This is the sound I’ve been hunting for!! Thank you for the video and the responses that provide the replacement part number and basics on how to fix. Sounds a little like a typewriter or sewing machine.
I have an '04 Sienna XLE with automatic temp control. I had the same problem. I removed the lower part of the dash then removed the MODE DOOR ACTUATOR from the drivers side of the HVAC box. Find the white plastic wheel and clean the grooves and reapply WHITE LITHIUM GREASE to the 3 groves. Be VERY careful to put it back together with the correct arm in the correct groove. It took a couple of hours.
If it is on the driver side, it is likely the Air Mix Servo - Driver Side, Toyota part 87106-08070. Mine went bad and it sounded just like yours. It is an easy replacement, though a little awkward because it is behind the center stack. Access it from the driver's side foot well. You should be able to identify it by the sound and seeing part of the white servo arm trying to move. Remove the three screws from the old unit and unplug it, then put in the new one.
It's likely to be the air mixer servo. I had the same sound. You can verify by adjusting the temp. At least in my case, the noise stopped when the temp is at the highest or the lowest. The problem was prominent when the temperature is somewhere in between or ambient temperature when the mixer had to adjust. Found the fix on one of the forum's but can't remember. To fix, just remove the interior panel to the right of the gas pedal - for US car (need to pop out one clip), you should be see and able to get to the unit. There are two units on the driver's side. The problematic one is the bottom one. Remove the wiring harness by unclipping and remove 3 screws and the unit should come off. Order a new part (87106-08070 for driver side). I think the part 87106-08060 for passenger side but haven't had a need to fix it yet. It's relatively an easy fix, just need to contort you body a bit. 😉 Good luck!
@@thor1186 Jack, it's a matter of comfort. If you have the problem I described, it's either going to be really hot or really cold. I think the problem will get progressively worse over time if not repaired.
I fixed it by just unplugging the AC vent servo on the drivers side near the center console. It's been unplugged over 4 months and no longer have that sound, AC still works great!
blend door actuator motor....either replace it or clean out the gunk inside the motor theres like residue or metallic shavings or something u have to wipe out theres videos about it... if it's under the glove box then that's it
I have the sound sound in my 2005 Sienna XLE. It happens with the automatic climate control ON or OFF and engine ON or OFF. What is it and how do I fix it?
i have this same problem with my Toyota RAUM ... I checked the dash and there is a black box in there, kinda looks like a relay thats not having enough current to hold the contact in place

Do you have a picture of this part and where it's located? I believe it's on the drivers side about knee high lower part of the dash?

Same sound for 2005 Sienna. Doesn't happen all the time, but sometimes.

It sounds like a failed mode-door or one of two blend-doors. Completely shut-off the A/C to verify.
Climate control servo motor problem - I do have the same problem for my 2004 Sienna.
Will it relieve the check engine light
