I believe it was called becoming x or maybe that was the name of a song on one of the tracks. But I do remember going to a Towers music and picking it up.
How Do was a great rendition of a song that is incredibly difficult to cover. The original (called Willow's Song) is just so bizarre. The original has phenomenal guitar work too
Trip-hop has been my go-to since I first heard it. Massive Attach. Portishead, Sneaker Pimps, Zero 7, Hooverphonic, Tricky and his amazing Maxinquaye , Morcheeba, Bonobo, Thievery Corp, several others. And you can get me to listen to just about anything with Martina Topley-Bird singing. I'd throw some of The Cardigans in there with their trip-hop-ish Erase/Rewind and a few others.
My song and video. Kelli Alli is just kick ass! I still be rocking this track. I love when she says "don't think cause I understand I care, don't think cause we're talking were friends." That's some real sheesh.
It's lovely to see some trip hop on a channel I would usually associate with metal/rock! Good music is good music no matter the genre though and 6 Underground is a classic.
I'm shook right now cause I remember playing this whole album on repeat yet somehow I never saw the video! What a throwback. *Wanders off to watch your spin spin sugar react*
I remember this song very clearly when it came out. I was in my late 20's and living in Las Vegas at the time and it was played a lot on one of the stations I listened to in Vegas. It's cemented in my head with that period of my life. Music is such a powerful medium that hearing something from the past has the ability to instantly transport us to that very period of our lives with amazing clarity.
I remember seeing an interview of the group back in the day when this song was first released. The writer of the lyrics said that the term "falling from grace" was a metaphor for having sex for the first time, and how for a female it's almost seen as if she is no longer pure, therefore falling from grace.
Man this song brings memories back chillin with my Irish friends hanging out beer, doing lines, long discussions and I like both versions of it. Can help but wanna get up and FKING BOOGIE MAN.!
its cool to see you doing different genres in the old school. Love trip hop and extreme/progressive metal and 2000's hip hop. keep om keepin on, love the content.
I was a metal/grunge/alt-rock listener in the '90s, but there were an unusually high number of pop music radio songs in the late '90s which were damn catchy, and I enjoyed hearing. This was one, but not at the top. Some of the other mellow eccentricities? Folk Implosion - Natural One Portishead - Sour Times Fiona Apple - Shadowboxer Poe - Hello & Angry Johnny & Trigger Happy Jack Luscious Jackson - Under Your Skin & Naked Eye PJ Harvey - Down By The Water Mazzy Star - Face Into You There were some more, but now that I look back I realize it is more than expected. Good stuff!
When I was young, this song played on MTV all the time. I was young, and ignorant, and trying to find my identity, so I didn’t want to listen to anything hip-hop. This song was hard not to like though.
Interesting Factoid..... at the 3:52 Mark, that is Laura Prepon. Of That 70's Show. She was over in England trying to get a modeling gig at like 16 or 17 and the producers of this video saw her and brought her in.
So without any help and by pure coincidence, I figured out where that harp sample was taken from: That scene in 007 - Goldfinger, when Sean Connery finds the dead girl all covered in gold. Watch and listen when Bond reaches the side of the bed and sits down. ruclips.net/video/HtF5ksQKdBk/видео.html In 1999/2000, I was so obsessed with 6 Underground that I had a friend cut the pieces without singing of the track and arrange it into a new one for me. I used it as the background track for a German rap song and performed it during my final (Jazz) singing exam concert at the Amsterdam conservatory in 2001. I owe a lot to the Sneaker Pimps!!
You should watch some Portishead - Sour Times ruclips.net/video/g7gutsi1uT4/видео.html the name Portishead always makes me think of The Popellerheads - History Repeating
nope. theyre british. six underground is a reference to a train/subway. The song explains that this is ride home with a random partner after drinking one night. no death reference.
Read somewhere years ago that this song is about growing up in a small town where nothing ever happens. You're already 6 underground every day of your life.
@@TheAdventuresofTNT That was going to be my line lol And yeah, Portishead are incredible and a good place to start, you also have Massive Attack, Tricky, Lamb, Morcheeba, Moloko, Goldfrapp, Ms John Soda, Frou Frou, Hooverphonics. Almost all female led with laid back electronic beats.
Have your wife do the band Morcheeba, By The Sea live in Berlin 2018. Great band, I classify them close to Sneaker Pimps, but Morcheeba is a little groovier.
Notice she has her canines filed down? I met that from the first time I saw this back in the day but I just noticed for the first time that she's sitting in a dentist's chair in the video.
Do you remember when this song came out? What were you doing? Please share down below in the comment section.
I was running amok in my late teens. Love this group. Still got the CD that I bought circa 97😚👍
I believe it was called becoming x or maybe that was the name of a song on one of the tracks. But I do remember going to a Towers music and picking it up.
I was asking my lady if she has heard anything good lately...
@@TheAdventuresofTNT just went and dug out the CD. Yep Becoming X. Introduced my teen daughter to it, she loved it too. Feeling old much😂
Working at my first job, brought the album as soon as it came out
That entire album Becoming X was perfect, there isn't a bad song on it. Spin spin sugar and Tesko Suicide were two other really good songs they did.
Yep...a classic and I too love Tesko Suicide. Also, Spin Spin Sugar's remix was a club classic for years.
Wasted Sunday Morning is pretty good too.
How Do was a great rendition of a song that is incredibly difficult to cover. The original (called Willow's Song) is just so bizarre. The original has phenomenal guitar work too
this is one of my favorite songs ever ..super chill ..I was actually listening to this song earlier today
Oh wow! What a coincidence. And you're right, this song is super chill and relaxing!
When this song came out I went to pacific sun wear and bought some big ass JNCOS to prepare for my first rave!
The song is morbidly seductive and cool ... love it 😍
Being an old 44yo now, this brings me back to my late teens!!

It's about time there was a reaction to this!!
Being a metalhead...this song is one of my guilty pleasures...enjoy!!
Yea, this song is very and relaxing. Makes me miss the 90s
