavy metals from the soil in their cells, and a smaller effect can also happen whereby chelation traps the heavy metals. I do think though that small areas of that land need a bulldozer and tractor backhoe taken to it to form a resevoir. Eventually you could have ground stable enough to grow some trees (some of which would be felled and buried back into the ground with a tractor backhoe, like hugelkultur waldpits).
Well done china. Every country should inspire from chinese modern agriculture.Nepal has some small deserts, we need this technics and government support to agriculture.
Good job and illustration. Hope and wish military budgets would make way for financing such efforts. Trust there are provisions to redirect storm water to such places. The commitment of people is indeed enviable
Go, Go! young reporter. you are doing very great !. Be confident !!! :) Salut to people working like this.! the Ram pump is worth to further study for possible use in such plan.
china should plant moringa tree at the desert, moringa tree need a lot of sun light, but not much water, which is very suitable for the desert, and also can sell moringa for profit.
Of those Chinese people not the government, politicians, or city Chinese, just this farm people that for two generations are trying themselves to stop the desert to grow
It seems God is living with the chiness desert formers. Hardly anyone does spend his lift time fight through despire and emptiness. Thank you my lady and my fellow chinese!
Impressive. Ironically today I read news that Bejing is hit by a sandstorm. There is still a lot of work to do, but seeing this is making me very hopeful that the Chinese will do the work needed, including stopping greenhouse gas emissions. If China does not do this, the whole world is screwed.
Just modify a plough to insert the hay and tow it behind a tractor. For a few $ more you can run a small electric tractor on solar. Use gps from a phone and ask a university to write an app to fully automate the process. Job done.
China would better to register the Checker-Board Method of Greening the Desert as her Intellectual Property, a common practice in USA & Europe eg, Gnome Project. Anyone use it must pay loyalty to Chna.
I love what she said that sound it is thatt the politicians are the ones with this project, went she said that china is doing to stop the desert, went it is just few farm men
Good job China. it's nice to see your country doing something good. i just hope your country stops bullying Taiwan, HongKong, japan, philippines, Vietnam, etc.
These supposed sucess stories or reforestation and creating oasis out of the desert need to get together with the people making videos of polluted rivers, toxic smog over their cities, giant sand storms, and deep well polluted ground water, flooding and erosion, etc... One side of this story has to be false.
I would like to see the deserts of Arizona, Nevada, and New Mexico grow switchgrass into giant grids. Switchgrass is a native prairie grass. Irrigation could be used by using condensation of humidity. Especially at night humidity is more abundant. Refrigeration units containing tanks of water could cool water yo be ice cold, then this water travels along pipes and the humidity condenses on the pipes, falling to the ground, watering the switchgrass. Then, the water travels back to the tank to be cooled all over again. The pipe is in a loop system.
Thank you Miss, for your excellent glimpse into the dedication of this group of your fellow countrymen and the remedial work they do..
Magnificent story, never lose hope, never surrender. Amazing that people, if they work smart and persevere, can change deserts and grow forests.
How beautiful and peaceful life in China ❤👌🎂🍬😍
Thank you so much to all see you soon . 😍

Those same people will be incarnated in the same family/area in a few decades. So, they are actually building their own future.
Well done, amazing work!
These old people work very hard.
This is a wonderful story of collaboration and care, inspiration and careful attention

Thanks for this amazing Chinese achievement on desertification that countries can do. 🇨🇳😍 🤝👏
You are doing a reat work to share this rich experience. It's so clear and useful.
Greating from the heart of algerien desert .

Awesome, this is very cool.
Absolutely wonderful!!!

FANTASTIC DOCUMENTARY !!!!!!!!!!!
All thanks and credit go to the beautiful young lady reporting and demonstrating the process of creating checker board.

Amazing.
Saya suka orang cina, rajin dan ulet dalam bekerja.
Wish i could help, love to plant trees
You’ll have a hard time finding Americans to do this back-breaking hard work in Nevada Arizona & New Mexico.
It could be done by robots. I am surprised that I don't see any Chinese robots equipped with 5G doing this kind of works, yet.
@@michaelngan99 5G towers have a range of about 1000 ft. Thanks for contributing with your knowledge.
Job well done to everyone involved. It’s not always about the money.
How do these people earn a living. After turning the desert green, who owns these land? Must really admire their determination.
State welfaee
Great efforts. Would be nice to see a picture of the Oasis in this area...
Respect for China and its people
Great job!!!!
You can grow all you want. It's the water that you'd face the most challenging problem.
China has several major water projects on the same scale as California moving water from northern California to southern California.
nice and interesting video, great
👏👏👏🙏🙏🙏😘😘😘🇹🇩
i am student of china in sichuan province
How many mm of rain falls per year in this area?
How long would the straw last. One year , may be two.. And then the same activity is repeated ?
Poor girl is out of breath ..keep up the good work.

Bravo.

I am having trouble hearing any words coming out of that little angels mouth
Amazing CHINA
Desertification research is useful to all peoples.
well done..
keep going china
With that many engineers in China, they should develop a machine to do this.

She just needs to let me know if she wants to come here and I will take care of the rest
Ecxellent
They are making great effort....but it will take 233 years...to fully do the job..

so were is the oasis ? I saw only a few living trees
The checker box is only an ideea. Don't loose time: plant trees !! And after that: all uncomfortable climate, will be slowly reversed .
..such along intro which was unneccessary. The reporter should have brief and to the point
Can I think of a way to deny 33% of people access to this video - simple - just don't include sub-titles!
How China Transformed Desert into Green Forests What about lakes, If Gobilla has 1,001 lakes
Ilove china
Such a important work you should get a professional English speaking reporter who can present it with better quality reporting.
Why should we denature this magnific cultural example polishing It according to western cultural patterns?
I really liked her reporting and I understand her English perfectly fine. Great job.
I understand her very clear her English is very well
