it's a beast of a ride, we parked in grasmere then went up great tongue to do the grisdale darn descent down to patterdale, then back up kepple to helvellyn and down birkside! incredible day. thanks for watching :)
Yeah man with lethal water troughs! We did this as a 2 descent ride. Park grasmere, head over to patterdale via grisdale tarn, (epic descent i have that on video) then on to glenridding and up keppple past yha, up raise and on to helvellyn and then down birkside 👌
that looked mad, i know that feeling when you lose strength in your arms and hands from peaks but that looked like on another level, madness lol, great vid.
it doesn't do it justice how steep it was mate! i was fooked by the bottom. this was the second descent of the day, grisedale tarn was the other! thanks for commenting and having a watch. :)
taius20 no m8 not yet. need to by full suspension bike first. i have hardtaill now so im learning. dalby forest every week. but definitly next year i will do it.😀😀
Both absolutely awesome. Birkside more tech with a bit of a lame slab bottom section nan bield awesome singletrack with a bit of a shitty flat middle section. Do both of them!
Thanks for the reply :D I'm planning to spend a week at Windermere in July so I can't wait to hit some of the trails the Lake District has to offer. Awesome videos 👍
My arms are burning just watching! I’ve got to try this, looks so good and I know how much the camera flattens the terrain out. I’ve only ever been up Helvellyn on foot via striding edge but definitely going to give it a go on the bike. Would you say this is the best/most fun route down?
it's bloody steep man, depending on your ability it can be a struggle to ride but i absolutely loved it. we did this as part of a loop, we parked in grasmere then went up the tongue to grisdale tarn. then we did that descent down to patterdale. i have that on video if ya fancy a look at it. then we went up kepple past the yha and to helvellyn that way. think up the side of raise it was called. after that we went down birkside and back to grasmere. it was a sick day. i've done another one called sticks pass into seldom seen, that was also very good.
cheers mate, it depends which way you want to do it/how fit you are. We parked in grasmere, went up the tongue to grisdale tarn then did the descent to patterdale (also in my vids). Then we rode to glenridding, rode up past the youth hostel and up the valley to the side of raise. from there we went to the summit of helvellyn and along the ridge towards dollywagen pike but cut off down birkside. this video starts at the summit of helvellyn. if you're not as fit you can go up the side of dollywagen from grisdale tarn and get to helvellyn summit that way.
taius20 it's ok man, I'm used to steep. Love it steep and techy. Does look/sound like a body breaker though 😂. I did Bike park Wales on a 100mm travel cube acid xc bike. That was.. er.. painful. I have a 140mm travel full suss now though. Maaaaan! Why didn't I get one before lol.
steven spragg cheers mate! I did both grisedale descent and birkside as a loop. Was a long ish day but doable if you eat and hydrate right. If you just plan to do this descent, depending where you go up its about a 750 meter climb in elevation. Totally worth it though!!
taius20 No not yet. I have been to Sherwood, Cannock chase, Dalby and Gisburn in the past few months tho. Doubt I will make this until spring now. Dont fancy being on the top of them hills in the snow/frost!
taius20 not yet lad on the todo list for sure plus i need a new bike was looking at your giant an the 2017 too but think im gunna go for yt capra insted cant make my mind up! 😂
The yellow peril strike's again. That bikes served you well. Good to see a man frugal with his brakes.

@@RideBikes_Walkplaces love mine lad sick bike 👊👍
would love to tackle this but a beginner not sure i should attempt it
it's pretty steep mate! what's the harm in trying though? even if you can't ride down it you still have a sweet walk and beautiful views to enjoy.
true that, i am hoping to arrange it soon once the new ride arrives tomorrow #excited
sweet mate! just do it in the dry it would be lethal in the wet! what steed you getting?
