I use 7.62x39, 300 Ham'r, 350 Legend and 450 Bushmaster for hogs, and all have been very effective. I know the video is broad, general opinion format, but the 6.8 SPC 120 grain SST factory ammo is rated at 2,460 from a 16" barrel on the Hornady website, so with an 18" barrel 2,500 can be expected and it has a .400 BC, making it a pretty flat round, I may have to build one. The 6.5 Grendel also seems like a good round for deer and hogs. But I'm with you on the .308, the balance of power, recoil, ammo availability, price and selection make it damn near the perfect round for hogs. I'm really looking at the Ruger SFAR, the power of .308 with the similar size and weight of an AR 15, seems like it could be a great hog rig.
Good video BUT the 6.8 SPC is 27 caliber and if you use only factory ammo it is extremely neutered by Remingtons crappy job when the came up with the round. The 6.8 SPC2 is a whole different creation and most if not all 6.8 barrels being produced are now of the SPC 2 variety. IMO to get the best out the 6.8 SPC 2 you need to handload. 95 gr barness tsx bullets north of 2800fps and 120gr sst around 2500.
What round do you guys run? Lets us know! almost 20k subs join the Pork Police Army!
