There is just no one who can sing and looks like Whitney Houston. She was and is the very definition of a super star. Her lives are better than her studio album. No autotune, just pure talent.
Nobody was gearing up to watch Whitney thinking, "I can't wait to see Whitney dancing"...haters always be hating...I bet if she was around today, SJW would give her grief for by too light skinned as well
With such a voice you don't need stupid dance or moves on the stage to capture the public 😍😍 THAT'S WHAT I LIKE ABOUT HER: SHE STAYS THERE JUST SINGING AND ECHANTING EVERYONE WITHOUT A SINGLE MOVE OR BACKUP DANCERS OR SINGERS, ONLY HER VOICE AND THE ORCHESTRA OR A CAPPELLA
Her song "How Will I know"´s got a very similar vibe to it. Another great 80´s song. Her first hit, I think. Uptempo, fun, very catchy. Isn´t it wonderful seeing all these singers just enjoying themselves, having fun, looking beautiful and being sexy without trying so hard and making it the main focus of their visuals?
Thank god you recognized this song! This is one of those timeless songs that you'll just randomly hear anywhere. You'd have to live in a closet if you've never heard it before lol
@@JackReacts904 this is on my "musak" at PetSmart. Love it. And there's even Prince 1999. Tons of good ones. Also everyone hates the Christmas music but I live in it cuz I'm there's tons of Jackson 5 Christmas songs. And even a James Brown and Tina Turner. Stevie wonder.... This year at Christmas. I be also have random the weekend in it and I always melt for him.
Regarding the high notes comment - Whitney had a massive range in her early career. Not as wide as Mariah’s, but still about four octaves. Around 94 ish she started developing nodes. That combined with the drug usage severely crippled her voice. The fact that she sounded as good as she did at the end of her career was astonishing. You’ll notice in her later songs that she doesn’t belt as nearly as much. She struggled with so many things in her lifetime but she’s such a musical icon regardless.
Jack Reacts when you get time you should google Whitney Houston and crack is wack. Long story short, Bobby Brown was a horrible influence on her. They had a daughter, Bobbi, who died not long after Whitney died. But Bobby Brown is still alive, of course 🙄
@@drewvitale8366 & my point was that she was already on that path. "We have SOMETHING in common" yes, they did. Self destructive behavior. That's why they attracted each other.
Yes this is Whitney’s early era. The 80s as you said. This prior to the Bodyguard era ( Run to You, I’m Every Woman, I will always love you, etc) which is her biggest and most successful era that really sky rocketed her into fame. You REALLY should do that whole Bodyground soundtrack like you’ve mentioned because that is truly Whitney’s strongest and most prominent era! It solidified her as a true vocal legend.
Yess back to the 80s. I'm an 80s baby. Whitney has always been great. Who doesn't or didn't love her? RIP to the great Whitney Houston. Can you react to Deborah Cox "Nobody's Supposed to be here"

YESSSSSSS 80s WHITNEY FINALLY!!!! LOL And yes the song is all over the commercials now, what's funny is I didn't grow up hearing this song much, like the Detroit R&B radio I grew up with never played this song, but today SO many commercials use it, it gets sampled and remixed and used & yea man, I knew you'd love it thus why I recommended it. And thank you for commending the video, sad to say later in her career her videos were less creative compared to her videos in the 80s. So That said these following recommendations here are all for 80s Whitney and the 1990 I'm Your Baby TOnight era 1. I'm Your Baby Tonight 2. You Give Good Love 3. How Will I Know 4. The Greatest Love Of All (LIve in Wembly 1988) 5. So Emotional 6. Take Good Care Of My Heart (With Jermaine Jackson) 7. I Am Changing (Live) 8. Didn't We Almost Have It ALL 9. Saving All My Love For You 10. I Belong To You (The Ballads are 2, 4, 7, 8,9 )
If you like upbeat 80's Whitney you should definitely check out 'How Will I Know' and 'So Emotional'. But please don't forget 'The Greatest of All' live!!! ❤
Little funny story about the video, Clive Davis who discovered Whitney was all about keeping her image mature and sophisticated, the original idea for the video intended to be a bit of a departure from that and closer to what she was really about, Clive didn't think it helped the image of her he was trying to project, so he came up with the idea of turning that whole colorful portion of the video into a dream, that's why you see her at the beginning after performing going backstage and that's when the song starts, she was just dreaming :)
Jack Reacts okay now you have to do “Holding Out Fora a Hero” from the Flashdance movie. It’s the song that plays during that part. IMO you should do the Shrek version though.
Actually Whitney has a 5 octave range like Mariah’s but and however she didn’t rely on it. Mariah just made her whistle register her signature to separate and define her as an artist separate from Whitney due to all the comparisons at that particular time via 1989 when Mariah first appeared on the scene. Many artist have that whistle register, Shanice, Chante Moore, Brandy and Janet Jackson on “Love will never do without you” which is why critics come down hard on janet for breathing melodies because she’s a better singer then that. Even her brother Micheal was quoted as having said his sister is the best singer in the family but all and all Whitney certainly knew how to reach those high notes effortlessly without any degree of difficulty. You have to watch some of her live performances. Though we can all agree in the later part of her career situations she inhabited changed that drastically. It’s worth noting that what makes Mariah phenomenal is the fact that she has nodes on her vocal cords which should have made it difficult for her to sing but she progressed nonetheless.
This was written by George Merrill & Shannon Rubicam (husband & wife aka "Boy Meets Girl" with a top 10 hit in 1989 "Waiting For A Star To Fall"). They first wrote another one of Whitney's #1 hits in 1986 ("How Will I Know" - Whitney's first "dance" hit). This was the debut single from the record-breaking second album, "Whitney" (the first female act to debut at #1 on the Billboard Hot 200 Album Chart in 1987). This song debut on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart (week ending May 16th, 1987) at #38 and just six weeks later, it hit #1 and stayed there for 2 consecutive weeks & finishing the year as the 4th best song of the year. 35 years later and play this song at ANY club anywhere in the world and it will still pack the dance floor (even with the pandemic!)
Her live performance of her most iconic song, 'I Will Always Love You' from the '94 World Music Awards, is AMAZING!! Still gives me chills to this day. Love it and I'm sure you will too. One of my favorite live performances from her 👍
As usual, I really enjoyed your reaction to this song. 👍 Still waiting for your reaction to "I'm Your Baby Tonight". I just can't have enough of Whitney.
This is from Whitney's second album "WHITNEY" which was the first album in history by a female artist to debut at #1! and with the singles from this album she became the only artist to have 7 consecutive #1 singles, a record that still stands today!
Yes! 80's Whitney you can't help to just dance once the beat comes in! This was my dance in the mirror with my hairbrush song as a kid lol. You should react to Saving All My Love For You.

Thank you for the reaction Jack! I wanna dance with somebody is a song that just makes you wanna run to the dance floor. Saving all my love for you - Whitney Houston
