  • 18 years ago I recorded some songs of Theodorakis playing the piano and singing. I hope the mistakes I have made in the language will be forgiven, I was singing by heart.

    GREAT!!!!
You have to know that this song is difficult even for Greek singers to sing and really undesrtand the poem...

All of entekno is 'difficult' because that's what all of real music is--by definition taking a level of skill to write and to perform. The song itself comes from 'Ballades" in 1975/6; Theo's tribute to the poetry of Anagnostakis (althoight 'Milo" had appeared earlier...Otherwise, Anagnostakis' poem refers to Greece itself as a sinking boat; we'll just emigrate to America and bring our culture with us...

weet theodorakis dat u met zoveel liefde en inlevingsvermogen en met een prachtige stem zijn liederen zingt

Zijn toenmalige biograaf Guy Wagner heeft me verteld dat hij waardering voor mijn opnames had.

This perfomance is better than the original recording. I like your arrangement (only piano) more . And the tone of your voice suits the song better.

Hi Peter, this is such a gorgeous cover, such a pleasure to listen to. I was wondering if you could tell me where you found the sheet music? Unless you are singing and playing from memory :)

Hello Ellie. Thank you for the compliments. I did indeed sing and play from memory and I do not have sheet music. You could check with Edition Romanos who have published Theodorakis scores.
