Because it's relatable...there's a sense of belonging for some through the feeling of sadness. It concretes those who can't clearly feel other emotions to our reality. Sort of why Shinji chose to stay. He'd rather live in his own true reality than be "happy" in the instrumentality

Ever since I saw that film without seeing the series, I felt traumatized. To this day I am under the impression that End of Evangelion is becoming my reality.
Two weeks after I see the film, my best friend Max committed suicide. In comparison with Shinji failing to save Asuka, I felt I had failed to save him.
One month after, the Coronavirus hits and my state goes into lockdown. All of my new friends leave for good. I lose my jobs.
Finally, after seven months of being in a long distance relationship, I break up with my girlfriend. She said, “I’ll never leave you even when I die”, and yet she never made the effort to see me in person.
If there is anything I learned in The End of Evangelion, it’s that I am ill fated to suffer a miserable life no matter how hard I try.
People say they use Evangelion to escape reality. I’m using reality to escape Evangelion.
I’m so fucked up.
I'm so sorry for your loss ❤ This year has been a really rough year, but the fact that you are getting through it day by day is incredible as it is :) I know this may sound fake coming from a random stranger on the internet...BUT hang in there because you never know how life may change- (coming from a person who is also going through a rough time as well 😅)
The very end comes, of course, but entil then there are ups and downs. You'll never know when you've reached your last cleft, and the best thing is, when you're dead you won't even know it. And so, If everything tumbles down to the last bit, and you get to see it, it means you're still alive. So be glad, because you can only continue uo from here. BTW If I had a chance to choose how the apocalypse would look like, I'd choose Evangelions'. Much better than many other eschatologies out there, though I'd prefer if it would happen spontaneously and not pushed by humans.

I wondered if the channel had a cover of Fly Me To The Moon, but this'll do.
The way this song mixes emotions is mindblowing. The contrast between the lyrics and the music represents perfectly the feeling of existing in a dying world and not being able to do anything about it, while still wanting to exist and do your best to stay alive every day, even with suicidal thoughs. Evangelion fans are weird but damn this show has some of the best music i've had the pleasure of listening to.
