I can tell you that you will love this little but versatile machine with every use. The tiller is the machine for flower beds and small spaces. I love it.

Yes it's great for a already tiled weed free garden. Othervis, weeds and roots wrap around the tines and keeps cutting off. In this Video you have the right soil for it.

In the garden you had the tines in the cultivate position. Remove and reverse them for the tiller function. It is much more aggressive machine with the times in that position. It is mentioned in the instruction manual and most advertisements. I have a 2011 2-stroke Mantis

I bought one knowing full well that it only tills the soil. It is definitely not a rotorvator. On my allotment the heavy soil needs turning over first & the Mantis will then create an otherwise unachievable fine tilth. As long as you are aware of

I have an old one with a two-troke engine. Having trouble with it, I sent it to them for service & it came back running like new. But now, being almost 80 even this is getting a bit of a handful, so have bought an Ego of a similar type. I don't think it will be as good but good enough, and I have a lot of Ego stuff. The Mantis is a little marvel and is for sale.

Looks like way too much vibration to use as a scarifier. Just use it as a tiller because that what it is.

Can confirm these do nothing in clay😂 well, at least the +25yo one in our family

In my experience mantis tillers are basically a toy. We often get people bringing them in at this time of year as they won’t run as they’ve left fuel in them that has gone stale and blocked the carb. My advice is buy a proper tiller, and file the mantis under B for bin. 😅

Yeah people love leaving fuel in stuff like this to go stale. Sell them Aspen and you wont see them as much 👍🏼

Wrong! First, I never leave fuel in anything. Second, my Mantis is work horse. Last summer I needed to dig a deep trench around my home in order to divert water from my gutter system. It saved me many days of work and $$$$ if I’d paid a contractor.

    What a piece of Crap!
Howard Gem!! That's a rotavator! Although if you hit something big and hard, you'll find yourself pile driving head first into the soil ahead of the machine 😅

    • @MachineryNation

Yeah the Howard Gem was a great filler in its day, and still is if you can find one. Was not so nice to move around though haha
