I've reviewed two different service manual sources for the 2014-2017 Chevy Caprice PPV and neither one mentions anything about "programming the pcm" (which I assume you mean invoking some sort of PCM special function). I installed a replacement alternator in this vehicle just after buying the car because that alternator had a wobbling and noisy front pulley assembly. That one worked fine for several months until one of the bearings started to make knocking noises, that's why I'm installing the alternator in this video. Neither installation required any sort of PCM programming or reset procedure. Here are the installation steps for the 2014 Chevy Caprice PPV L77 engine alternator (generator) from the service manual: Install the generator to the generator mounting bracket and tighten the mounting fasteners to 58 Nm (43 lb ft) . Install the battery positive cable to the B + stud at the back of the generator and tighten the fastener to 10 Nm (89 lb in) . Install the terminal boot and connect the electrical connector. Install the rear generator brace to the back of the generator and tighten the fastener to 58 Nm (43 lb ft) . Install the accessory drive belt to the generator. Install the air cleaner assembly. Connect the battery negative cable(s). (Auxiliary Battery / Primary Battery). If you can provide a specific reference/how-to/info to the step you believe that I missed in the replacement of this alternator, please do so.
@TheGamersRace I've never found any mention of reprogramming the PCM when replacing the PPV alternator. The unit I installed in this video is still working well.
I do have that original ACDelco alternator that I removed from my 2014 Caprice. It was making some interesting bearing noises at times. I replaced it with a new ACDelco unit and that lasted a few months before it started making noises. I found a "BBB Industries 11643 Remanufactured 170 Amp Alternator" on eBay for $212 USD back in Dec 2020. That's what I have in the car now. The shipping costs on that alternator from RockAuto is $18 to my location so UPS shipping to you might be $25 or more. RockAuto does have the BBB Industries 11643 alternator in stock for $211.79 plus $65 core charge, tax and shipping. If you want one for your car, I might suggest that approach.
It should be similar to the steps in this video. The 2011-2013 having the hydraulic power steering pump just above the alternator might change the steps just a bit. The ACDelco 92254798 170 amp alternator seems to be listed as specific to the 2014-2017 Caprice PPV 6.0L L77. The ACDelco website shows that the 2011-2013 Caprice PPV 6.0L uses ACDelco 92258220 as the 170 amp alternator. The BBB Industries 11643 remanufactured alternator shows it fits 2011-2017 model years.

🇺🇸🇺🇸This video should help many people. Very informative,Thank You. 🇺🇸😎🇺🇸
Glad it was helpful!
Looking for a higher output alt, maybe around a 250A. Any good places to look? I can't seem to find much online.
I'm not aware of any higher amp alternators other than the stock 170 amp units in the 6.0L engine Caprices.

Ok, great video by the way thanks.
Keep in mind you also have too reprogram the pcm after this or the alternator will not last 30mintues

Is it the same on a 2012
