- Good shape, nice cable, low weight, top sensor ... the Burst Pro is a candidate for the Top Mice list, but I feel like it's let down by the buttons. Left and right, optical switches, the feel and sound just aren't great for me.
Also the wheel has noticeable steps and is pretty smooth, but feels too hollow? Which might be something to do with weight reduction. I'd prefer they go back to their old wheels and be a little heavier, personally. Those were amazing (Roccat Kone Pure days).
Other than that, everything is pretty much right so it's still a solid choice, but I'll leave it up to you if you like the buttons or not.
Lift off distance is adjustable in software but defaults to under a DVD.

@@geriug6165 This mouse does have the best pads you can get. They're even much better than the pads on the Logitech G Pro. I'm using a HyperX mouse pad and it still feels like new. Did you pull off the blue foil from the pads?😆

I'm actually a fan of the dulled sound, it's right up my alley since I like relatively monotonous/quiet sounds that fade into the background
I like the clicks too, but i own the mouse and let me tell you, these are the loudest switches i've used. Amazing, but can get really annoying for people around you.

Today my mouse finally arrived, and I can say that I absolutely love everything about it.
The sound of the clicks is different, but I expected a terrible sensation as some described there. It feels and sounds different from a traditional click, for example, from my Logitech G203.
They sound and feel different, I don't know how to describe them, but they are not bad, it is just different and it may be a matter of taste in the end.

I love this mouse overall but a warning to anyone who may be interested in buying it: It develops issues with the middle mouse click not registering after about 8-12 months of use. This has happened to two of these mice at around the same time interval. I take really good care of my electronics and am not heavy handed so it seems to be an internal issue of degradation over time.
Same with my logitech g203, loved that mouse, but after around 10 months the middle mouse button developed the same issue and needed much more force to actuate
Now i look for a cheap replacement and i am pretty bummed about reading that this one has similar issues

@@stupidlifelol Yeah, the scroll wheel when you press it down. The scrolling still worked fine but pressing it down as an extra key bind eventually stopped working.
Same thing happened to me with a Razer Viper Mini (went through 3 of those), Logitech G300S and G602. Is there not a single reliable gaming mouse to be found anywhere?

For any Microsft Wheel Mouse Optical (WMO) users who are looking for a modern replacement, this is the closest mouse I've found to the WMO shape. The previous closest was the Steelseries Rival 106, but it had some harder angles on the right of the shell and I wasn't a fan of the glossy plastic.
The Burst Core/Pro shape is slightly shorter than the WMO. The grip width is very slightly wider, and the buttons sit lower, too. If you look at the two mice from the top you'd think they're nothing alike, but flip them over and the telltale flare is there -- the shape is very much a homage, imo. The Burst Core/Pro has a more rounded right-hand side (arguably more comfortable than the WMO) and with more aggressively sloped sides. It's one of those mice that is glued to your hand even when you're warming up. I've got 20x10cm hands and use a grip that's more towards fingertip than anything else, and it lets me grip it almost exactly the way I hold the WMO. I'd have preferred a longer body and narrower grip to match the WMO, but I'm playing really well with the Burst Core, so I'm happy with it.
I bought the Burst Core for £25 and it's cheap enough & good enough for an impulse purchase. I looked at the feature set of the Burst Pro and nothing stands out other than the nicer cable. If you're tempted but not willing to spend £50+ on the Pro, buy the Core.
burst core and burst pro have differents sensors, thats what you are paying for.
@@loen6478 That's a fair comment. On the other hand, I've tried something like 20 mice in the last 5 years, and even the cheapest sensors in big brand mice are perfect for gaming -- I honestly doubt the more expensive sensor in the burst pro will be remotely noticeable in terms of perf.
This aligns with all mouse review videos I've seen in the last 5 years or so (including RJN) where you pretty much never see negative acceleration, skipping or tilt-slam during sensor tests.
IMO the biggest differences in sensors now are qualitative -- things like lift-off distances and 'feel', and those don't always mean expensive is better.
@@defragsbin in this case yes it is noticeable, but it also depends on sensitive you are to it, if you casually play games its not something you would notice for sure.
@@loen6478 I strongly doubt it's noticeable unless there's some qualitative difference like lift-off distance. Like I said, there's barely been a noticeable difference between cheap & top sensors for the last 5 years because the base level of performance is borderline flawless.
E.g. here's a review from Zy of the G Pro (wired) vs the G203 from 2017 that Zy did -- a budget vs. a more expensive mouse from the same company, and he couldn't tell the difference in the sensor performance. ruclips.net/video/V4lqxQL1x4U/видео.html
The mice I've most recently played with are the Roccat Burst Core, Zowie S1, Zowie FK1 and Logitech G Pro Wireless. Sensor-wise they all track flawlessly, and the only difference that's noticeable is LOD.
IMO sensor stuff is now in the realms of audiophiles claiming their £100 gold-plated speaker cables are much better, when they can't actually tell the difference in blind tests.
Roccat make high quality products imo, the general feel and build quality is much better than Razer or many other mainstream mice I think. Hope they keep going and stay successful.
Trying this mouse out right now and it's really comfy, the sides are really grippy without making your hands sweaty and the sensor isn't bad either. I'm still on the fence because I love my mm711.
I just got the mouse and my aim is incredible! Great mouse, a mostly accurate review. But at the end of the day, that's his opinion and everyone has a different one too. But I personally think it's the top 5 best mouse I've ever used. :)

Insane clip btw. Button sound is very personal preference. I got used to it in two days, doesn't bother me at all. A friend LOVES the sound and feel actually. Mouse is top tier and great for medium to large hands

Omg the roccat Kiro...I bought it in 2017 for a birthday and tried it...it was the best feeling mouse I have ever tried and I tried some good mice like the rival 300 and logitech g403. I wanted to buy this mouse so badly but they stopped production of it a while ago...still seeing this mouse being a brother of the Kiro makes me a little bit happpier. I'm writing this so that you know that someone is still remembering the Kiro, it was a great mouse...
I have this mouse and i love almost everything about it. The clicks are not clicks per se, are deeper lower pitched and really muted, something as someone that get's annoyed easily by repetitive sounds it is a blessing. It is smooth and great best mouse i have ever tried.
The only downside i would say is the wheel, a bit stiff, well not stiff but with really tactile feedback feeling that gives the feeling of it being stiff. but no need to put more force to scroll it than any other mouse i have tried so far
Will Roccat ever make a small mouse? Would also love a new light wireless Kinzu with side buttons. That could perhaps be my endgame.

I bought the Core. I didn't see much to justify a 100% markup -- sensor performance is going to be very similar, though the cable on the Pro looks nice. No problem with the Core though -- it works fine in a bungee and the sensor is great. If this becomes my main I may upgrade to the Pro.
The Core is the best value mouse I've bought since the Logitech G203.

Not going to lie, the buttons are the best I've ever felt/heard on a mouse. They feel comparable to the XM1's button to me, which is another favourite of mine.

Hi! I don't know anything about computer mice but I just started using my Roccat Burst and I was feeling weirded out by how stiff the RMB is! Did a little digging and it led me to your video and I'm so glad I don't feel like the only one who is not a fan of the difference between the RMB and LMB. Thanks for this great reference!

I don’t mind the button sound. Pretty solid big mouse which is nice for my giant hands

The buttons sound great. They remind me of my old Redragon M711. Loud and clacky. I’m fine with it though tbh.
The shape is worth it for me. The cable is great. Wheel and side buttons are good. And the main clicks are ok.
burst pro has click latency like the optical vipers, without the added 5 ms when the mouse is lifted (Every single lift) like razer
and here i am with my 8 years old Roccat Savu :) still love this thing (after it outlived several poorly biuld logitechs and served me on 4 PCs now). I'm currently looking into a new one. Glorious moddel D- or the Endgame gear XM1 are my current favourites

Don't like mine the M1 and M2 too much tension to click. Also side buttons sadly mushy. So disappointed in the side buttons it's big and accessible yet it's got too much travel
I've had two copies and have returned both. They develop bottom plate creaking really freaking bad just after 2-3 weeks of regular use. I'm buying a Makalu 67 and giving that a shot instead.

Yeah, this is a super weird criticism. The switches don't sound meaningfully different to any others, in terms of annoyance level. They are a little stiffer than some but I prefer this to the overly soft feel of Razer switches, for instance.

Edit: small update: bought Roccat Burst Core and it is awesome. The clicks are mighty I love them, but the scroll wheel is a mistake when compared to main buttons and I hope they fix that LOD via some update, because it is a joke, it is not like 1 DVD, more like 1 VHS tape, it is that insane.
Shape is top tier, it fits my hand(18,5x9,5cm) nicely, it is different grip than Kain for sure, it digs down into your hand more, whether with Kain it just rests nicely in there. It is awesome for all types of claw, I highly recommend it. The weight and feel of the mouse is great, and coating on Burst Core is this nice plastic with grippy sides, just awesome. The cable is not the best though, kinda regretting I didn't buy the more expensive one, since you can adjust the LOD and cable is better. No issues with the skates tho, they are good enough with nice glide like in my KAIN 102.

Great mouse, it makes makes me a little peeved when I accidently touched to the side of the other buttons by mistake pressing back. I got the burst one though.
Do you think you would be able to get/test the AtomPalm Hydrogen? I saw that Linus at LinusTechTips was able to test out one. I’m curious as to what you may think of the 8000Hz polling rate.

I'm finding myself cramping a bit with this mouse and my hands are 19/9. I'm not sure if that's just because I'll need to get used to the size or if it's because this shape just isn't for me. I have had it for roughly a day now though.
That's what I'm experiencing as well right now (17/10.5 hand)... I can't understand why as I like fat back hump mice and I even used to have way bigger mice like Asus Strix Claw without getting any cramps. Maybe it's a combination of the right edge of the mouse that kinda makes my ring finger "stretched" to the right, and harder to press buttons? What mice did you have before this one? My last one was Xtrfy M4, the right edge was smooth, but I wanted something with more fatter rear (I wish they made a lightweight Mionix Castor mouse).
@@zares_fnx I used to use the Redragon Cobra, which was a similar design to the Deathadder but a lot less chunky.
Since it is roccat's first try of optical switches I think that can be excused.I think that was the same with the razer but they improved on the v2 switches hope roccat does the same . Oh btw Roccaat's optical switches on keyboards seem very smooth according to the reviews . Dont know what happend with the micro switches.They can improve them in the next revision or another mouse I guess..Always love watching your content

I totally respect your reviews Rocket Jump Ninja, and actually this review made me try Roccat make for the first time. I must say, I agree with you but not completely. Not sure if I missed it or you did not mention it - the cable. In my opinion here we can expect more - gamers not using mouse bungee should in my opinion consider upgrading to paracord - even good ones from China - still better with the one we get here, it is not bad, but I feel it is just standard - only looks cool. I completely disagree with you when it comes to clicking sound. I've heard clicks of like 5 different Logitech mice, one A4Tech and one Razer. A little compared to your experience but I love the click sound in Burst Pro. It is wonderful mouse, I got mine, white Pro for like 30 english pounds.
Microsoft, please make an updated lightewight WMO already!!!! Noone uses that shape tho it is still one of my favs! Many mice are concluding around that shape though.

I am curious about this mouse. I have the Kone Pure Ultra and love it. I tried the Razer Viper for a couple of months, but couldn't get comfortable with the shape, and the right side buttons are basically wasted for me as I can't press them properly without changing grip or moving my hand weird. And when I went back to the Kone Pure Ultra, I felt at home again right away.
I had the kone xtd before and the Burst was a huge downstep. Not a bad mouse but not a great one either
I have it right now, i don't like that it does infact double click if i slam my finger down. also, the software doesn't recognize f13-20 keys.
€37 for the roccat burst Pro or, €20 for the roccat burst Core.

They aren’t, just heavy.
@@fair-chance If they weren't mushy they'd have a shorter, more staccato sound, which would signal that the vibration on the buttons didn't linger upon pressing or releasing them. Sound is a result of vibration. Being that the sound was longer than usual, that means something in M1/M2 has more than the usual amount of play to it, which is a bad thing. Heavy buttons could sound any number of ways so the M1/M2 sound profile isn't really indicative of much besides their precision.
My wireless air pro sounds nothing like yours. Is it possible the upgraded v2 ttc optical switches made it into the burst air pro, because in actually had the wired version for a couple days and hated it. I gambled on the air cause I heard a lot of internals were improved and it's basically a diff mouse.
Edit so the switches I'm seeing in my burst air pro are definitely different than the ttc gen 1 opticals, they also don't look like the gen 2 opticals. Similar but not same.
Just ordered mine, should be a nice upgrade over my g403. Can't go wrong with this sensor and optical switches, should be zero click delay. Click sounds just fine for me. With headphones on, won't hear it haha.

How does this shape compare to the Rival 3? I really like the rear hump of the Rival 3 for claw grip, but I switched to the Viper and now the Rival feels really back heavy. But I really miss using something that sets in the back of my palm. Maybe an odd specific question.
guys what is that second quake game? i enjoy playing quake champ but my servers mainly asia has literally more than 5 min lobby wait and playing elsewhere gets me 200+ ping. :(

The burst pro has the best shell of any mouse, has THE BEST side buttons of any mouse in the game, has a bindable DPI button, great lighting effects, great and wide wheel, and it's all ruined by the fucking Titan optical switches in the M1/M2 that can't be swapped via soldering or hot swapping them out, and a somewhat rough cable. What a fucking shame.
It could have been 10/10 but the mouse 1, and mouse 2 switches make it a 5/10. It's an actual shame how close Roccat got.

HI NINJA I WANT UR OPINION MY HAND IS 19.5 x 10 and i claw/ palm grip so rival310 or za11 or hyberx pfs in terms of the best sensor cuz i got a deathadder v2 and its sensor is really flawless but it doesnt suit my hand cuz of the steep hump :( .
Upgraded to this from the rival 110 and don't like it at all, the hump at the back is way too steep and I can't aim with it
I’m think about getting the cooler master MM710 since I can’t get the model o and was wondering if you could answer this question. Does changing the denounce time to the lowest setting on the software cause it to double click?
I believe BT did a video specifically mentioning the denounce time to set for the mm710 to avoid double click. I think it was 4 but check his video. I have the mm710 and use it near daily. I set that once per his recommendation a year ago and have not touched it since. I also have had no double click issues.

These clicks on the RBP take like 2x the amount of pressure compared to any other mouse I own to actuate, lol, if they went for just any normal switches it would be an amazing mouse, but finger fatigue will kick in quick as fuck with these herculean switches.
I've had it since release now and never had any issues with finger fatigue, although I sometimes have gamesessions of 5 hours +
