Great choice had a synology for years old now but still going. I have the older model of this to the 220+ which I have at parents house as an off site backup

I got a Syno 716+ bare metal a while ago and since then have gotten another larger one, and then decided to throw in a VM instance of DSM on Proxmox as an on-site backup for the other two (works quite well for the random spare pass-through drives I had laying around). I think I should've just gotten the bare metal rack versions, but the prices just escalate from there... oh well. Please send help! 🤣

Have the DS218j with 2x 3TB Drives. Configured as Disk-Mirroring (Raid1). Not as fancy, .. does NOT have the Hot-Swapable Drive bays.
