Thank you, Pastor Keith. Once again, you have shone a light on truth. I personally have never understood the attraction of replacement theology. I love the Jewish people and I pray for their salvation. And we see that, in the end, God doesn't abandon them. They were his first love.

I have heard the idea that Martin Luther's turn on the Jews was a function of reading the Talmud. I cant site the source for this, but I have been strongly influenced of late (but not 100% in agreement) by Israeli News Live that does a lot of investigation into the Talmud and especially the Noahide laws, something I think everyone should know about in these crazy days, noting that I am guilty of not directly reading either. Podcasts can be a lazy way of acquiring information.
So let me add my thanks to those that appreciate your hard work, Pastor, in your own actual study of the original works, as well as your successful willingness to let God use you in wonderful ways in your preaching.

How people can see the nation of Israel born in one day (just as the scriptures fortold), even though it had not existed for 2000 years, and not see the hand of God is beyond me! How they can see the resurrection of a dead language just as was fortold in the scriptures, and not recognise God's purpose and plan, defies logic and reason. I just don't understand replacement theology. 😕

Hi Pastor Keith! Thank you so much for your teaching and all the information and insights you have provided, clearing things up for people and speaking bravely on this topic! However I do have a question why would it be idolatry to go to the Jewish roots, observe and do, as much as in our abilities what Yeshua, the disciples and the apostles, as Torah-observant Jews observed, like the Shabbat, the Feasts or eating kosher, just to name a few? As this is a very strong accusation, I would like to hear from you please 🙏

    • @LimerickCityChurch
      @LimerickCityChurch  6 месяцев назад +2

      Thank you sister.
I have not called going back to Jewish roots idolatry but I just think it is mistaken. They take this from Rom.11, but the roots are Jesus. Actually the Jews will go back to their Jesus roots. I have no problem going back researching, studying, or learning. But the feasts of Israel are not to be practised by the church. The Passover was fulfilled in Christ on the Cross. He is our Passover. Pentecost was fulfilled and is still happening etc. Imagine practising the shadow after the real substance comes. Yes of course we can learn from the feast, teach on it, even see it done to learn. But to keep it as a part of our worship, No. We see in Acts 15, and from Paul's letters that distinctive Jewish teachings were not forced on the Gentile churches. We see clearly in the NT that Jews Christians trying to bring Gentile Christians who had accepted Christ into Jewish practise was utterly rejected time and again.

    • @kristiandochev6087
      @kristiandochev6087 6 месяцев назад +1

Thank you Pastor Keith for your quick response!
With all due respect, but I have a further question though, if the Feasts of the Lord are His set apart, appointed times with us on His calendar, why are we not to observe them as He commanded us, but we choose to do Christmas and Easter instead, regardless that is no where in the Bible? As you have already mentioned Passover, in Exodus we read that is forever:
And this day shall be unto you for a memorial; and ye shall keep it a feast to the Lord throughout your generations; ye shall keep it a feast by an ordinance for ever.
      Exodus 12:14
Then we see Paul himself in Acts keeping the Feasts:
But bade them farewell, saying, I must by all means keep this feast that cometh in Jerusalem: but I will return again unto you, if God will. And he sailed from Ephesus.
      Acts 18:21
For Paul had determined to sail by Ephesus, because he would not spend the time in Asia: for he hasted, if it were possible for him, to be at Jerusalem the day of Pentecost.
      Acts 20:16
What’s more he was preaching on the Sabbath, and the Gentiles were coming in too:
And he reasoned in the synagogue every sabbath, and persuaded the Jews and the Greeks.
      Acts 18:4
In chapter 15 we see the minimum requirements for the Gentiles to come in, but this is the start of the process.
As you beautifully explain how Godly man with heart for God can make a slight change and over time this will build a doctrine, I ask you Pastor, again this is to say with all due respect, but please open your heart and see for yourself. God bless you sir 🙏

@@kristiandochev6087 Yes its eternal in the same sense of the priesthood being eternal (Ex.40:15; Ex.29:9; Num.25:13), and I am sure you know, understand, believe, and agree that the Levitical priesthood finished, does not come into the church, but we are all priests now, etc. Eternal, was used of the Levitical priesthood in the sense of being unchanging or binding for Israel. These feasts were not commanded to US to keep, they were given to ISRAEL. And of course for example you will know that to keep Passover as a Jewish feast unchanged as taught to Israel you will need to sacrifice a lamb. Would you be willing to do that? If not then you are not keeping it as prescribed by Moses.
Yes the apostles are recorded in these chapters keeping or attending feasts in JERUSALEM (but nowhere else), but nowhere do THEY prescribe these for the church. In fact the opposite. You do not see the members of the Gentile churches making three annual journeys to Jerusalem. The conclusion of the Acts 15 counsel was not a BEGINNING, it was a fait accompli. It wasnt the minimum requirements but the maximum from a Jewish perspective.
Acts 15:28-29, "For it seemed good to the Holy Ghost, and to us, to lay upon you NO greater burden than these NECESSARY things; that ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication: from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well. Fare ye well." The word "greater" means no more in number, beyond this, added to it. Those who had gone to the Gentiles commanding circumcision and the keeping of the law were rebuked by this council.
Neither do you have one example of a Gentile church keeping or practising any feast. The breaking of bread instituted at the last supper was taken AFTER the Passover meal and instituted and commanded for the church in place of it and we are told to do it often. By the way I agree about Christmas and Easter, thats why I keep neither because its neither taught or practised by the church in the NT.
These are just a few thoughts of the top of my head. If I stopped and gave more thought I could give much more and if I did a study or taught on it you would see its overwhelming. Hope this helps a little.

@@LimerickCityChurch Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord:
And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.
And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:
      Deuteronomy 6:4-6
For I am the Lord, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.
      Malachi 3:6
They didn’t have to say anything, because this was obvious and accepted as it was normal in a Torah observant community, so it made a complete sense to whoever wants to be “grafted in” (hence the requirements to be brought in) that they observe the Sabbath and the Feasts as well. If everyone were to observe these dates, imagine how out of hand would be the Gentiles who are grafted in to not honour them?
Then we see consenting the feasts again in Deuteronomy that they are for everyone who is in, not just the Levites:
And thou shalt keep the feast of weeks unto the Lord thy God with a tribute of a freewill offering of thine hand, which thou shalt give unto the Lord thy God, according as the Lord thy God hath blessed thee:
And thou shalt rejoice before the Lord thy God, thou, and thy son, and thy daughter, and thy manservant, and thy maidservant, and the Levite that is within thy gates, and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, that are among you, in the place which the Lord thy God hath chosen to place his name there.
And thou shalt remember that thou wast a bondman in Egypt: and thou shalt observe and do these statutes.
Thou shalt observe the feast of tabernacles seven days, after that thou hast gathered in thy corn and thy wine:
And thou shalt rejoice in thy feast, thou, and thy son, and thy daughter, and thy manservant, and thy maidservant, and the Levite, the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, that are within thy gates.
      Deuteronomy 16:10-14
Also we read how Yeshua Himself was going to the feasts and also going to read from Scripture on the Sabbath day, as His customs was, and as you probably know there is an appointed Scripture for every Sabbath day where the Torah and the prophets are read, so He reads the one for this particular day and I don’t think (or at least hope) anyone here believes in coincidences:
And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.
And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.
And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.
      Luke 4:16-21
So we see how powerful and prophetic these times are, as they are set by God Himself. My argument is not for you or anyone else keeping them, but why rejecting them and saying is a form of idolatry?
Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.
      Colossians 2:16-17
If we are to walk with Him and He is our Shepherd are we not to do as His was doing and telling us to do? We read Yeshua’s own words:
He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.
      John 14:21
We know that God never changes:
For I am the Lord, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.
      Malachi 3:6
And He didn’t come to abolish the law, but to fulfil it, make it full and complete:
Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
      Matthew 5:17-19
As much as the sacrificial lamb on Passover and the blood on the doorpost, Yeshua is our Sacrificial Lamb, yes, He fulfilled the Passover by His sacrifice, but this needs to make us wanting to celebrate the feast even more with a greater joy, in remembrance and as a reminder for we were once slaves in Egypt and living in darkness.
Now as the Sabbath is the first and holiest holiday given and commanded to us to observe as the 4th Commandment, to spent time with God and rest in Him, remember His creation and what He does for us, I think is up to us to choose to obey or not.
And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.
      Genesis 2:3
Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
      Exodus 20:8-11
Thus saith the Lord, Keep ye judgment, and do justice: for my salvation is near to come, and my righteousness to be revealed.
Blessed is the man that doeth this, and the son of man that layeth hold on it; that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and keepeth his hand from doing any evil.
Neither let the son of the stranger, that hath joined himself to the Lord, speak, saying, The Lord hath utterly separated me from his people: neither let the eunuch say, Behold, I am a dry tree.
      For thus saith the Lord unto the eunuchs that keep my sabbaths, and choose the things that please me, and take hold of my covenant;
Even unto them will I give in mine house and within my walls a place and a name better than of sons and of daughters: I will give them an everlasting name, that shall not be cut off.
      Also the sons of the stranger, that join themselves to the Lord, to serve him, and to love the name of the Lord, to be his servants, every one that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and taketh hold of my covenant;
Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer: their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted upon mine altar; for mine house shall be called an house of prayer for all people.
The Lord God, which gathereth the outcasts of Israel saith, Yet will I gather others to him, beside those that are gathered unto him.
      Isaiah 56:1-8
And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath:
Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.
      Mark 2:27-28
As much as why I refer to Him as Yeshua, because this is His actual name, not because makes me more “spiritual” or anything, and I don’t mind anyone saying Jesus, as I do as well. If you come to my country for example and I call you with a Bulgarian equivalent of your name, it still be you, but not your actual name.
And lastly to finish with that, as we very sadly we see what happens almost two decades after with Constantine in 321 AD:
"On the venerable day of the Sun [Sunday] let the magistrates and people residing in cities rest, and let all workshops be closed"
And in the Council of Leodecea in 364 AD:
Canon 29. Christians must not judaize by resting on the Sabbath, but must work on that day, rather honouring the Lord's Day; and, if they can, resting then as Christians. But if any shall be found to be judaizers, let them be anathema from Christ.
This is so so sad and we see how anti-Semitic the church got and has done all these unacceptable things, which is absolutely NOT good at all and so heart breaking!!
Furthermore how are we to provoke anyone to jealousy, especially when one is following man-made traditions??

I would very much differ from him and disagree with him. He seems a nice guy, sincere, with a heart for God, and a gifted speaker who is persuasive in style; but I find his interpretation of scripture really off. Following the interpretations of men who remove Christs coming from Matthew 24 is an example. Did you listen to this message on RT, or the one before? I think Baldwin's interpretations of portions of scripture are paper thin and do not stand up to scrutiny at all.

I was strongly influenced by dispensationalism (Hal Lindsay, Walwoord others), and have recently been exposed to preterism, and I think there are some excellent arguments for it (Kenneth Gentry). I certainly had a hard time getting past "this generation shall not pass" and "behold, I am coming soon", and I believe preterism shows much accuracy in Jesus early predictions: they shall deliver you to the synagogues, destruction of the temple, get out of Jerusalem when you see it surrounded by armies. But if you waited for the desolation of abomination in the temple (Roman occupation of the temple mount) in those days, you wouldn't get out. Just amateur speculation that does bring me back to the idea of a futurist view of Revelation, especially in it's ability to nail down present day events that did not happen in the first century.
So yeah, I'm willing to consider partial preterism.

    • @LimerickCityChurch

@@tmthy2137 Thank you for sharing. You are hitting and dealing with just one point of why preterism is not tenable or to be accepted. It seems most of them deny that the second coming is dealt with in the chapter and depict Christ coming in the clouds to judge Jerusalem in 70 AD rather than in His second Coming, which utterly minimises the actual prophecies given.

Have you actually read historists on Revelation? They go into long suppositions trying to find historic events and timescales in the visions. They mostly disagree among themselves because there is no way to prove or be certain on such theories. Many of the ideas they propose are interesting but by this means you can give a hundred different things for the one symbol but you cannot accurately prove nothing. You have the teaching then you chose things from history to fit, but for me its totally unconvincing. Futurism gives exact details to be fulfilled in a set order, by a set person or institution, and a timescale. Its testable and provable. e.g. a mark on right hand and forehead used for buying and selling, brought in by a political system, attached to religious worship centred in Jerusalem. You can not make that a 100 different things. It will only happen uniquely one in history.

Thank you for this message, Keith... Regarding the concept of Replacement Theology there are really two distinctly separate issues:
    1) Did the new testament ekklesia replace the old testament ekklesia?
    2) Is the nation of Israel elect and restored to God at the return of the Son of man as King?
The brick wall that most dispensationalists run into, leading to unnecessary confusion and division, is the denial that the new testament ekklesia replaced the old testament ekklesia [Note: ekklesia, the Greek New Testament word for "church," or more precisely, "assembly," "gathering," or "congregation," is used 60 times in 56 verses of the old testament (LXX), starting with Deuteronomy 4:10; ekklesia is found 114 times in 111 verses of the Greek New Testament].
Our Lord Jesus states this truth in the gospel of Matthew...
Matthew 21:43-44 "Therefore I tell you, the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people producing its fruits. And the one who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces; and when it falls on anyone, it will crush him."
Let me share some commentary with you (Note: I don't agree with everything the commentators state)...
"shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof-that is, the great evangelical community of the faithful, which, after the extrusion of the Jewish nation, would consist chiefly of Gentiles, until “all Israel should be saved” (Ro 11:25, 26). This vastly important statement is given by Matthew only." >>> Jamieson, R., Fausset, A. R., & Brown, D. (1997). Commentary Critical and Explanatory on the Whole Bible (Vol. 2, p. 53).
"Our Lord tells them plainly, that God was removing his church from them to the Gentiles, which he calleth a people that should bring forth the fruits thereof." >>> Poole, Matthew (1853). Annotations upon the Holy Bible (Vol. 3, p. 102). Robert Carter and Brothers.
"The words foreshadow the appearance of the Christian church." >>> Morris, L. (1992). The Gospel according to Matthew (p. 544). W.B. Eerdmans; Inter-Varsity Press.
Here is a brief clip from Michael Heiser: ruclips.net/user/clipUgkxUS6ezb-eex5a9ReaMrRr7O4yMtvfmiVu
I want to address the language brother Heiser uses >>> "I think the church has replaced Israel."
I believe it would have been helpful if he would have stated, "I believe Christians replaced the nation of Israel as the church of God in the new testament," or, "I believe the new testament church replaced the old testament church in God's economy," or something to that effect.
You could also say the new testament ekklesia is a continuation of the ekklesia of God.
The eschatological revelation is multi-layered; we have to qualify Biblical truth with additional Biblical truths in order to gain understanding and see the big picture. It can be very, very difficult to articulate, and that is to the glory of God (Proverbs 25:2).
Where covenantalists are dangerously errant is in regard to Israel; some even state that the church is Israel (the truth is, I believe, the saints, all the saints in salvation history, and not the church, are the Israel of God).
Scripture bears out a dual fulfillment of the promises to Abraham through the Seed.
The fulfillment to the natural descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, is a fulfillment to a remnant of regenerated Jews/Israelites (Zechariah 12:10-14) who cry out, "Baruch haba b'shem Adonai."
Matthew 23:39 "For I tell you, you will not see me again, until you say, 'Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.'"
These natural descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob will be saved when the Deliverer comes from Zion...
Romans 11:26-27 "And in this way all Israel will be saved, as it is written, 'The Deliverer will come from Zion, he will banish ungodliness from Jacob;' 27 'and this will be my covenant with them when I take away their sins.'"
This group is prophesied in Zechariah 13...
Zechariah 13:8-9 "And in all the land, declares the LORD, two-thirds will be cut off and perish, but a third will be left in it. 9 This third I will bring through the fire; I will refine them like silver and test them like gold. They will call on My name, and I will answer them. I will say, ‘They are My people,’ and they will say, ‘The LORD is our God.’ ”
This group is the fulfillment of the prophecy in Ezekiel 36...
Ezekiel 36:24-29 "I will take you from the nations and gather you from all the countries and bring you into your own land. 25 I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean from all your uncleannesses, and from all your idols I will cleanse you. 26 And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. 27 And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to obey my rules. 28 You shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers, and you shall be my people, and I will be your God. 29 And I will deliver you from all your uncleannesses. And I will summon the grain and make it abundant and lay no famine upon you."
This remnant of Jews/Isaelites will be regenerated and enter the Messianic kingdom as mortal men and women in the nation of Israel.
    Jesus is the only way!
    Blessings

      Why impossible?

    • @dmurill
      @dmurill 5 месяцев назад

@@judyswiderski2682 because in Genesis 32:22, is where Jacob's name is changed to Israel. Then he has 12 sons, Rueben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, etc. Jews are from the line of Judah. So physically impossible for Jacob (Israel) to be jew, where judah is his son.

Only you call it replacement theology. The rest of it call it covenant theology. We are grafted in and they will be again too one day. There is only one gospel.

No, not at all. They are not the same at all. There is much I agree with in covenant theology, especially the teachings of the Puritans & Covenanters, but that is very different than Replacement Theology. They are not the same. Did you listen the entire video?
