Immediately preceding this song, they did the acoustic version of "Puzzle" in the same format. That version of Puzzle is, perhaps, the best performance they have ever done.

You can't say you have listened to Anemone until you heard the studio version with Kanami's guitar solo, it's truly epic.

I love the way Saiki started singing in a very soft, fragile voice with ever so slight rnb vibe and the emotions in her voice crescends towards Kanami's second solo is gold.

I think the Yokohama performance of this is even better, crazy as that sounds. Five years on, Saiki's command of her voice is even better and more emotional, and Kanami's playing more impactful. I was lucky enough to see it live and it was just achingly beautiful. The BluRay of the concert releases at the end of March, and I hope they make that version of Anemone one of their official live videos.

🤘🏽 🍭 Well, that was sensational. Saiki is a charismatic singer, no doubt. And Kanami’s sweet, gentle harmonies complement perfectly.
Once you recover, you’ll find the song “Puzzle” with two live versions. The acoustic from this 2018 Zepp show, and the powerful full version from Tokyo Garden 2023.
You may like to check the lyrics first, as it may add some context to the emotional performance Saiki delivers
    As always, 🤘🏽

Now you might understand why overseas fans fly to Japan to attend BAND-MAID concerts.
Listen to SMILE. You will have a similar reaction. I can’t remember if there’s an MV, but the audio is all you need. Also, it was the opening number for their Christmas acoustic set, a clip of which you might be able to find somewhere else.

Goes without saying Sakii's vocals are wonderful but also Kanami's voice is so angelic and sweet and the acoustic has a great tone. They also did the acoustic version of Puzzle at this concert which I like even more that this one, it really shows off Kanami's harmonizing, so beautiful and ethereal.

Some fans claim that Saiki is a R&B stylist, considering her ability to sing rhythmically and emotionally. She could also be channeling Japanese Enka, which has similar styling. Miku also started singing with Enka. There is some joking of them busting out with Enka styling in a song.

A perfect example of why I fell in love with Japanese music in the 1960’s. Please listen to the acoustic version of Puzzle that came just before this. As remarkable as all the ladies are I think Kanami and Akane are true geniuses.

Heart-wrenching song and performed so well. If you get a chance, try out the album version. If the acoustic is like a candle struggling against a breeze, the full band version flares up like a bonfire.

  • @JamesJames-iy6vx

This acoustic performance was actually a double bill. You should have started by listening to the acoustic version of Puzzle, which will grip your heart so tight it hurts. And after that has ended, as you slowly recover from the heart wrenching experience, the duo will engage in a short, light-hearted banter with the audience. But before you have completely recovered from the first song, in comes Anemone for the gut wrenching experience.
But, this is not enough. You ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO listen to the quite long music box intro to this acoustic performance because it absolutely sets the tone before even Kanami has plucked a string or Saiki uttered a note.
At the end of it, you would feel as if these 2 ladies have completely torn out your heart and eviscerated you with six strings and two voices.
As a prelude to all these, read the English translation if these two songs for context. You dont have to read them during the performance, but it'll make quite a difference understanding what these two songs are about.
I hope you'll find it worth your while to take up this suggestion. But do wear sun shades and have a box of Kleenex handy during the reaction recording. These ladies will do that to you.
And you DO also have to listen to the full, unplugged version of Anemone. There are two short solos in there. The first one, Kanami rips your guts out and while they're hanging out, the second one she stomps on them and sets them alight.
    Have a good one....

It's this kind of subtle performance which really shows you what the musicians are made of. This was already one of my 100 favorite Band-Maid songs, and this version put it in my top 20. Seriously, I've seen them do this live and there were very few dry eyes in the house.
