Hi. I was born in Denmark and came to the US when I was a year old. We kept our Danish traditions at home. Thanks for taking me back to my child hood!

Made this 3 times over this Christmas holidays (I am from Rome, Italy) and everyone kept asking for more! That cherry sauce....YUMMY! Next I want to attack the cinnamon rolls, wish me good luck! Thank you for all this!

This was probably my favorite thing I ate the entire year I lived in Copenhagen. Since it's not traditional for me, I find it a great summer dessert too, serving the cherry sauce cold.

This looks like something my family will LOVE. I have vanilla sugar- I toss my old beans into a jar of sugar and keep replenishing with sugar as needed. I use it to sweeten fruit that needs a little help- sometimes a 1/4 tsp is all a big bowl of sour fruit needs. I use your sourdough and sourdough pizza recipes all the time. You have a knack of recipe development and teaching.

Yes, I will use my used vanilla pods that way too, but this is much more potent because of all of the vanilla bean is in there :)
      Thank you

Wonderful and very beautifully cooked and presented! I loved this pudding very much while I was still a student in Aalborg! It was excellent! It is very delicious. Also, very fine collection of guitars in the background: I see you have some really nice Fender electric models as well as a Gibson Hummingbird (my most favourite acoustic guitar model)! Keep up the good work and plenty of success!
P.S. The 'lucky almond' is also a tradition in Finland, as per what I read, also around Christmas time. I also think it might not be that uncommon in the other two continental Scandinavian countries of Norway and Sweden. I know very well that Norwegians also serve this delicious pudding but I don't know if it is served in Sweden too. Anyway, once again, it is very good! All the best!

I have been living in DK for 2 years and I recently tried a store-bought risalamande and (man!) it was super-delicious. I thought that homemade version will be even better and started searching for the perfect recipe. And then I stumbled upon your video.
    Your video is super!
Thanks for sharing the details of the tradition.
I am definitely going to make this dessert the exact way that you have suggested.

It's a great tradition. A newer one that we're doing is "pakkeleg" (present game).
All the presents (these are smaller presents bought for this game) are placed on the table.
Then each person rolls a die and if you roll a 6 you can take a present from the table.
Once all the presents are divided it goes into the second round.
The game master sets a timer (unknown to the rest).
Then each time if you roll a 6 you can take somebody else present.
When the timer dings you get to keep the presents you have.
      (Wear ear plugs)
      😂

Hello Sune. I'm looking for a recipe on bread pudding and wondered if you have one? With all my sourdough experiments and attempts, I have built up a lot of tough end-pieces from my loaves. I thought they could be used to make a Sourdough Rye Bread Pudding, that hopefully my children would enjoy! Have you tried one? I'm certain these hard end pieces can be saved for recipes requiring bread crumbs... What else do you do with old, hard and stale end pieces of your loaves? Thank you for all the amazing content you've put out here for us. I can not express how much your videos have helped and inspired me!

That looks so delicious, but I have questions! In the US, we have vanilla extract. Could that be substituted for the vanilla bean in the pudding? What about in the vanilla sugar? And for those of us with tree nut allergies, can the almonds be successfully left out?

    • @vrenak
      @vrenak 3 года назад +1

You'd have to add the extract separately and mix well and taste your way to your liking, leaving out the almonds does detract a good bit from it, but not detrimentally so, perhaps you can use some almond essense if you're not allergic to that too, so you at least have the taste.
