    Geddy is an intelligent, down to earth, humble person. He never let fame change his persona, and is a genuine great guy. He realizes his god given talent is a blessing, and we are blessed he chose to share that with all of us. Geddy, we love you and feel terrible about the loss of Neil, as you were closer to him than any of us can imagine. Thinking about you and Alex as your lives have changed, and 1/3 of the trio is now missing. I thank you for sharing so many years of absolutely amazing talent, songwriting, and totally mindblowing entertainment. All the best of thoughts go out to you, Alex, and all of your families and friends. A genuine, heartfelt thank you for all that you do and have done to enrich our lives. Stay safe, and it is so great to hear what a great dad you are! Fame has no bearing on that, and it sure seems like you value your son, and your family. Blessings and well wishes from a very long-term fan.

    When I worked at Trace Elliot I got to hand build two Quatra Valve amps for Geddy. Whilst I’m a drummer, (not a bass player) it was one of my proudest moments to make him two amp heads which he used for years. Good to see him in this video!

      @k halliday that reminds me... on the Rio documentary there was a part where Alex is talking about how he had problems with "psoriasis" and how he needs to warm up his joints in order to feel ready to go...
      I figured he was tslking about arthritis. Knowing Alex, he probably said psoriasis deliberately just to who all would notice

    OK, things are starting to fall into place in my mind. Tim Starace works at Tech21, and is also the bass player in the Rush cover band YYNOT. Tech21 is a music equipment maker that has has Geddy Lee's endorsements on some of their bass products. So there is a connection there. I have watched YYNOT videos on RUclips, and they do great Rush covers, and also, their original music is quite good.

    Sansamp Bassdriver IS my sound, and I had the best bass sound, from what I’ve been told, at Malta’s ‘Shellshock’ metal fest... I have the best sound at EVERY gig I do... each time, no worries. I’ve used a sansamp, in some form, near constantly since 2004. I also entrust my ever faithful Landmark 300w head and Tech21 cabs, the Neo fitted 1x15 has been a complete workhorse since 07... I had a 4x10 since 05, but the Neo loaded is easier for pub/club/funcs gigs. If I ever play NYC, I WILL find you guys out (possibly playing North America in 2022...). I know you are not a massive operation, but I’d love to see your offices. Thankyou Mr Barta and co.... Thankyou Tech21. Your products have paid so many bills.

    I have the YYZ pedal. I use the Q-Strip so I can send the bass signal to the YYZ pedal via the thru port on the Q-Strip. The YYZ pedal signal goes to one channel and then the bass signal DI’d but EQ’d from the Q-Strip to another channel. I know the pedal has the raw and distorted mix knob but this still works better for recording. For recording. Either way two Tech-21 pedals.

    I used to use a Tech 21 Bass Driver, which was great, and I still have an old Sansamp rack mount from back in the 1990s, which was good for recording direct guitar and bass parts in my home studio back before I could mic up a loud amp and before amp simulator software really happened.
    But more recently I got Tech 21's dp3x and SH1. Wow! This new Tech 21 stuff is by far the best sounding stuff they've created yet! I don't even mic a bass amp anymore, or run a direct bass track through amp simulator software. I record basses direct through one of these two boxes and it sounds better than any recordings I've gotten before.

    If Tech 21 could clarify, during Tim's demo of the unit he is bi-amped correct? Sending the clean and the dirty channels to each power engine amp? How does the unit work for those of us who don't have two amplifiers? Is there an onboard blend control?

    • @57precision
      @57precision 4 года назад +2

      Tim is playing a Geddy Lee bass signature bass with rounds, through a box designed to condense Geddy's massive live rig into a desktop format, and using the appropriate heavy right-hand attack to get that sound. I don't see how any of that is "cheating", unless you want to buy 2x Avalon U-5s, 2x SansAmp RBIs, 2x Palmer Speaker Simulators, and 2x Orange AD200s.
      If that's the case, then can I have a loan?

    • @TimStarace
      @TimStarace 4 года назад +1

      All Tech 21 products are very intuitive as far as how it "interacts" with your playing style. Usually when I hand my bass to someone else it sounds entirely different, and that's the beauty of all analog...it reacts like a real amp and not a synthetic digital processor.
