yes he was my turtle and in the nes sequel arcade game.. he can keep one bar of health seemingly forever before dying. to this day that strikes me as weird.
All the turtles were good in this game this game is one of the best on the nes Raphael and Michaelangelo are the best in this game Raph spins his sai..it's fkn cool bro...
As soon as I saw you video here, I took a quick video of it on my mobile phone and sent it to her. She remembers the game only too well. The funny thing is that this was the first ever computer game that she had played! My friends just could not get over the fact that she beat it. She became a bit of a gaming wizard really but my dad hated her playing it as he said she neglected the housework lol. She is now 63 but I bet she could still kick some serious butt! ;)
i dont think ppl realized how hard it really was inside the technodrome soooo tuff!! this is the first time ive seen the ending ever.... and im 28.... well done man well done
This game was definitely one of a kind for NES. The gameplay was so unique compared to other ones of that era. It was not for kids that's for sure, I remember being so upset not being able to pass the second level (I was about nine years old at the time). I have only been able to beat the game once so far especially since my NES is so old it glitches most of the time.
One of my fav games from childhood. Totally underrated. I've been going back to it lately, lol. I never did beat it as a kid, but I went back to it as a teenager and beat it. Man, this game is a challenge...
I never found the underwater stage too hard. The real killer was the hallway leading up to Shredder. There were so many lasers, flying robots, and random bullets all in you way. If your turtle didn't have a healthy supply of Scrolls to blast through everything, it's was nearly impossible to survive "The Gauntlet."
It's like the developers really tried to be hateful by throwing everything at you at the last minute. Stuff like that prevents me from fully recommending the game to others
"You guys have excelled my skills"... Yay. I excelled the skills of an old rat in dressing gown, who's been remaining indoors during the whole thing. Talking about a reward for beating up such a hard game. Joy.
Your exactly right. He WAS human. I was kind of upset as a kid when I watched the 1st movie and found that they changed the story. In the movie, he was just a rat that learned martial arts from his master Hamato Yoshi. I was 12 years old and goin "What the hell were they THINKLING?!" But any true fan knows the story that originated in the comics and that remained the same in the syndicated cartoon.
It took me forever to beat this game because of the last stage but once you beat it's one of those games you go back playing along with other three TMNT games on the NES and SNES.
Haha, I gotta agree, I am 26 and never made it as far as the stage where you're looking for Splinter. I always read about it in Gamepros when I was a kid. Seeing this video finally puts to rest my sleepless nights that SOMEONE beat this game, I thought it was unbeatable lol
bizboy5 Leo dealt the same amount of damage no matter how much energy he has left (unlike Raph or Mike, their damage was tied to the remaining health they had). He was a decent turtle to move through a level, but he definitely needed sub weapons to deal with strong enemies.
A few strategies I forgot to use when fighting the TechnoDrome are to use the scrolls to take out the front claw and the two sentry turret guns, then use either Leo's Sword or Donnie's Staff to take out the Foot Soldier deploying hatch. With all of those down, putting that eye out of its misery would be as simple as that!
LOVE this game! Quick tip: If you ever use the game genie to make yourself invincible, don't fall in the lava. You'll stay there forever since you can't move or die. XD Just goes to show not every one of their games has to be a fighter! (Not that Arcade wasn't fun!)
Splinter's origin depends on what storyline you read/see. According to the '80s cartoon, he was human at first, and was transformed by the same goo that made the Turtles into what they are. In the original comic and movie, he started off as a pet rat.
I love how the kids of today knock these games if they were around doing these times they would see it was treat to be alive and a kid doing those days.I am 32 now and i miss the times when the Nes and the sega master system were new, loved the commercials and all that stuff back hey we even had arcades and knew how it was to waste quarters just to beat games instead of just downloading them on Xbox live and PSN.The kids of today will never know how it is to miss these days until they get older.
TMNT were my favorite thing as a kid. I remember playing this game and being frustrated as hell because I could not get any farther than the level after saving the dam (the disarming the bomb part was total BS). I'm glad im not the only one that had trouble with this game.
It took me FOREVER to get past the last 3 levels when I was a kid. I used to get lost in the damn Technodrome and those damn rocket soldiers would kick my ass.
celebrate with a pizza? i d want at least a few pints. seriously though was a great game, tried to play it recently and it was much tougher than i imagined. cheers for the vid
It's funny to see the Technodrome to be so small on the outside and be so big on the inside. I used my turtles in order from weakest to strongest. Raph, Mike, Leo, then Don. Shredder took me a while to beat, but I hate it when he turned me n2 a baby turtle. Damn, this take me back!
If I recall it correctly, in one episode of the 1987 series Splinter turns into human for a while... But in the end for some random reason I don't remember too well (I think some kind of radioactive barrier only mutants could bear) he turns back into a wererat to save the turtles
Man, I've had this game for longer than I remember. I never even got much passed the water dam level till I was in high school! I only beat the game once, about a year or so ago.
i have always really liked this game but could never really get too far. im glad you can do such an awesome job! lol. You may want to watch some of the videos from The Game Chasers on their channel captain8bit , they go out to find alllll kinds of retro games & systems and are hilarious!
This is the first game I played that I really wanted to beat but never could. Its pretty freaking hard when you're like 8 years old. I didn't know until years later that people say its one of the hardest "kids" games they have ever played lol.
i remember having this game and playing it, but i would always jump when everyone turned to fire and would start feeling weird and couldnt play it afterwards
I was only able to get as far as the technodrome because getting to the technodrome is only half the battle. The bad guys in that level take out your 2 blocks of health in one hit.
The 1987 cartoon changed the original story and made a human transformed into a rat. The first episode Leonardo stated that one day they would find who dropped the mutagen on them and return Splinter to normal. Of course the end of the first season had Splinter state that he feels it's his karma to live as a rat and the mission is seemingly abandoned but you can see were the game was going with the ending.
He was turned into the rat because when he made contact with the ooze, he was holding one of the many rats that he had then considered his family. The turtles, however, had been alone with no other animals other than splinter around AFTER they had already been in the ooze. Remember too, that Baxter was turned into a fly. Or that Shredder had the Mutaray gun that shot ooze and turned it's targets into specific animals. Either way, it's just fantasy, so does it REALY matter how it happened?
I found it really difficult too, but get this... MY MUM BEAT THE GAME BEFORE ME! lol. She loved it and became addicted. She played for hours a day until she beat it. God, I respected her when she did that!
me, it didnt matter which turtle i had....just as long as i had 99 scrolls for don and at least 20 for another turtle, this game flew by!! playin this easter out of tradition!!
The first time I ever got to Shredder as a kid, I stood on the lower right platform, threw a Scroll, and it got stuck on the edge of the higher platform, and Shredder kept jumping into it. I felt cheated because I spent several years trying to beat this game as a child, only to win by accident.
@Ruudos well I was only 12, maybe I was just worn out from the rest of the game that by the time I got to shredder I just didnt have the fight in me anymore. I cant explain it but he seemed hard to me.
Who succeeded in restoring the impression felt when playing it in the '90s? Like. I myself remember the fact of me playing it very well, but can't restore the exact impression received namely in the '90s right in the head... What makes me really sad is that I thought back then the impressions would be with me for good😢 I'm so sad I've got older.
What? Your droids. They'll have to wait outside. We don't want them here. Why don't you wait outside by the speeder, C3? We don't want any trouble. I hotly agree with you, sir.
I'm assuming Slash is the Turtle u fight 2 save Splinter on the rooftop? LOL Plus I like how Splinter turns back n2 a human only to be a rat again n the other games. I usually stock u on scrolls and tri-ninja stars b4 I even set foot near the technodrones' level.
Mecaturtle... I can still remember from the instruction manual (which I haven't read for about 15-20 years) that it was some kind of mechanical turtle with sword blades instead of hands... Funny how I remember more recent, useful information so much less well.
it took 30 years to finally see the ending to this game
Sim
Thanks for putting this video up.
Lot's of childhood memories.
Finally! I've been waiting to see the end of this game for years! It's nice to finally see the entire assortment of bosses in this game!
I am 15 years old friend and I finished it without problems, there are even more difficult games in the nes catalog
Yeah probably with a whole lot of practice maybe even years it's not like it happened on the first try
Never could beat this game.
Why do you think they invented Game Genie...
Hi 5 if you know about Dontaello's Bo staff being able to hit enemies behind him!
Stephen Herron What's up with that anyway??
@@Alysa-Aiday Most OP turtle in the bunch.
I've only ever beaten this game once back in high school.
im opposite.. as a kid I couldn't get to the end of the hallway with shredder.. but in my 20s I beat shredder once lol
Donatello. The superior turtle
He was always my favorite turtle as a kid.
yes he was my turtle and in the nes sequel arcade game.. he can keep one bar of health seemingly forever before dying. to this day that strikes me as weird.
Raph reclaimed the throne in the following games.
All the turtles were good in this game this game is one of the best on the nes Raphael and Michaelangelo are the best in this game Raph spins his sai..it's fkn cool bro...
Certainly got the job done in the video games😁
Bosses:
1. Bebop
2. Rocksteady
3. Mechaturtle
4. Big Mouser
5. Technodrome
6. Shredder
This game used to stress me out as a kid.....
It's so wild that a game with so much rage-inducing difficulty has such hilariously easy bosses.
As soon as I saw you video here, I took a quick video of it on my mobile phone and sent it to her. She remembers the game only too well. Wasn't a really big fan of the game, but the boss music still gives me shivers to this day. Konami and ULTRA knew what the hell they were doing.
if there's anything redeeming about this game, it's the soundtrack. absolutely fantastic tunes.
Amen!
Even then the other games had even better music in my opinion
This game used to crush my will to live when I was a child.
i dont think ppl realized how hard it really was inside the technodrome soooo tuff!! this is the first time ive seen the ending ever.... and im 28.... well done man well done
Poor shredder
That asshole had it coming to him!

damn. i thought those glitches where form some outdated emulator. guess not.
One of my fav games from childhood. Totally underrated. I've been going back to it lately, lol. I never did beat it as a kid, but I went back to it as a teenager and beat it. Man, this game is a challenge...

I loved this game I don't care what anybody says, it was so fun to play back in the day.
Thanks for this, takes me back to my younger days of staying up all night trying to finish it.
Fond memories of this game whipping my ass as a child, but I loved it. Recently picked it up again :)
As a kid could never find shredder al those doors damn
Man this brings back memories
Gosh this takes me back to my young days
my first video game and it was a good one. No memory cards, no hacking, just good ole brain and mind power vs the gaming world.
Thats wierd. When I last played this game, the music was much slower and more groovy. I wonder.
OMG,I'm so nostalgic..Time flies..I've never finished it,I died in the TechnoDrome 15 years ago=(
"You guys have excelled my skills." Another win for video game text translations.
"You guys have excelled my skills"... Yay. I excelled the skills of an old rat in dressing gown, who's been remaining indoors during the whole thing. Talking about a reward for beating up such a hard game. Joy.

This game use to bring out the rage within my 5 year old self.
That's exactually what I did everytime with Rocksteady !
Damn this games was hard, i used to play it all the time. I never got to shredder, but came close... You made it all look easy!
I loved this game when I was kid, tough as nails but that's why I loved it.
swear to god I use to play this every damn day!!!! I miss these days sooo much!!
i passed this game in the early 90's using around 10 scrolls to defeat last boss, lot of memories playing this game.
I very much enjoyed and agree with your description. Well done and thanks.
Donatello is the best in the.game?
josehim7x Leonardo should be! He's oldest, he's the Leader, and he carries 2, that's TWO, of the deadliest ninja weapons; Katana swords!
josehim7x In this game, yes, because the bo staff has the longest reach. The others pale in comparison.
Johnathan Patrick longest reach and biggest damage, for some random reason
Ya and I think Leonardo is the weakest...for some reason
bizboy5 Leo dealt the same amount of damage no matter how much energy he has left (unlike Raph or Mike, their damage was tied to the remaining health they had). He was a decent turtle to move through a level, but he definitely needed sub weapons to deal with strong enemies.

Endless hours of playing this game and drinking surge, I could never beat it..... Nice to finally see the ending!!
LOVE this game! Quick tip: If you ever use the game genie to make yourself invincible, don't fall in the lava. You'll stay there forever since you can't move or die. XD

Way to go Donnie! If you will it, it is no dream.

i logged more hours into this game then any other during my childhood and just could NOT beat it
question: the one at 1:34 its slash?
nah, it's Mecha-Leonardo (I think)
bring back little kid memories loved this game
TMNT were my favorite thing as a kid. I remember playing this game and being frustrated as hell because I could not get any farther than the level after saving the dam (the disarming the bomb part was total BS). I'm glad im not the only one that had trouble with this game.

no way, your mum beat the game first? thats super. she deserves that respect.

Man, I've had this game for longer than I remember. I never even got much passed the water dam level till I was in high school! I only beat the game once, about a year or so ago.
I remember as a kid we all called the boss of level 3 "The Blue Turtle".
As you wish. Give me a few days to prepare another Boss Rush, no cheese or sub weapons. I'm going to switch Turtles if I need to, however.
I like that they used the original look for shredder from the original comics. No other game has ever done that.
love the boss theme and its for this game why my fav turtle is Don
Shredder's easy final battle is like an apology for the REALLY frustrating section of the technodrome filled with those stupid astronauts.
i have always really liked this game but could never really get too far. im glad you can do such an awesome job! lol. You may want to watch some of the videos from The Game Chasers on their channel captain8bit , they go out to find alllll kinds of retro games & systems and are hilarious!
me 2 ... extreme addiction for me during my childhood lol - gd times!
That giant mouser brings back so many memories.
I remember the swimming level in this game. Good god it was hell on me as a child.
Damn the Shredder really wanted to stand on that platform...
This is the first game I played that I really wanted to beat but never could. Its pretty freaking hard when you're like 8 years old. I didn't know until years later that people say its one of the hardest "kids" games they have ever played lol.
I really liked how that "fake Leo" couldn't even touch you.
LOL, my sentiments exactly - splinter returning to human form is a twist ending!
i remember having this game and playing it, but i would always jump when everyone turned to fire and would start feeling weird and couldnt play it afterwards
Evidently not. He was a human in the 80s cartoon too.
One of the few games I couldn't complete in when I was younger... ALWAYS lost to the 5th major boss fight. Never got past it.
love how glitchy and slow the Technodrome fight gets because of all the limitations of NES with all the stuff on the screen.
Come on, Rocksteady jump sequence isn't that hard to get :p
dam im playin it now and cant beat that under water stage!!! still love it!!
This game is hard as shit without Donatello.
I loved this game when I was a child. It's much better than TMNT 2 on Nes.
I was only able to get as far as the technodrome because getting to the technodrome is only half the battle. The bad guys in that level take out your 2 blocks of health in one hit.
When this game came out back in the 80's, I found it too hard! I always used the game genie!

Somehow the "Let's celebrate with a pizza" line reminds me of the ending of Bad Dudes.
I agree. And wasn't the Technodrome a hell of a lot bigger in the cartoon? According to its Wikipedia article, it had "972 rooms", among other things.
I found it really difficult too, but get this... MY MUM BEAT THE GAME BEFORE ME! lol. She loved it and became addicted. She played for hours a day until she beat it. God, I respected her when she did that!
Apparently, there's two stories to Splinter. One side says he is a human turned half rat, the other says he is a rat turned half human.
The big wavy daggers was the key to beat the technodrome and shredder
me, it didnt matter which turtle i had....just as long as i had 99 scrolls for don and at least 20 for another turtle, this game flew by!! playin this easter out of tradition!!
have to agree with you regarding Turtles on the NES being so underrated, this game was awesome.

What?
Your droids. They'll have to wait outside. We don't want them here.
Why don't you wait outside by the speeder, C3? We don't want any trouble.
I hotly agree with you, sir.
I remember defeating the tectrodome and the game was over did tgey updated it
I'm assuming Slash is the Turtle u fight 2 save Splinter on the rooftop? LOL Plus I like how Splinter turns back n2 a human only to be a rat again n the other games. I usually stock u on scrolls and tri-ninja stars b4 I even set foot near the technodrones' level.
gotta love the classic slow motion lol
Is it possible to defeat any of these bosses without using Donatello? (minus Shredder)
Mecaturtle... I can still remember from the instruction manual (which I haven't read for about 15-20 years) that it was some kind of mechanical turtle with sword blades instead of hands... Funny how I remember more recent, useful information so much less well.
add to list when walking on side scroll stages sometimes random enimies pop out of no where.
