@@choirboyzcutleryoutdoors I just ordered a set of scales for Carrol Custom For one of my Buckaroos Ofcorse I used your discount. Thanks. I am looking forward to checking his scales out.
Got my KA-BAR X ESTWING set a couple of weeks ago. Exposed full tang USMC blade with a 19oz claw hammer. I also have what is essentially a magnacut BK16 (BK76) on the way. KA-BAR was good enough to arrange UK shipping for me on both blades. Great blades from what is in my experience a great company.
The standard KaBar was my first "big" fixed blade. My Dad bought it for my birthday at a gun show so many years ago. Still a fan. The Big Brother is my absolute #1.
Very nice collection of Kbars! What's not to love about an American company that makes a great product? The stick tang doesn't bother me at all. The primary function of a knife is to cut, imagine that! I just will not use that one as the sole tool to construct a log cabin 😂
Iconic American Blades Scab. I like the look of the BK9 and the $48 machete blade. I have never owned a KBar or Becker. I understand they (KBar) were quite an expensive knife to produce in WWII as there is a relatively high amount of metal in the blade? I understand the Army went to the M3 purely as it was cheaper to produce as had less metal. A very interesting video thanks Scab 🇺🇸 🇳🇿
Love Kabar. Scab check out the EK Commando line from Kabar. Just got my model 4 in recently. John Ek started a knife company in Connecticut because he wasn't available for WW2 due to an injury. He was very patriotic and wanted to due his part and being a machinist that was the route he took. It's a good story. Kabar eventually purchased the company and continue to build his commando line knives
My favorite Kabar blade is hands down the Kukri Machete. Actually, other than a small (old) folder that is my only Kabar blade. Liked it so much got two.
@choirboyzcutleryoutdoors highly recommended. My original is 1085 and at some point they were SK5 (same basic steel but better quality). I have split a ton of wood with it with zero issues and it was my go to blade even after I started using Nepalese made khukuri for a long time.
Would love to see you do the harsey fighter, made by ka bar and spartan blades. Seems like a good alternative to people looking for a full tang combat type knife. And i would love to see it compared to the difensa and the ka bar fighting knife
Brother I get me a non-costic paint stripper from home Depot or Lowe's something like that typically in a spray can. I remove the scales hang it up spray it down and leave it. I didn't get a scrubbing sponge or sandpaper sponge once I have rinsed it off and go over it thoroughly and then repeat as many times as necessary. Now after you do that you want to put some kind of Blade paste or patina on the blade. Also you may have to touch up the edge a little bit but it is not hard to get that coating
I love them old marine kabars, I had a guard marked one from the 40s at one point. I don't like their plastic sheaths though, not sure about now but back in the day they would dull the shit out of the blade. And if you can get a Camillus bk series in the old Sharon steel 0176 I think it is, very tough
Before ka-bar it was called the union knife company. A fur trapper wrote the company. One of their knives had saved his life and he killed a Kodiak bear with it. Which is why they actually named it kabar or kill a bear. Years ago, bear was pronounced barr .
What the hell brother you almost gone 💪🤝 thats a awesome mind work and hard to, keep it up and you will become a viking soon 😂 you move like a cat now 😄 best love from the danish viking ❤️🇩🇰

What are your thoughts on Magnacut in terms of retention and re sharpening? Keep up the awesome and honest reviews!
Scab, what's your preferred method of coating stripping? Thanks. (I'm especially interested in hearing which solvent or brand you use)
